Ramires scored twice to help Chelsea to a 4-0 win over Steaua Bucharest in their second Champions League match of the season.

Chelsea were the much better team on the night and many of their players played extremely well. Ramires happened to be the one to score the goals, but it could have been anyone. Ramires hasn't been extremely productive in fantasy in the Premier League so go with a more proven option.

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Lille left-back Pape Souare.

The Senegal international flew straight to London to complete the deal after his nation's early exit from the African Nations Cup this week. Souare becomes Alan Pardew's third signing of the week after the arrivals of Jordon Mutch and Shola Amoebi. Mutch has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract and Ameobi has joined until the end of the campaign after ending a brief stay in Turkey.

Swansea City captain Ashley Williams has spent the two weeks between league matches to recover from a shoulder injury he picked up against Chelsea and has been declared fit for selection on Sunday.

Excellent news for Garry Monk and Swansea fans as the club have a tough task of finding a positive result against Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium. With Wilfried Bony long gone and Gylfi Sigurdsson serving the first of a three-match ban, it may take a tight defense to steal a road point and that feat would be next to impossible without Williams. A true soldier, he has yet to miss a minute of pitch time this season and it appears that impressive trend will continue on Sunday.

The controversial choice by Kevin Mirallas to take spot kick duties away from Leighton Baines in Everton's previous league match against West Brom and subsequent removal later in the match apparently has been settled in the locker room and Mirallas should be available for selection when the Toffees face Palace tomorrow.

One thing is for sure, you will not be seeing anyone taking penalties for the Toffees when Leighton Baines is on the pitch except for Leighton Baines. His record there is solid and everyone except Mirallas was aware of that before the incident two weekends ago. Now the word on the street is that Mirallas is angling for a move away from Goodison Park, with Spurs already being rumored as a potential new home, but Everton will probably wait to unload him in the summer. It would be in Mirallas' best interest to swallow some pride, chalk up the mistake and play hard for Roberto Martinez. The irony is that his sizzling form is what probably led to the incident to begin with. If he doesn't start tomorrow, Everton can say it is due to nothing more than a hamstring issue, but realistically it would imply that he is firmly in the doghouse, not the physio room.

Tony Pulis indicated that Callum Mcmanaman will go straight into the squad for Week 23.

Pulis is hoping McManaman will provide a wide attacking presence that has been mostly missing for Albion this season. Fantasy managers will have to worry about the possibility that McManaman will start on the bench but given that he is in form there is every reason to expect that he will get his first start.

Mame Biram Diouf is available to Mark Hughes after returning from the African Cup of Nations.

With Bojan out for the rest of the season with a knee injury Mark Hughes will be happy to have Diouf back in the line-up for the visit of Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. Diouf may not play the entire match due to travel-related fatigue but he is likely to figure in some way.
Jan 30 - 1:49 PM

Louis Van Gaal will be missing Michael Carrick for a month with a muscle injury.

Manchester United's revival corresponded with Carrick's return to the line-up. Their ability to win without him will be tested with the midfielder likely out until early March. With Darren Fletcher rumored to be departing Marouane Fellaini and Daley Blind are likely to get more playing time.

Maya Yoshida and Florin Gardos are in a battle to earn a start in Southampton's match against Swansea this weekend.

Yoshida just returned from international duty and will be challenging Gardos for a start. Gardos was benched earlier this month for playing poorly, but he looked much better once Yoshida was out for international duty. This will likely be a mystery up until lineups are announced and we don't feel good with either defender in formats where you can't change the lineup up until kickoff.

Sadio Mane could be fit to face Swansea on Sunday.

The Southampton was injured while on international duty but is now back and could challenge Eljero Elia and James Ward-Prowse for a starting spot. Elia played well during Mane's absence but wasn't as exceptional as he's hyped up to be and Mane will certainly challenge him for a starting spot. It's hard to trust either one in fantasy at the moment as they're likely to be rotated as the season goes on.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been banned for three matches after stamping on Liverpool's Emre Can.

No big surprise here after the FA were able to confirm what we all knew would happen to Chelsea's appeal. Costa will miss Saturday's Premier League meeting with title rivals Manchester City at Stamford Bridge as well as matches away at Aston Villa and home to Everton. Didier Drogba is being tipped to step in this weekend, although Loic Remy is another option.

James Ward-Prowse has signed a new contract that has him staying at Southampton until 2020.

The youngster has 17 appearances this season despite sitting out several weeks through injury and has appeared every bit as advertised. He rose through the ranks of Southampton's system and has been fantastic this season. This is a great sign for Southampton, who have a good piece for the future in the 20 year old and someone they could potentially sell for a big profit. Ward-Prowse is a good fantasy option as he will likely start again if Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama continue missing time.

The Press Association is reporting that Scott Sinclair's long-rumored loan move to Aston Villa is on and will be completed in the next 24 hours.

The move has been the definition of on-again-off-again but it appears that good sense will prevail in the form of a move that appears to benefit all parties. Sinclair hasn't played much since his move the Manchester City and Aston Villa need somebody, anybody, who can help them score a few more goals. Sounds like a match made in heaven to us. Maybe Villa's matches will be something closer to watchable as a result. It certainly takes Sinclair's value from zero to at least something in the same way that Joleon Lescott's move from City to West Brom did for Lescott.
