Bacary Sagna, who missed the West Brom match a hamstring complaint, could be involved in Week 8 against Norwich City.

The news is hardly definitive but it sounds like Bacary Sagna has an even or better chance of taking some part in Arsenal's match against the Canaries on Saturday. The lack of certainty means that both Sagna and Carl Jenkinson are likely to get playing time but the proportion going to each is very much in doubt. As a result, it is probably the wise move to ignore Arsenal's right back spot when considering your fantasy line-up.

Joey O'Brien picked up an injury during West Ham's Europa League match today.

O'Brien was replaced in the 35th minute by Reece Burke as he limped off the pitch. We don't know how serious the injury is but O'Brien is to be considered questionable heading into week one. If he can't go, Reece Burke will likely get the start and have good fantasy value after a solid showing last season that saw him pile up fantasy points in a short amount of time.

Southampton defeated Vitesse Arnhem 3-0 in their Europa League Qualifier.

The Saints played very, very well and deservedly came away with a win. Graziano Pelle opened up the scoring with a fabulous strike after being set up perfectly by Sadio Mane and Dusan Tadic made it 2-0 from the penalty spot right before halftime. Substitute Shane Long made it 3-0 in the second half and the Saints will surely be happy with their performance. We like their squad headed into next season and fancy them to be competing for a top seven spot once again.

James Collins was sent off in West Ham's 2-2 Europa League draw against Astra Giurgiu after receiving a harsh second yellow.

Collins started for the Hammers and helped them build a 2-0 lead but was sent off for a second yellow after an hour of play. Slaven Bilic described the second yellow as "harsh" and it certainly turned the match around. Fernando Boldrin made it 2-1 soon after and Angelo Ogbonna scored an own goal to equalize for Astra in the 82nd minute. The Hammers now have to go to Romania and earn a win in order to qualify for the next round. It's worth noting James Collins will not miss any Premier League action due to his red card in the Europa League.

Enner Valencia injured his knee in the West Ham's match against Astra Giurgiu today and will have a scan on Friday.

Hammers manager Slaven Bilic added that the injury "doesn't look good" and that may mean Valencia misses an extended amount of time. West Ham can't catch a break from injuries and they've now got two strikers who are bound to be on the bench to start the season between Andy Carroll and Enner Valencia. If Valencia misses extended time, Diafra Sakho and Dimitri Payet gain fantasy value as they're almost guaranteed to play consistently.

Maarten Stekelenburg started for Southampton in their Europa League qualification match against Vitesse Arnhem.

It seems Stekelenburg has won the Saints starting goalkeeper job and it's no surprise considering he was signed due to the fact Ronald Koeman didn't feel good about Paulo Gazzaniga and Kelvin Davis. Southampton have had a solid defense for two years in a row now and despite losing two of their starting defenders, we expect them to be at least average this season. Stekelenburg makes for a good fantasy option.

Dusan Tadic was in Southampton's starting lineup in their Europa League Qualification match against Vitesse Arnhem.

Tadic was struggling with a number of injuries at the end of last season and his form struggled because of it. He lost some of his playing time but it now seems he's primed to resume his starting role. Tadic is too good to be on the bench and him starting in what looks it might be Southampton's week one lineup is encouraging. The Saints' lineup against Vitesse included Stekelenburg; Cédric, Fonte, Yoshida, Targett; Wanyama, Clasie, S. Davis, Tadić, Mané; and Pellè.

Spurs have confirmed that Vlad Chiriches is leaving White Hart Lane for Serie A and Napoli on a permanent deal.

Chiriches was initially hailed as the solution for Spurs at center back but never really panned out. Spurs have spent the summer trimming spare parts like Younes Kaboul and Chiriches with rumors that Andros Townsend, Aaron Lennon, Erik Lamela, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Roberto Soldado could also follow. These are all solid moves from Spurs but with minimal inbound transfer activity thus far this summer it raises the question of how deep this club will be when the season kicks off.

Man City are reported to have entered the race to sign Everton defender John Stones, with Chelsea preparing a third bid…

Everton have so far resisted two bids from Chelsea for John Stones. An initial water-testing £20 million followed by a ‘let’s get serious’ £26m. But the noises coming out of both clubs suggest it is merely a question of finding the tipping point before the deal happens. Jose Mourinho has mused he might have offer a record-breaking figure to get his man. Gary Gahill has urged his young England team-mate to jump and Stone’s himself is apparently keen to go. Enter Man City… It seems that last season’s runners-up are getting twitchy about the Champions further strengthening, so are readying a bid themselves. Whether it is to bolster their own defense or just weaken Chelsea’s is not clear. But the bidding war it could create will at least provide Everton with that record fee they are after.

Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray is reported to be on the hit-list of Premier League debutants Bournemouth, for a fee in the region of £2 million…

Much of the pre-season talk at Palace has been about players coming in, but one who looks to be on his way out is Glenn Murray. The former Brighton striker was Palace’s top scorer last term, hitting seven goals and providing three assists. Not a huge total perhaps, but to his credit it only took him nine starts to outstrip Palace’s other striking options – all of whom played more. Boss Alan Pardew has been clear in his intention to bring in a center-forward though – adding Chelsea youngster Patrick Bamford on loan, but also pursuing Loic Remy and Charlie Austin. Murray might be the least suited to the counter attacking style that did well for Pardew last season, or perhaps the only one he can get a fee for. Bournemouth see Murray as an ideal foil for their top scorer last season Callum Wilson, who signed a new four year deal this week.

Everton have targeted Swansea skipper Ashley Williams as the man to replace John Stones, despite manager Garry Monk stressing he is not for sale…

Earlier this week Swansea boss Garry Monk was adamant that his skipper Ashley Williams was not for sale. This was in response to Crystal Palace’s approach, amid reports they were prepared to spend up to £10m for the Welsh international center-back. Since then ESPN have reported that Everton have identified Williams as the man to replace John Stones, should he leave for Chelsea. The message now coming out of Swansea is Williams would cost £25m. An extortionately high fee for a 30-year-old, but not the same as ‘not for sale.’ Everton are aggressively holding out for a £30m+ fee for Stones but that money will not do them any good in the bank, with only one other senior defender in the current squad. And Swansea will know this only too well.

In a lively first half that saw all the goals, The MLS All-Stars would score twice to defeat Tottenham 2-1.

The two sides traded blows with MLS legend Nick Rimando stopping Harry Kane twice from point blanks range. Nacer Chadli committed handball, giving MLS a penalty chance converted by Kaka. Kane would get his goal after Spurs fell 2-0 down, unleashing an accurate blast from distance. Though chances came fewer in the second half, it was a solid shift by many of Spurs youngsters, including Dele Alli. Interesting of note in fantasy terms is how Mauricio Pochettino turned to Ben Davies to start at left back over Danny Rose, when seemingly the other three starting defenders, Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Kyle Walker are looking the favorites to win their respective jobs.
