Robbie Brady, mere weeks removed from hernia surgery, has been declared fit enough to participate against Everton in Week 8.

Exactly what Brady's role will be - starter, substitute, or sitting on the bench for 90 minutes - is unclear. What is clear is that he has recovered faster than expected from his hernia surgery and is likely to be back and starting matches no later than Week 9. The smart strategy is probably to leave him out this week in hopes that he is a low scoring substitute in Week 8 and his price drops a bit heading into Week 9. If you must have him this week then be sure you have someone who is certain to start on your bench behind him because this recovery story sounds a little too good to be true.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is closing in on a return to full fitness and the German captain is expected to be named in the 23-man Euro 2016 squad when it is announced later this month.

The 31-year-old has struggled in his first Premier League season because of injury and following another setback in March while training with the national team – Schweinsteiger has been limited to just 110 minutes of top flight football this calendar year. But, speaking to weekly sports magazine Sport Bild which is published in Germany, Joachim Loew has reported that the Manchester United midfielder is ready to return to full training after scans revealed his medial knee ligament strain has fully healed. Schweinsteiger played a key role in Germany’s World Cup triumph in Brazil two-years ago and Loew – who is a big admirer of the player he described as "an absolute leader and world-class" when rubber stamping his move to England – is keen to ensure his captain plays in France.

Chris Coleman is "optimistic" that Joe Ledley can recover from injury in time to play in the European Championships but admits: "It will be the biggest decision I am going to have to make."

The Crystal Palace midfielder fractured his fibula in a challenge with Charlie Adam earlier this month and is determined to prove his fitness before Coleman names his final 23-man squad on May 31. Ledley travelled with the Wales team to Portugal but will train away from the main group as he undertakes his own personalised rehabilitation programme. The 29-year-old is expected to miss tournament opener against Slovakia but hopes to face England on June 16, just 40-days after he was forced off at Selhurst Park. "It’s not going to be easy, but I spoke with him a few days ago and he was in a good mood. He is walking around unaided and that’s a good sign," said the Welsh manager.

The speculation is that Romelu Lukaku has unfinished business at Chelsea and will push for a move from Goodison Park to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Mysterious "sources close to the player" have indicated to ESPN FC that Lukaku favors a move to Chelsea despite interest from a number of clubs that will be playing in the Champions League and Europa League next season. Manchester United have been linked in the Premier League as well as other high-profile clubs around Europe. The arrival of Lukaku would present an interesting situation for Antonio Conte as Lukaku's fee would surely mean he'd be hard to keep on the bench in favor of the current number one. Hard to see Costa as a happy camper playing anything other than a full-time starter's role.

Southampton are rumored to be willing to let Graziano Pelle's contract run out at the end of next season with Simone Zaza the rumored replacement.

Southampton's relationship with Pelle has been odd. He was effective in his debut season on the south coast. He was hardly spectacular with 12 goals in 37 league matches but that's hardly a bust either. His second season was more effective on a per-match basis as the Italian scored 11 and assisted on 6 more in 23 starts and 7 substitute appearances. At 30 years old, he should be in his prime as a target forward but Zaza is only 24 and perhaps the Saints are wary of being on the hook for a fading force when a younger one is available.

Manchester United are rumored to be interested in bringing Michael Carrick back for another year at Old Trafford.

Perhaps for the same reason that John Terry was offered an additional year at Chelsea to help transition from old manager to new manager, Michael Carrick is apparently being considered for the same treatment at United. We know Jose Mourinho loves veteran players and Carrick seems like the sort of intelligent, always-in-the-right-place sort of player who could play at least some part in a Mourinho side. Whether the playing time and money offered is sufficient to interest Carrick remains to be seen but this rumor makes some sense given what we know about the characters involved.

The rumor mill has turned out a doozy today with the news that Joe Hart could be headed to Everton to fill the Tim Howard-sized hole in net at Goodison Park.

The build-up to this conclusion has elements that make at least some sense. Pep Guardiola has been rumored to want to bring in former Barcelona pupil Marc-Andre ter Stegen as he ascends to the top job at the Etihad. At Everton, Tim Howard has departed leaving only an adequate reserve in Joel Robles for the spot. The Goodison Park outfit also have a new owner with lots of money which will always lead to crazy transfer rumors. Perhaps the stumbling block here will be City's need to keep their English players to make up the home grown numbers required by UEFA and the FA. Seems hard to believe that this one would happen but at least it's something to break up the monotony of Zlatan-to-United rumors.

Jurgen Klopp is about to execute his first summer signing as Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius has come to England for a medical ahead of a move to Liverpool.

The 22-year-old Karius is coming off a very successful season with Mainz and was voted in a poll as the second best keeper in the Bundesliga behind German international fixture Manuel Neuer. He once was a product of Manchester City's youth academy before returning to play in his homeland. Karius looks to be the eventual starter for Klopp's future plans and will provide serious competition for Simon Mignolet when the club reconvenes for preseason. His transfer fee is thought to be around £4.7m.

The worst kept secret in football has become official as Manchester United have relieved Louis Van Gaal of his duties as manager of the club.

Presumably there will be a short waiting period followed by the official announcement of Jose Mourinho as Van Gaal's successor.

Sam Allardyce is not holding back in the search to bolster the Sunderland attack with Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew leading a list of targets.

Swansea City would reportedly consider selling its leading goalscorer if the right offer came in, and Sunderland came close to sealing a winter move for the Ghanaian, who arrived on a free transfer from Marseille in the summer. Meanwhile, Allardyce won't stop at just Ayew's 12 Premier League goals. The Black Cats are reportedly looking at Bafetimbi Gomis as another potential option with Allardyce keen to move for the French attacker, who started the season with a goal in the first four matches.

Spurs forward Heung-Min Son confirmed he has no interest in leaving the club despite rumors linking him with a summer exit.

Said the South Korean: "I haven't heard anything from the club regarding those transfer rumours. I'm sure my club will take care of this, and I think there is nothing special for me to be worried about. My first season in the Premier League didn't meet my expectations, but I had a good experience. For my first season, I played with the thought that I should learn many things here." Son joined Tottenham toward the end of the summer transfer window from Bayer Leverkusen, scoring four goals in 26 league appearances in his first Premier League season.

Add Sadio Mane to the list of players potentially moving to Jose Mourinho's Manchester United now that his appointment seems inevitable.

Mane was linked to Arsenal over the weekend but now comes news that Manchester United will go in hard for the Southampton winger. His defensive effort doesn't exactly scream Mourinho Guy and he plays in a position, left attacker, where United have a lot invested in Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial over the past year. Perhaps, Martial will move to center forward and Depay will be marginalized after a poor first season leaving an opening but that still doesn't make Mane a diligent defender. This one looks questionable.
