West Brom and Stephane Sessegnon missed out on a golden opportunity for three points as the attacking midfielder couldn't convert in alone on Asmir Begovic.

In a match that was lacking in attacking opportunities saw the biggest one of the match go begging. Stephane Sessegnon cut through the Stoke defense and was in alone on Begovic but, unlike Aaron Ramsey against Norwich City, couldn't maintain his calm to beat the keeper. It was a strong effort from the Stoke keeper but Sessegnon still should have beaten him and secured the away victory for the Baggies. That miss was the difference between the 12 spot in the table and being eighth ahead of Manchester United after eight weeks.

Arsenal and Bournemouth have both confirmed that Jack Wilshere will miss the final month of the season with a hairline fracture in his leg.

The idea of sending Wilshere on loan to Bournemouth was to help him get matches and either rebuild his value for a sale or see if he could progress toward being an integral member of the Arsenal first team. For most of the season, Wilshere was moving strongly toward those goals. Given the role of his lengthy injury history in derailing his career at Arsenal leading up to his loan move, this injury may serve to undo much of the good that serving most of the season as an effective starter has done. Will a mid-table club with a limited transfer budget really pony up a significant transfer fee for a player with yet another injury? Could Arsenal justify counting on him as a key cog for next season or signing him to a contract extension given his propensity to be out injured? What happens next with Wilshere was always going to be fascinating but this latest injury just adds an additional layer of complexity what what was already a pretty complex situation.

Roberto Firmino continues to train away from the main group as the club carefully manage their Brazilian star.

Liverpool are said to be concerned that Firmino is in the ‘red zone’ which essentially means he is at high risk of picking up a soft tissue injury. His workload will be monitored closely between games to minimise the chances of picking up a strain or tear. The 25-year-old has really stepped up in recent weeks, following an injury to Adam Lallana, contributing two goals + two assists in April while he has already surpassed last season’s goal scoring tally [11]. Liverpool take on Crystal Palace this weekend knowing that another three-points will help cement their place in third and go some way towards clinching a Champions League qualification spot. Adam Lallana [thigh] has stepped up his recovery with one eye on a return in game week thirty-five while captain Jordan Henderson [foot] is not far behind following his recent setback.

Glenn Whelan is expected to return to the fold this weekend after missing the win over Hull City because of illness.

The tough tackling Stoke midfielder was sent home from training last Thursday in the hope of making a full recovery in time to make Saturdays game, but Whelan was only able to rejoin the group on Tuesday following a particularly bad virus "which wiped him out for four or five days." The out-of-favour 33-year-old, who has made only 3 Premier League starts since the beginning of March, came back looking a little leaner, about half a stone according to manager Mark Hughes, and Whelan will be hoping to force his way back into contention for the trip to Swansea. Joe Allen will also be assessed during the build-up to game week thirty-four as he continues his recovery from the hamstring injury he suffered against his former club Liverpool 10 days ago.

Wayne Rooney's injury hell appears to be coming to an end with the Manchester United captain set to return tomorrow night.

Manager Jose Mourinho said that he hopes to have the 31-year-old on the bench to face Anderlecht in the Europe League quarterfinal second leg on Thursday, given he comes through training unscathed. Rooney has missed much of the last month after suffering a series of ankle injuries to both ankles that have nagged at him throughout the season. "He's working now, he's improving and if in this training session [this afternoon] the answer is positive, I would select him to be on the bench tomorrow," Mourinho said. "...He has not had big problems during the season but he had a few small problems and when you get into a certain age, it's a little bit more difficult to recover."

Manchester City will be waiting on the fitness of several key players ahead of the FA Cup semifinals with Arsenal on Sunday.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that defender John Stones and midfielder Fabian Delph both missed the club's 3-0 win over Southampton last weekend due to minor injuries that will be assessed this week. Both Stones and Delph have become consistent starters for the Sky Blues, with Delph adding an attacking flair in his role in central midfield. Ahead of the trip to Wembley this weekend, the club will also wait on the fitness of Bacary Sagna as the French international has missed the last month with an adductor injury.

Leicester City's debut campaign in the Champions League has come to an end as Atlético Madrid advanced 2-1 on aggregate with a 1-1 second-leg draw on Tuesday.

Leicester fought till the final whistle, but their second-half push was too little, too late, as a first-half header by Saul proved enough for Atlético Madrid to advance to the Champions League semifinals. The visitors found the all-important goal off a counter attack in the 26th minute, with an unmarked Saul heading a Filipe Luiz cross back across the mouth off goal and out of the reach of Kasper Schmeichel. After a frustrating first-half, the Foxes found their form. Craig Shakespeare introduced Ben Chilwell and a formation shift at the half, and the alteration paid off in the 62nd minute when a blocked shot by Chilwell fell to Jamie Vardy - who hammered the rebound home to equalize the match scoreline. While the goal ignited the Foxes to attack throughout the remainder of the match, they were unable to further unlock Atlético's tenacious defensive. Leicester will now shift their attention solely to the Premier League, and their clash with Arsenal in eight days time.

Bournemouth loanee Jack Wilshere has been ruled out until the end of the season with a broken leg.

The England international was forced off last weekend during his side's class with Chelsea. He underwent scans to assess the extent of the damage, and according to Sky Sports, they revealed that he has a crack in his left fibula, which is part of the bone structure of the calf. The injury resembles the same one which sidelined him for the vast majority of the 2015/16 season. The injury spells the end of his season, which saw him appear 27 times for the Cherries. His career is now at a crossroads and it is unclear where he will be plying his trade when August comes around again.

Bournemouth winger Max Gradel has told BBC Sport that he wants to leave the club.

Gradel's playing time has been severely limited this season, even when fit and also in spite of the fact that the Ivory Coast international signed a new contract less than a year ago. He has not made a single Premier League start this term having been a key player for the Cherries in the previous campaign, appearing just eleven times in all. Gradel believes that he must move to get first team football. His activity on Twitter suggests that he has his sights set on Championship play-off contenders Leeds United, where he scored 25 goals in 85 games in a previous stint between 2009 and 2012.

No sooner had Fabio da Silva returned from injury, than the full-back was once again making a beeline to the Middlesbrough treatment room.

Having missed the two previous matches after suffering concussion at Swansea in game week thirty, Fabio was named in the starting XI against Arsenal but his night was practically over before it had even begun. The defender was left with a "sore knee" following a collision with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after just 15 minutes and he was unable to carry on. Steve Agnew revealed post-match that Fabio was being assessed by the club doctor and the extent of his injury was not yet known. If Fabio does miss out this weekend, then the Boro boss may turn to the fit-again George Friend, who recently recovered from a calf problem, while Calum Chambers is also available having missed the last two months because of a stress fracture of the foot.

Middlesbrough remain the only side in English league football without a win during 2017 after suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Arsenal on Monday.

Guzan stepped in as Victor Valdes missed out, due to a rib injury, but his presence in between the posts was not enough to earn Boro a share of the points. The American international watched helplessly as Alexis Sanchez curled a stunning free-kick in the top left corner late in the first half and, after Alvaro Negredo scored the equalizer, was unable to stop Mesut Ozil's 71st-minute close-range strike. While Guzan did deny Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain late on, Steve Agnew's side were unable to find another equalizer. The result leaves Middlesbrough six points from safety ahead of Saturday's trip to Bournemouth.

Leicester City are hopeful that Wes Morgan will be fit to feature in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

After missing over a month due to a nerve problem in his back, Morgan appears to be on the cusp of making his return for the Foxes. Craig Shakespeare says he has been pleased with the center-back's progress over the last few days, having missed sat out the 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace but trained the last three training sessions. "The final decision will be made tomorrow (Tuesday)," said Shakespeare of Morgan’s potential involvement. "I need to see if there’s any reaction from today (Monday’s training session)." The return of Morgan would be a crucial boost, as Leicester will be without Robert Huth due to yellow card accumulation. Yohan Benalouane is expected to start in place of Huth, while Marcin Wasilewski could receive a rare start if Morgan is unable to pass a late fitness test.
