20-year old defender Andre Wisdom has joined Derby County on a youth, or short-term, loan deal.

Wisdom has made sporadic forays into the Liverpool first team, but his development will be helped by regular action in the Championship. Liverpool are getting healthy at the back again, and their new 3-back system makes Wisdom surplus to requirements at the moment.

Petr Cech will miss the remainder of the season with a dislocated shoulder.

Cech was injured in Chelsea's 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid and had to be replaced by Mark Schwarzer halfway through the first half. This is a huge loss to Chelsea, who now have to face Liverpool and Atletico Madrid within the next seven days without their number one goalkeeper. Mark Schwarzer will have to step up, but he is well past his prime and is mediocre at best. Schwarzer is not a recommended choice for this weekend but can be a very good option for fantasy managers during Chelsea's last two games of the season.

John Terry injured his foot during Chelsea's Champions League match against Atletico Madrid today.

Terry tried to play through the pain but eventually limped off the pitch in the second half and was replaced by Andre Schurrle. David Luiz dropped back into defense and Schurrle played in midfield. After the match, Mourinho mentioned that Chelsea would have to play in the final for Terry to play in the Champions League again, implying that the defender could miss up to a month. David Luiz will have to take his spot but the Brazilian is a liability in defense and is certainly a big downgrade. Chelsea face Liverpool's high scoring attack this weekend without their best defender and number one goalkeeper, raising the value of Liverpool's strikers.

Jose Mourinho stated in his post match press conference that his priority is the UEFA Champions League, implying he might not field his best squad against Liverpool this weekend.

This could be Mourinho's way of saying he will field a B-quality squad against Liverpool or it could just be mind games in an attempt to gain an advantage against his rivals this Sunday. Either way, we are not optimistic about Chelsea's chances in this game. Half the squad is injured and they are playing at Anfield against the best club in the Premier League at the moment. With that being said, it's also important to note that Mourinho likes to play a defensive style of football, so Liverpool might not score as many as they usually do. It will generally be wise to avoid this match for fantasy purposes, with the exception of Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard.

Wasting no time, Manchester United appear set to name Dutch National Team Manager Louis van Gaal to replace David Moyes after the World Cup.

With Ryan Giggs set to manage the first team for the remaining three matches of this Premier League season, Manchester United have moved on quickly in finding their permanent replacement for the former Everton manager. In Louis van Gaal, United have someone who knows how to handle the responsibility of managing under a big spotlight. With previous league title-winning stints Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Ajax, a Champions League final at Bayern and a Champions League title at Ajax in 1995 his resume is a fit for the job of replacing a legend like Sir Alex Ferguson. With a year of diminished expectations after the Moyes disaster, van Gaal is stepping in at the perfect time to be viewed as a savior. Up next, who will the new manager be targeting in the transfer market?

Manchester United manager David Moyes has been sacked, only 10 months after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

The news had already been leaked to the UK newspapers and had spread across the internet on Monday, so this morning's official announcement is no surprise. As many had predicted, following Sir Alex proved too much for Moyes. The ex-Everton boss never looked at ease at Old Trafford and had a torrid time in the transfer market, in the media and on the pitch, guiding the team to seventh in the table with four games remaining, guaranteed to record Manchester United's lowest ever points tally in the Premier League. The Club released a short statement "to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role". Player-coach Ryan Giggs is expected to take charge of United's next game at home against Norwich on Saturday and possibly for the rest of the season, before a new manager is announced in the summer.

Kevin Mirallas will miss the final three games of the season with a groin injury.

Mirallas limped off in Everton's win over Manchester United and the Toffees have received bad news about the injury. He has a small tear in his groin that will see him miss the rest of the season. This is a huge blow for Everton, who are in a battle with Arsenal for the fourth and final Champions League spot. The task in front of Everton is now extremely tough as they have to face Southampton, Manchester City, and Hull City without one of their best forwards. Romelu Lukaku will be relied on to score goals and could be a decent fantasy option against Southampton this weekend.

Manchester City moved within six points of Premier League leaders Liverpool with a routine 3-1 victory over West Brom.

The scoring was opened by a rare Pablo Zabaleta goal within three minutes, before Sergio Aguero put Manchester City well in control after ten minutes with his first goal since returning from injury. West Brom threatened to rock the boat thanks to an excellent goal from Graham Dorrans, but Martin Demichelis made it 3-1 before half-time. The second half was reasonably uneventful - Liverpool stay in pole position, but if Manuel Pellegrini's men can keep their superior goal difference, they still have a chance of the title. City would need to win their final four games and hope Liverpool lose one of their final three. West Brom remain in trouble, just three points above the drop-zone.

Samuel Eto'o has been ruled out of Chelsea's midweek UCL match against Atletico Madrid with a knee injury.

Eto'o is Chelsea's most in form striker and this is a huge blow for the Blues. The extent of the injury is unknown and there is no word on whether the Cameroonian striker will be able to return for the big Premier League clash against Liverpool this weekend. Without Eto'o, Chelsea will likely start Demba Ba to lead the club at the striker position. If Chelsea can come away from tomorrow's match with a draw or a one goal loss, they should feel good about their chances of advancing. The second leg is next week.

Eden Hazard did not participate in Monday's training session but has traveled to Spain for Chelsea's Champions League match tomorrow.

Hazard not participating in training is a huge blow for Chelsea as he will almost certainly start on the bench tomorrow. The reason for him traveling is probably a late fitness check before the match; if he is determined to be fit, he could make an appearance off the bench. He has missed two weeks with the calf injury so the chances of him playing a full 90 minutes are close to zero. Andre Schurrle will likely start in his place to face Atletico Madrid.

Papiss Cisse suffered a broken knee-cap yesterday against Swansea, and is done for the season. Indeed, he's an early doubt to make next season't opener.

Newcastle's season couldn't end any worse. They're now winless in seven matches since beating Hull and risk being dumped out of the top ten by surging Crystal Palace. Cisse led the line for the Magpies in Loic Remy's absence, and the Frenchman's return eases the blow of Cisse's injury. However, it won't lift the darkening gloom around the club.

Leighton Baines delivered a top performance against Manchester United, scoring the game-winning goal and keeping a clean sheet as the Toffees keep pace with Arsenal for the final Champions League spot in a 2-0 win over Manchester United.

Everton needed to bounce back from their midweek loss to Crystal Palace and they did so in convincing fashion. While United had won the possession battle, the Toffees would not allow them any major scoring chances, as Tim Howard had very little to do. Neither side looked especially threatening until nearly a half hour in, when Romelu Lukaku blasted a shot that Phil Jones got an arm on and a penalty was awarded. Baines converted and is now 13 for 13 in that situation, an unmatched record in the PL. Before the end of the half, Seamus Coleman streaked down the right flank on a counter attack and fed Kevin Mirallas who scored his eighth goal of the season from a very tight angle. It was cruise control from then on. Everton now have the task of winning away to Southampton next week while Arsenal host floundering Newcastle. Advantage: Gunners.
