Updating a report earlier in the week, Swansea City fullback Ben Davies will be sidelined for three to four weeks due to an ankle injury, according to the club's offical website.

Scoop up Davies' all but guaranteed replacement Neil Taylor and use as a start or stash while Davies is out. Taylor is no slouch at the position, having held down the left back role before, and at a price of 3.45m, is simply too cheap to not use at least as a bench option with Swansea's nice run of fixtures on deck.

Craig Dawson has been out since late October with a knee injury but could return in some capacity against Liverpool in Week 17 Premier League action.

It shouldn't be a huge surprise that West Brom has struggled mightily in the absence of Dawson who has been one of their stalwarts in the center of defense over his tenure at the club. The departure of Tony Pulis has likely shifted the tactical approach but regardless of the approach, the Baggies will be in better shape having Dawson to anchor the defense rather than deputy Allan Nyom. Given the length of layoff, expect Dawson to be eased back into the line-up. Perhaps a substitute appearance against Liverpool and then a start in Week 18 if all goes well.

Aaron Ramsey has been in fine form but, as so often has happened with the Welshman, his fine form has been interrupted by a soft tissue injury.

Ramsey came off of the 1-1 draw with Southampton with a hamstring injury and it isn't yet clear how long it will keep him on the sidelines but Week 17 at the London Stadium will certainly come too soon. It isn't unreasonable, given Ramsey's history, to assume that he'll also miss Week 18 and possibly Week 19 as well as he recovers. Arsenal are fortunate to have a reserve the quality of Jack Wilshere to deputize for Ramsey while he recovers.

Kiko Femenia was a late scratch over the weekend and faces a fitness test before Watford's Week 17 match at Selhurst Park.

If Femenia is available, he is a solid bet to pick up both some attacking points against a suspect Crystal Palace defense as well as an above average bet for a clean sheet given Palace's issues at the other end. The problem is that we probably won't know Femenia's fate until after deadlines have passed for the PL.com fantasy format. If Femenia isn't ready to go, Daryl Janmaat will presumably deputize again opposite Jose Holebas who will likely be deputizing for the suspended Marvin Zeegelaar.

Glen Johnson will miss Stoke City's trip to Turf Moor as he continues to recover from a knee injury.

With Glen Johnson still on the mend with a knee injury, Mark Hughes turned to youngster Thomas Edwards against Spurs over the weekend. The results were not good as the Potters conceded five goals. With Johnson still out for the mid-week match against Burnley, Hughes will either have to field Edwards again or revert to Mame Biram Diouf as a wingback again after moving him further forward at Wembley. Either way, the score is unlikely to be as lopsided against the Clarets due to their style of play but conceding even one may be more than the Potters can afford to concede at Turf Moor.

Jese remains unavailable for the trip to Turf Moor due to compassionate leave granted as he looks after his sick son.

The updates are still vague when it comes to Jese and any timeline associated with his return to the Stoke City side. He will certainly miss match week 17 and given how quickly the fixtures pile up over the next couple of weeks he may well miss a significant number of matches. More information as it becomes available.

After picking up a straight red card against Burnley at the weekend, Watford's appeal of the ensuing suspension has been rejected and Zeegelaar will miss the next three matches starting with Tuesday at Crystal Palace.

As quickly as Zeegelaar and Will Hughes ascended as fantasy and real life stars for the Hornets, they are gone again back into obscurity. Hughes was felled with another in a series of injuries that have cut short his first season in the Premier League. Zeegelaar will now be absent due to his suspension. Given the velocity with which Marco Silva has successfully replaced players who either weren't available for one reason or another, it is no guarantee that either player is a starter when available again.

Crystal Palace suffered a major blow on Saturday with the loss of Mamadou Sakho, who suffered a torn calf muscle.

The summer signing from Liverpool left the club's 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in the 24th minute after pulling up with the injury and will miss weeks with manager Roy Hodgson refusing to put a timeframe on an injury that will take some time to recover from right as Palace enter the festive period. Said Hodgson: "He'll be out a long time, how long a time ?, I don't know, they won't put a time on it, but it's a serious muscle tear in his calf so I don't know, but it's weeks not days, I couldn't say if it was months. We'll miss him, in this period he's played a decisive role, been captain, shown his qualities and when you lose a player like that you can't be anything other than disappointed and sad."

Crystal Palace head into a hectic fixture period without the services of Mamadou Sakho who is expected to be sidelined for weeks rather days.

The Eagles centre-back lasted less than half an hour on Saturday as Christian Benteke failed to convert a last-minute penalty allowing Swansea, winners over West Brom, to leapfrog them. Despite improved performances of late, Roy Hodgson’s men sit bottom of the Premier League table, and with five matches between now and December 31st, the loss of the influential defender will be the cause of great concern. "I would guess [that it's a serious one]," Hodgson said after the game. "Calf strains or pulls are normally a question of weeks rather than days. He'll be assessed tomorrow. I couldn't possibly give you a timescale." His absence should at least afford Scott Dann an opportunity to return to the starting line-up following his goal on Saturday. The 30-year-old has been struggling for form recently, but having recovered from injury and illness, Dann is expected to return alongside James Tomkins.

Aaron Ramsey looks set for another spell on the sidelines after limping through the final minutes of Sunday's game at St Mary’s due to a hamstring injury.

Olivier Giroud grabbed a last-gasp point for the Gunners who trailed to a 3rd minute Charlie Austin strike. However, Arsène Wenger believes it could’ve been more with eleven players pushing for the win following an injury to Ramsey. "He has a hamstring problem," Wenger told Arsenal.com. "In the last 10 or 12 minutes if we had him fully fit it would have helped. That’s why it’s sometimes a big gamble when you [make substitutions] early." Even though initial reports suggest the problem is only minor, with such a quick turnaround between matches [Arsenal travel to West Ham on Wednesday], the Wales international is likely to miss out. Wenger has a number of potential replacements at his disposal, but the general consensus, from supporters, is that Jack Wilshere should be given his chance after impressing in the Europa League and Carabao Cup this season.

Manchester City took a major step towards its first title under Pep Guardiola with a 2-1 win at Manchester United on Sunday evening.

The Sky Blues now go 11 points over their hated rivals with the win at Old Trafford, setting an English top-flight record with their 14th straight victory this season. The bulk of the action was bundled together at the end of the first half as David Silva opened the scoring in the 43rd minute. The City captain latched onto Romelu Lukaku's errant header following a corner kick and sent it past David De Gea for the opening goal. A defensive miscue from Fabian Delph that led to Marcus Rashford's equalizer just four minutes later, but City took advantage of another Lukaku error off another set piece, pouncing on a bad clearance and finishing in the 54th minute. In team news, Vincent Kompany left at half-time, reportedly due to a flare up of his recent injury, while Sergio Aguero was left on the bench in favor of Gabriel Jesus.

The spotlight at the Theatre of Dreams was on Romelu Lukaku on Sunday—not for his prowess but for his shortcomings.

On a snowy evening at Old Trafford, Lukaku was to blame for both of Manchester City's goals in the Red Devils' 2-1 loss to their rivals, who are now 11 points clear at the top of the table. In the 43rd minute, Lukaku headed a Man City corner back in toward the center of the box, where David Silva poked it into the back of the net. Marcus Rashford answered back nicely for United just four minutes later, beating Fabian Delph down the right and coolly slotting his chance past Ederson. But in the 54th minute, Lukaku had trouble with another set piece, clearing a cross straight into the back of Chris Smalling as the ball bounced to Nicolas Otamendi in front of goal as a helpless David De Gea watched the match winner wizz past. Lukaku had a great chance in the 85th minute to equalize, but his shot from the six-yard box was deftly saved by Ederson—his face, to be exact—before Juan Mata saw his follow-up turned aside as well.
