Cardiff City managed to secure a point on the road, playing to a 0-0 draw against Norwich City at Carrow Road.

David Marshall was the hero of the day, making one exceptional save after another, which should make for a monster fantasy haul. Currently listed as having 10 saves along with the clean sheet, he should be climbing the keeper ranks this weekend. Currently priced at 5.16m, he could come into consideration given a good matchup.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper, who was part of Portugal’s Euro 2016-winning squad, has signed a one-year contract with Chelsea after spending the past two seasons with Dinamo Zagreb.

Eduardo will provide experienced competition and cover for Asmir Begovic and Thibaut Courtois. It is likely he will push Begovic, for the No.2 role, rather then pose a threat to Courtois in the starting XI. Eduardo was first-choice for Zagreb the past two seasons and has the pedigree to dethrone Begovic. At the World Cup in 2010, Eduardo was Portugal's first-choice keeper, conceding just one goal in four appearances and has 35 international caps in total. In short, a few strong performances could see Asmir Begovic lose his ranking as a top reverse keeper.

Tottenham have opened talks with Crystal Palace about a potential transfer of Wifried Zaha, who has made it known he wants to leave the Eagles.

Tottenham already have a wide man lined up to join the club in Marseille's Georges-Kevin N'Koudou but they would have no issue in adding depth to their squad as they face the rigors of a Champions League schedule. Reportedly, an initial offer of £15million is on the table for the Ivorian. Spurs look prepared to sell Nacer Chadli and Heung-Min Son for the right price so N'Koudou and Zaha could become their replacements if these deals are to go through. It will not help Zaha's fantasy value though. He stood to get regular playing time for the Eagles but would probably be relegated to a bench option most weeks were he to join the North London club.

Along with Emre Can, Divock Origi picked up an injury during Liverpool's midweek cup tie, and is a doubt heading into Week 3 against Tottenham.

From a scoreline perspective, it was a perfect evening for the Reds as they thrashed lower-league side Burton Albion, 5-0. But, it came at a cost as Origi has a muscle injury resulting from cramping. Unlike the cramp Philippe Coutinho suffered in the opening weekend, this one looks to be a bit more severe and Origi may not be fit in time for the meeting at White Hart Lane. Sadio Mane is back in the mix though, so a front three of Mane, Coutinho and Roberto Firmino is to be expected. That trio helped score four goals against Arsenal while the side that featured Daniels Sturridge last weekend came up empty against Burnley. Sturridge and Danny Ings will likely be substitute options then this weekend while Origi deals with his injury.

Max Gradel and defender Marc Wilson both scored as Bournemouth narrowly overcame Morecambe in the League Cup.

It was the club's first win of the season after failing to register a point against Manchester United or West Ham in the PL. Boss Eddie Howe rotated almost his whole squad from the side that lost at the Olympic Stadium, making 10 changes. League 2 side Morecambe created several opportunites for themselves however poor finishing and Federici's gloves saved Bournemouth's blushes. Howe will be happy to get a win but will know his first XI will need to produce a much better performance, especially defensively, if they are to get anything from Saturday's Crystal Palace clash.

A half-strength Hull overcame Exeter City 3-1 after falling behind early in the League Cup.

Adama Diomande made it 3 wins from 3 for interim boss Mike Phelan by scoring a brace. The first came from an unmarked 6 yard box header from a mid height Shaun Maloney cross from the right wing. A fortuitous bounce and decent interplay with Greg Olley gave the striker his second in the 78th minute. Less than 5 minutes later, substitute Snodgrass sealed the win with a low near-post free kick. None of the goals would conceivably have occurred against PL opposition except when a rare mistake kicks in. However, it's better for Hull's form players to be scoring than not, even against the weaker teams.

Aitor Karanka could be left without a full-back as Middlesbrough lose a Friend at Fulham in the League Cup.

Boro boss Karanka was left fuming at his sides exit from the EFL Cup on Wednesday admitting: "It’s been the kind of day where it would have been better staying at home. I told the players at half-time that they were lucky that I had only two substitutions allowed, as I would have liked to change six or seven." The loss capped a truly miserable night which saw Middlesbrough plunged into a left-back crisis after debutant Fabio was forced off just 10 minutes into his first game and his replacement – George Friend – pulled up with a muscular problem: "Fabio has hurt his knee, I don’t know how long but he won’t play at the weekend," Karanka said. "I’m waiting to hear from the doctor [to see] how George is." With James Husband [dislocated shoulder] still side-lined, Boro may be forced into using Adam Reach who is primarily a winger but can be deployed at left-back.

Pep Guardiola made a raft of changes for the Champions League home tie against Steaua Bucharest following their 5-0 first leg victory in Romania.

Joe Hart and Yaya Toure started in what was seen by many as their final game for the club. Claudio Bravo is on the verge of agreeing a £17m switch from Barcelona with Hart expected to go out on loan. While, Guardiola said Toure must "increase his intensity without the ball" before he will be considered for the Premier League. Sergio Aguero was rested with attacking responsibilities being handed to youngster Kelechi Iheanacho, and it was the 19-year-old who put a dampener on the evening after he was stretchered off with 20 minutes remaining. Iheanacho has since posted an update via Instagram regarding his injury: ‘I’m pleased to inform you all that am okay #mcfc'. However, despite the optimism, he is unlikely to shake off a hamstring problem before the visit of West Ham on Sunday.

Hull City have approached Tottenham about the possible transfer of midfielder Ryan Mason.

There are a few clubs interested in Mason, who Spurs would seem willing to let go, seeing as he is behind the likes of Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and now Victor Wanyama in the pecking order. The Tigers have a recent history of purchasing central midfielders from Tottenham, as they brought in Jake Livermore and Tom Huddlestone in their last top flight appearance. Mason, who has one cap for England, is still only 25 and could be a valuable addition to a club desperate to add depth to their squad. Should he sign with Hull, there could be some fantasy value there in just about any format.

Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have approached Tottenham about the potential signing of South Korean international Heung-Min Son.

Spurs haven't exactly advertised Son as being on the market, but if another club is willing to offer an agreeable amount of money, then he could be on his way out of White Hart Lane after only one season. The possibility would seem to rely somewhat on the sealed signing of Georges-Kevin N'Koudou from Marseille, who Tottenham looked to have been set to bring in a month ago, but the two sides had a stall in negotiations because of front office issues with the Ligue 1 club. Son never quite settled in with Spurs in his first season. He had occasional moments of positive influence but also looked to be lacking chemistry at times with his teammates when on the pitch. Son is just now returning from Rio where he played for South Korea in this summer's Olympics.

The League Cup was supposed to provide Emre Can with some much-needed game time as he steadily returns to full fitness following his European Championship exertions.

Can has found himself playing second fiddle to Jordan Henderson and summer signing Gini Wijnaldum for Liverpool’s two opening Premier League matches, but Tuesday was the ideal platform to prove himself ahead of Saturdays’ early kick-off [especially following last weekends’ poor result at Burnley]. However, it now looks like the German midfielder will be side-lined following an ankle injury which forced Can off after 71 minutes, although Klopp is optimistic the problem is "nothing too serious." Speaking after the 5-0 win at Burton Albion: "It's not that big [of a] pain anymore," he said. "But it's the ankle he had problems with at the end of last season, so he's a little bit worried." On a more positive note, Klopp confirmed Divock Origi was not injured, the Belgium striker was suffering with cramp during the latter stages of the match.

Following a specialist consultation, West Ham have confirmed that Andre Ayew does not require surgery to repair a thigh muscle tear.

Ayew was said to have suffered a "rare" and "very serious" thigh injury at Chelsea on his debut and initial reports indicated that the record buy from Swansea would be out for the remainder of the calendar year. But it now looks like Ayew could be back sooner after Stijn Vandenbroucke [Head of Medical and Sports Science] confirmed: "Andre will not have surgery and we have started the rehab straight away, working two times a day. Andre is a highly professional athlete with a positive attitude that no doubt will affect the return to play date. It is early to put a time-line on the rehab, but we are positive to reintroduce him in December." With Andy Carroll [knee] expected to miss 4-6 weeks and Diafra Sakho still recovering from a back problem, Slaven Bilic may consider reinforcements and has admitted that Wilfried Bony [on-loan] remains an "option."
