Juan Mata scored the second and last goal in Tuesday's Capital One Cup match to give Chelsea a 2-0 win over Arsenal.

Jose Mourinho told his players to give him a headache when selecting a lineup for the weekend and Mata did just that with a spectacular goal to seal the game. Mata had a good overall performance and certainly deserves a start Saturday. Whether he gets it and who makes way is still unclear as Mourinho has a tough decision to make. Chelsea visit Newcastle on Saturday.

Everton's Ramiro Funes Mori is in contention to start against Newcastle after returning from injury last week.

The Argentine international returns just in time to make a push for the World Cup team after playing in a competitive match for the first time in more than a year after recovering from an ACL injury. Ashley Williams is also in contention against Newcastle on Monday after returning from suspension, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to be fit after missing last week with a minor injury. Said Allardyce: "I am very enthusiastic [about Funes Mori’s comeback], he has trained with the first team since returning from his injury. He came off the bench and, when needed, I feel we will give him his opportunity. It is good to have a player of his experience back in his squad."

James Collins is expected to miss Sunday's trip to Arsenal as the defender continues to struggles with a hamstring issue.

Manager David Moyes is set to have the same players available for the trip to the Emirates as he had for the 1-1 draw with Stoke City. Andy Carroll and Manuel Lanzini, who both made substitute cameos, are likely to start from the bench, but defender James Collins isn't yet ready to return. "We are in good shape regarding our squad for the game," Moyes wrote in The London Evening Standard. "Angelo Ogbonna has had a bit of tendonitis in his knee but we’re hoping he will be okay while James Collins was undergoing an epidural procedure in an effort to cure a hamstring problem." Elsewhere, Moyes could drop Joe Hart after his blunder for Stoke's goal on Monday: "I’ve not made a decision on it yet. I’ll have a look at everyone in the remaining two training sessions before Sunday’s match at Arsenal and then decide."

Southampton's fight for Premier League survival suffered another blow on Thursday as a poor performance away to Leicester resulted in a 0-0 draw.

Leicester dominated the first half and had better chances, the best of which fell to striker Kelechi Iheanacho but he failed to convert. Shane Long had a good chance for the Saints after the half-time interval but stand-in Ben Hamer was able to match his shot. Tadic and Soares were equally unsuccessful with the chances which fell to them. Jamie Vardy was unable to score to extend his recent purple patch either, as Alex McCarthy stopped his effort. A nil all draw makes little difference to Leicester, but for Mark Hughes' Saints it's another set of crucial points dropped.

Chelsea continued their push for a top-four finish with a crucial 2-1 win at Burnley on Thursday.

Antonio Conte made six changes from the side that beat Southampton at the weekend. Eden Hazard dropped to the bench, Emerson was brought in for Marcos Alonso, and Olivier Giroud paired with Alvaro Morata in a two-man attack. Chelsea took the lead on 20 minutes when Victor Moses' cross deflected off Burnley defender Kevin Long and over the line for an own-goal. After Alvaro Morata missed a one-on-one chance with Nick Pope earlier in the second-half, the Clarets equalized when Johan Berg Gudmunddson's shot took a deflection off Ashley Barnes and nestled into the bottom corner. However, the visitors got the decisive goal five minutes later. Emerson provided the cross for Moses, who collected the ball and smashed it home at the near post. Chelsea now trail fourth-placed Tottenham by five points with four matches remaining.

Mark Hughes welcomes Steven Davis back into the fold after more than two months, but the Saints travel to Leicester City without Mario Lemina and Sofiane Boufal.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Mark Hughes confirmed Davis "is back in the group" although admittedly he hasn’t trained a great deal and lacks match-fitness. The Northern Ireland international sustained a hamstring strain back in February and was poised for a return in game week thirty-three at Arsenal, when he suffered a setback, injuring his Achilles. Following a couple of decent performances, but not results, Southampton need at least 3 wins from their last five games and can ill afford to lose at the King Power on Thursday with Manchester City still to play. However, they face Leicester without the services of Lemina who has "an issue with his back" affecting his hamstring, and Boufal, who is ill. Following the return of Sam McQueen to the matchday squad on Saturday, Southampton have no other injury concerns.

Jack Wilshere faces a late fitness test after missing the 2-1 defeat at Newcastle last weekend because of injury.

Arsenal take on London rivals West Ham at the Emirates and Arsène Wenger will use this game as preparation for Thursday nights Europa League semi-final tie against Atletico Madrid. "I rested some players after the Moscow match, and they will need a game......" That should include the likes of Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny and Hector Bellerin who were omitted from the matchday squad at St James' Park. Henrikh Mkhitaryan [knee] is running again and "he will be assessed over the next 4-5 days." David Ospina has fully recovered from his recent ankle problem but there is some uncertainty over Jack Wilshere who has an ankle injury. Even though Aaron Ramsey [shin laceration] is yet to train with the group, "he will be available" on Sunday. Santi Cazorla continues his rehab in Spain and there is still hope that he can return to the club before the end of the season, although he will not feature during the run-in.

The Belgian forward was 9n the bench to start but came in to put away United's 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

With the World Cup looming Lukaku's form was of some concern as the second half of the season hasn't been particularly prolific by his or United's standards. Everyone from Jose Mourinho to Roberto Martinez will be happy to see Lukaku score as the season winds down.

Sergio Aguero's arthroscopic surgery could have more repercussions that just the end of the Premier League season.

Aguero has likely been ruled out for the remainder of the season after sustaining a couple knocks to his knee over the last few weeks, but Argentina's team doctor has his doubts over Aguero's place in the World Cup team this summer, saying that the star striker at least won't be 100 %. Said Homero D'Agostino: "That a player has undergone an arthroscope with 60 days to go before the World Cup is worrying. The recovery process will require at least five weeks...It's never going to be less than three or four weeks, or even more. I imagine that he will not arrive 100 percent fit with the limited time that is left before the World Cup."

Adam Lallana is going global in an attempt to fast-track his recovery from a hamstring related problem.

The Liverpool midfielder has endured an injury ravaged campaign which didn’t start until November after he suffered a thigh muscle strain during the penultimate game of pre-season. Niggling issues and a lack of match fitness have restricted Lallana to a single Premier League start in 2017/18. And after suffering another setback at Selhurst Park earlier this month – an injury which is likely to end any hope of featuring at the World Cup finals – the 29-year-old has travelled to South Africa to receive specialist treatment at the Sports Science Institute in Cape Town. The rehabilitation centre was selected by the club’s medical department to aid his return to fitness, as they had done previously, when Lallana attended the world-renowned Aspetar Clinic in Doha. Meanwhile, Liverpool face West Bromwich Albion on Saturday and Jurgen Klopp is hoping to have defender Joe Gomez back amongst the ranks following his return to full training this week.

Renato Sanches has returned to South Wales and he is determined to play a part in Swansea’s final push for Premier League survival.

The Bayern Munich midfielder is back after a short-stint of rehabilitation at his parent club and is hoping to end his season on a high following an injury-plagued campaign. Sanches has been hampered throughout his loan spell due to a persistent hamstring problem, the latest of which has kept the 20-year-old out since January. His 12 Premier League appearances drew mixed reviews as he struggled to adapt to the rigours of top-flight football after spending most of 2016/17 watching from the sidelines. The former Young Portugal Player of the Year looks a pale shadow of the explosive and skilful star who first come to the worlds’ attention during Euro 2016. With only five games remaining, Sanches still has a chance of proving his critics wrong by helping Swansea beat the drop. He will be assessed by the clubs’ medical staff at Fairwood training complex ahead of a possible return to action.

Shinji Okazaki and Kasper Schmeichel will be assessed ahead of game with Southampton.

The pair picked up injuries during the 2-1 defeat at Turf Moor last weekend and face a race against time to make Thursday night’s contest. Okazaki was replaced at the break because of an ankle injury, and if he fails to recover, then Claude Puel may look to Kelechi Iheanacho who could come in for only his fourth league start of the season. However, the loss of ever-present Schmeichel will be of cause of greater concern, with Ben Hamer and Eldin Jakupović on standby: "We will see tomorrow [Wednesday]. For the moment, he cannot train with us." Matty James [Achilles] and Vicente Iborra [hamstring] will miss the run-in but midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is back in contention after completing his two-match suspension. Daniel Amartey re-joined the first team on the training pitches today "but it is not enough time to be available," the Leicester boss revealed during his pre-match press conference.
