Man Utd are back in the Champions League knock-out stages for the first time in three seasons after finishing out the group stages with a 2-1 win over Russian outfit CSKA Moscow.

The victory was enough to give the Red Devils first place in Group A. United had a great early chance after 4 minutes but Marcus Rashford hit the post and CSKA took the lead before half time in controversial circumstances when Vitinho's shot deflected into the net off Alan Dzagoev who was offside. However United struck back first through Lukaku, assisted by Paul Pogba who they will miss in their next three PL games. Rashford struck minutes later to finish the turnaround and that was how it stayed. Luke Shaw played the full 90 and did well overall but could have the finger pointed at him for failing to track a runner for the first goal. Sergio Romero started in goals to give De Gea a well-earned rest after his heroics vs Arsenal.

Crystal Palace have kept defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka in south London during the international break due to injury.

Wan-Bissaka has started every single Premier League game but one this season, which he missed due to suspension, but will miss international duty with the England U21 side due to a shoulder problem. The 20-year-old has been one of the hottest fantasy picks of the season due to his low price in FPL.com (£4.1) and reliability as a starter. His first start saw him earn praise from across the league, including some transfer interest. Said manager Roy Hodgson: "As far as we're concerned of course we have him as our player, he's under contract with us and we have no desire or intention of selling him so it's certainly not anything which occupies my waking moments or sleeping moments either for that matter,"

Brighton & Hove Albion officially announced that forward Glenn Murray has signed a one-year contract extension.

It's remarkable that the Premier League journeyman continues to produce at the rate he is, leading the team with six goals to put him behind only Sergio Aguero, Eden Hazard, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this season. The 35-year-old is now guaranteed a contract through the summer of 2020 after scoring his 100th goal for the Seagulls. Said Murray: "It means a lot that the club has shown another year's faith in me. I just want to carry on in the form I'm in at the minute and continue scoring goals at this level for Brighton. I don't think at any stage of my career I'd have believed I would be getting another contract in the Premier League at this age, but you just never know what can happen in football."

Danny Welbeck is already on the road to recovery following his release from hospital on Tuesday.

The Arsenal forward confirmed via his personal Twitter account that he was: "Back home..." after being admitted on Thursday evening following an awkward landing in the Europa League tie versus Sporting which left him with a broken ankle. "Thanks for all the love and support," his social media post read. "No doubt I will be back stronger than ever before. Recovery grind starts now." Unai Emery revealed after the 1-1 draw with Wolves that Welbeck went under the knife on Friday, although he was unwilling to give a potential time frame on his absence. "I think it’s better for the doctor to say to you. It’s a big injury but the outcome… the doctor can answer that better than me." The club then confirmed a planned second operation had taken place on his right ankle and that both procedures went well, without complications. "Danny will now recuperate and start his rehabilitation. It’s too early to say how long this will take."

The Football Association have confirmed Tottenham Hotspur full-back Kieran Tripper has been withdrawn from the upcoming international fixtures against the United States and Croatia.

Trippier limped off after 24 minutes at Selhurst Park on Saturday due to a muscular problem, and his involvement during the break, was always in doubt despite an optimistic update from manager Mauricio Pochettino after the win over Palace. "I don't believe it will be a big issue," he said. "It's a groin, he felt a little tired. We'll see if he's involved on international duty or not." But, after an assessment at St George’s Park, Trippier was released from the squad and will return to Hotspur Way for treatment. Spurs take on London-rivals Chelsea in the late kick-off when the Premier League reconvenes on November 24, and if Tripper fails to recover, Tottenham have a readymade replacement in Serge Aurier. The Ivory Coast understudy has only started one league game in 2018/19 – the opener at Newcastle – but he has featured more prominently in domestic cup competition and in Europe.

Ivory Coast international Wilfried Zaha will miss Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea due to injury.

The talismanic Crystal Palace attacker was a surprise omission from the matchday squad on Saturday after he failed to recover from an unreported hamstring strain which he suffered during the defeat at Stamford Bridge six days earlier. Roy Hodgson decided against disclosure during Thursday’s press conference, as Zaha was still hopeful of playing. "Nothing special to report at the moment," he said. "We haven't recovered any of the injured players, but haven't lost any [new ones] either." However, Zaha missed the Tottenham clash with most speculating that a late training ground injury was the cause for his absence, although Hodgson confirmed later that his involvement was always in the balance. "He picked up a hamstring injury against Chelsea and it was always extremely unlikely he would recover in time, basically it is trying to get him fit for Manchester United [in game week 13]."

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini said he hopes that forward Andy Carroll can return this month from an ankle injury.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle frontman is expected to play in a friendly this week in his first action since the preseason when he suffered a recurrence of a previous injury. But the Hammers could be in for a boost for the festive period with Jack Wilshere also starting to work with the squad. Said Pellegrini: "Andy is close to playing again. At the start of last week he started working a little bit with the squad, not 100 per cent, and he will work again this week. On Thursday we will play a friendly game and we'll see if he can play some minutes, and I think in the second week of the international break Jack Wilshere will also be able to work with the squad."

Manchester City officially announced a new three-year contract extension for star winger Raheem Sterling.

The 23-year-old will now become the third-highest player in the Premier League (behind Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil) under a new contract that will pay him up to £300,000-a-week through the 2023 season. Sterling is enjoying one of his best seasons yet with six goals and five assists through 12 games this seasons, enough to link him with a potential move to Real Madrid. Said the England international: "I’m delighted to sign. My development here has been incredible. I felt from the minute I got here it was the right choice for me. It’s really paid off for me and I’m really grateful. Every season you come in you want to do better than your previous season. You want to try and develop and get better."

An injury, picked up by Paul Pogba in Champions League on Wednesday, kept the United star out of the Manchester derby.

There had been no specific mention of a problem by Jose Mourinho during Friday mornings press conference. "No new injuries," he told MUTV. "So, from Juventus, we don't bring important injuries. We have 'touches’, but I don't think any player that was available [midweek] will be out." However, news broke in the afternoon that Pogba was training away from the main group and concerns began to grow further when he was missing as the squad checked in at their pre-match base – The Lowry Hotel – on Saturday. Mourinho explained his absence from the matchday 18 on Sunday. "Paul is injured. He was injured during the game in Turin. He felt that it was such a crucial match for the team. He made that sacrifice for us, and then it was impossible for him to recover." Pogba has been withdrawn from the France squad and will focus on recovering from a thigh complaint during the international break.

Gylfi Sigurdsson will not feature in the UEFA Nations League game against Belgium after limping off at Stamford Bridge.

Marco Silva was fuming following a nasty challenge by Chelsea midfielder Jorginho which left the Iceland international in agony. "Did you see the tackle?" the Everton boss raged. "I hope we don't lose Sigurdsson for the next matches after that tackle. I think he's not in a condition to play for the national team." The Icelandic Football Federation have now confirmed that Sigurdsson will play no part on Thursday, although they remain hopeful he could still feature against Qatar in seven days - he will have a scan this week to determine the extent of his ankle injury. Meanwhile, Everton resume their Premier League campaign on November 24 when Cardiff visit Goodison Park, and if Sigurdsson fails to recover, then Silva has a number of options to consider. One of those would be to drop Richarlison a little deeper, into the number ten role, with Cenk Tosun returning to lead the line.

David Wagner is fearing the worst after right-back Chris Lowe was stretchered from the field moments before half-time on Saturday.

The defender went down holding his right arm following a heavy collision with Fabian Balbuena and was immediately taken for a scan. "He has a shoulder [ligament] injury which looks serious," Wagner said after his sides 1-1 draw with West Ham. "He is in the hospital at the minute and we have to wait to see how serious it will be, but he will be out for a few weeks." The German has started all but one Premier League encounter, dropping to the bench against Cardiff [GW3], a fixture which saw Terence Kongolo move across onto the left flank. However, in a back four, that meant Mathias ‘Zanka’ Jorgensen playing centrally and he is suspended for the trip to Wolves after collecting his fifth caution of the campaign. If compatriot Erik Durm can remain fit, then he could possibly nail down a regular starting berth for the first time in an injury ravaged 18 months.
Nov 12 - 11:12 AM

Manchester City dominated from the off at the Etihad and deservedly took all three points in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

City grabbed the lead early through their two Silvas. Sterling crossed to the far post to Bernardo Silva, who sent the ball across the goal for captain David Silva to finish. City held control for the rest of the half but they didn't pressure their red rivals as they had. After the break, Pep's side tried to put memories of last year's derby comeback by United to bed when Aguero riffled home, but United struck back from the penalty spot through Martial after sub Romelu Lukaku was fouled by Ederson. United pressed City and an equaliser looked possible before Ilkay Gundogan scored City's third and ended the contest.
