Two second half goals from Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard gave Manchester United all three points at Everton.

Sam Allardyce suffered his second consecutive league loss as Everton manager in the face of a good performance by Man Utd. In the first half United pushed forward but yet again lacked a clinical edge, attempting too many shots from distance and failing to give a good final ball. Their opponents were no better. Juan Mata hit the bar after the interval before United took the lead. Mata and Pogba combined well before the latter set up Martial who finished well. Pogba's assist was duly deserved in such a fine performance where he proved a threat on Pickford's goal. He again assisted Lingard when they doubled the lead but his role was minor as Lingard's effort was successful because of stunning individual play. United's confidence will have been boosted by such a good performance and for once, they have gained points on Man City in first.

Andriy Yarmolenko’s season hangs in the balance after the West Ham winger was stretchered off during Saturdays loss to London-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The summer signing from Borussia Dortmund was just beginning to find his feet following a slow start to his Premier League career. Yarmolenko made his full debut at Goodison Park [GW5] scoring twice and has become staple of Manuel Pellegrini’s line-up. Post-match the Hammers boss confirmed Yarmolenko had a problem "between his foot and his ankle" with early tests confirming an Achilles injury. However, a further assessment confirmed a rupture and plans are already afoot to undergo surgery. Reports suggest the 28-year-old could be missing for around six months, although Premier League injury data collected over the previous decade indicates that the average return-to-play is nearer to seven months [221 days] meaning Yarmolenko would miss the final domestic fixture of the campaign on May 12. His absence opens the door to Grady Diangana who announced his first-team arrival with a standout performance in the 8-0 demolition of Macclesfield in the Carabao Cup last month.

Everton got two last-minute goals from substitutes Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun for a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

From the 60th minute on, this game looked like Everton's to win after Jordan Pickford kept the game scoreless with a massive penalty save on a shot from Luka Milivojevic. The Toffees took the lead in the 87th minute when Ademola Lookman found Dominic Calvert-Lewin with an inch-perfect cross for the easy header, just five minutes after the duo came off the bench in one last hope for Marco Silva. Then it was Tosun who broke away on a counterattack in the 89th with Palace pressing forward and finished underneath Wayne Hennessey for the three points at Goodison.

Despite a hard-fought effort, Crystal Palace was left heartbroken in the end of a 2-0 away loss at the hands of Everton.

After a three-match unbeaten streak, Palace has not been able to carry over that momentum into October as they dive further into a three-match losing streak. Despite Wilfried Zaha overcoming an adductor injury suffered during the international break, Palace could only manage three shots on target. But their best chance came in the 60th minute after Zaha was taken down in the box by Seamus Coleman. Luka Milivojevic, who is usually a sure-footed penalty taker, sent a lazy effort right down the middle that was saved by the outstretched legs of Jordan Pickford. Palace were left to regret their one chance when the Toffees scored two goals in the final five minutes of the match to steal the three points from a solid effort on the visitors' part.

Mohamed Salah scored the only goal of the match as Liverpool picked up a tightly contested win at the John Smith Stadium.

He still doesn't look close to the dominating force of last season but Liverpool supporters and fantasy managers alike will welcome a sign of life from the Egypt international. Xherdan Shaqiri, subbing in for an injured Sadio Mane, assisted. The win sees the Reds maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Brighton claimed their first away win of the season in a 1-0 victory at Newcastle, but the result came at a hefty cost, with striker Glenn Murray stretched off earlier following a clash of heads.

Murray went down in the ninth minute following a sickening aerial collision with Newcastle defender Federico Fernandez and taken off on a stretcher after six minutes of treatment. Despite losing their leading scorer this season, Brighton responded and scored what proved to be the decisive goal when Beram Kayal deflected in Jose Izquierdo's strike in the 29th minute. The Seagulls were under fire for the rest of the match as Newcastle attempted 27 shots on goal. Jonjo Shelvey went closest to finding the equaliser, but Mat Ryan twice denied the midfielder. Brighton is now 12th on 11 points, while the Magpies are bottom with just two points.

Abdoulaye Doucoure assisted on both goals less than a minute apart as Watford traveled to the Molineux and beat form team Wolves 2-0 to halt a 5 match winless drought.

Proof that momentum is great for stories in the media but meaningless when it comes to predicting results. Wolves had all of the positive signs. They were playing at home. They have been on a hot streak. Their opponents, Watford, were struggling mightily. Easy, home win, right? Not so fast. Doucoure's assists to Etienne Capoue and Roberto Pereyra in the 20th and 21st minutes respectively were all the scoring that this match would see and Watford would need to reverse the momentum of both clubs coming into the match.

Rui Patricio was good but not good enough to save Wolves from falling to their first defeat in the Premier League since mid-August.

Patricio didn't have much of a chance on either goal that was scored. The Portugal international was caught flatfooted with Etienne Capoue's opener went through the legs of one of his center backs. Just a minute later, Roberto Pereyra's effort was strong enough that no keeper would have saved it. Ultimately, for everyone who has invested in the Wolves back line and in Patricio for fantasy purposes, there's no need to panic. Watford are an above average team and they got the bounces on this day. Not great news for the short-term but there's no reason to be concerned that there's a trend building.

Scoring multiple goals for only the second time this season, Cardiff City left the relegation zone with a 4-2 win over Fulham.

It has been a rough start to the season for the Bluebirds that has them pinned as relegation favourites but a home clash with Fulham was just what the doctor ordered. Cardiff went behind early due to a close finish from Andre Schurrle but Josh Murphy equalized quickly. This game would then become a track meet but Cardiff wouldn’t trail the rest of the way. Bobby Reid (midfielder playing forward), Callum Paterson (Defender playing forward) and Kadeem Harris would all find the back of the net and Ryan Sessengnon would score Fulham’s other goal. It is only the second time that Cardiff has scored more than one goal this season and it takes them out of the relegation zone on goal difference for now.

Andre Schurrle scored for the second straight game but it wasn’t enough as Fulham fell 4-2 away to Cardiff City.

While scoring goals hasn’t been an issue for the Cottagers, defending has been a problem as Fulham has now allowed 25 goals on the season. It’s the worst number in the league by over six goals and no amount of goals that they can score will help as Fulham slipped into the relegation zone today. Andre Schurrle netted the opener in the 11th minute and then Cardiff put on a show with Josh Murphy, Bobby Reid, Callum Patterson, and Kadeem Harris all finding the back of the net. The one bright side is that Ryan Sessegnon also scored in the 34th minute but injuries to Joe Bryan, Calum Chambers, and Timothy Fosu-Mensah have Fulham leaking goals to a disturbing degree. It’s tough to trust them in fantasy unless this is resolved and if it isn’t they’ll likely mirror QPR in their relegation season in 2015.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is targeting a return in December after stepping up his recovery from a serious knee ligament injury.

The Bluebirds winger has been side-lined since August after a heavy collision with Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Ben Hamer after just 10 minutes at the John Smith’s Stadium. It was initially feared that Mendez-Laing could miss the remainder of the campaign following a suggestion that he had damaged his anterior cruciate ligament, but tests revealed it was the posterior ligament meaning he could potentially return before Christmas without the need of surgery. "He’s done really well," City’s Head of Medical Services Matthew May said. "He’s a couple of months post-injury now, and he’s just starting on the anti-gravity treadmill. There’ll be a two-week build-up on that before we’ll get him out on the grass. So, we’re hopefully looking to see him back to training and match-play around six weeks from now." Neil Warnock has switched between Josh Murphy and Junior Hoilett in his absence with neither player being able to nail down a starting berth.

Southampton's visit to the Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth on Saturday ended up in a scoreless draw.

The team news reveal an hour before kick-off was probably the most dramatic moment concerning the game. Ryan Fraser and Josh King passed late fitness tests to unexpectedly start. Charlie Austin and Danny Ings led the Saints' line. Callum Wilson had a chance in the opening minute whilst Brooks and Hojbjerg also recorded first half efforts. Mario Lemina picked up a knock and was replaced after the hour mark, just minutes after Josh King toed a good opportunity wide. Both sides had a few more chances, and Bournemouth had a penalty appeal turned down as a tackle by Cedric was adjudged to be legal. The battle of the south coast left us goalless, though Southampton needed a win much more than the Cherries.
