Hull City made difficult work of a match that saw Sunderland do everything they could to give away the three points.

It isn't clear what else Sunderland could have done for Hull City other than abandoning the pitch entirely. First there was an own goal from Carlos Cuellar. Keiran Westwood went off injured toward the end of the first half. As if that wasn't enough, Sunderland managed to lose TWO players - Lee Catermole and Andrea Dossena - to red cards in first half stoppage time. You might have expected Hull to score freely in the second half but all they could do was manage to keep the clean sheet for Steve Harper and the defense.

Glen Johnson is battling an illness that could see him miss the squad when Liverpool host Manchester City on Sunday.

Johnson has not been a part of the plans in recent months as he doesn't fit quite well in Brendan Rodgers' wingback formation. He did get a run out in the last league match to finish things up so perhaps Rodgers is looking for a way to freshen him up. For this weekend either way, he is hands off with his spot nowhere near guaranteed, a tough fixture against Man City, and now with an illness to clear.

With Andy Carroll and Carlton Cole both absent, Nene will likely be involved in West Ham's match with Crystal Palace at Upton Park on Saturday.

The former PSG man arrived as a free agent after the transfer window closed due to West Ham's injury crisis at the forward position. It is likely that Sam Alardyce will start Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia against the Eagles leaving Nene on the bench. If a substitute at forward is in the cards, Nene will almost certainly be the first man off the bench. If he does get in the match it will be instructive to see what sort of impact he can have before making any decisions to bring him into a fantasy team regardless of format.

Roberto Martinez has ruled Christian Atsu out of contention for Everton's trip to the Emirates on Sunday due to an illness, but expects to have him back for the midweek round.

Martinez has praised Atsu's performance of late, and it has earned the wide man more pitch time. Naturally, the manager will feel pressed to find production from wherever he can as he tries to guide the Toffees toward a run of wins. Because of that, predicting his XI these days has been as difficult as ever and until they start playing better, the players who do start are hard to trust to come good. With that in mind along with the fixture, there should be limited investment here.

Aaron Ramsey will likely have trained fully on today by the time this is posted but despite the positive progress he is highly unlikely to be ready for Arsenal's match with Everton on Sunday.

Ramsey is close to being recovered from the latest recurrence of his hamstring issue but Week 27 will come too soon for him to feature and it is highly likely that the same will be true of Week 28 in mid-week. Santi Cazorla is currently manning the deeper-lying midfield distributor role beside Francis Coquelin. This alignment allows Cazorla, Ozil, Sanchez, and Walcott/Welbeck to feature in the same line-up around Olivier Giroud. Ramsey faces an uphill battle to regain his spot once he does return to health.

Kieran Richardson limped off late in the first half of Aston Villa's Week 26 defeat to Stoke City and will not be ready in time for their Week 27 trip to Newcastle.

With Aly Cissokho also questionable due to injury, Tim Sherwood is facing a bit of a crisis at left back as his relegation-threatened squad head to St. James Park. With the threat of the drop very much real Sherwood's managerial creativity will be tested if he has to cope with a makeshift left back in addition to missing Ron Vlaar who will be suspended after picking up two yellow cards against the Potters.

Aly Cissokho could compound Aston Villa's defensive issues if he isn't able to recover from a knock in time to face Newcastle on Saturday.

With Kieran Richardson out with a calf issue, Cissokho is the next in line to play left back for the Villains. With Ron Vlaar definitely missing through suspension and Nathan Baker, Alan Hutton and Philippe Senderos all uncertain as well it could be a makeshift defense that faces the Magpies. Even if more than one of the doubts manages to start it seems certain that Villa's defense will be at something less than it's best.

Aston Villa's defensive crisis is at an epic stage with no fewer than six defenders potentially missing out on Saturday's trip to Newcastle including Alan Hutton.

Hutton hasn't been ruled out entirely but he, like most of the rest of Villa's defense, could well miss out on the trip to Newcastle. Leandro Bacuna is likely to deputize for Hutton if he is unable to play. That swap, combined with the other likely absences could leave Villa vulnerable at the back as Bacuna is known as more of an attacking presence than a defensive one.

Sunderland will be without some key players ahead of the trip to Old Trafford in Week 27.

Gus Poyet has decided not to risk Jack Rodwell [calf] and Billy Jones [ankle] for the trip to Old Trafford instead the Black Cats boss will keep the pair for the midweek clash with Hull City. A knee injury will keep Will Buckley out and Emanuele Giaccherini [ankle] is expected to miss the remainder of the campaign after the Italian international went under the knife again. Patrick van Aanholt comes back into contention – the defender was a surprise omission for the West Brom match but following the return of Anthony Reveillere Poyet opted for a more physical presence to try and combat the Baggies size.

Jack Wilshere will miss at least Arsenal's Week 27 and 28 matches after he had a minor procedure on his ankle.

The procedure was not targeted at a new issue but rather to clean up some discomfort from the procedure that Wilshere had in the wake of his November ankle injury. With Aaron Ramsey close to (another) return and Santi Cazorla playing in the role that Ramsey and Wilshere have been occupying most recently, it isn't clear how much playing time there will be for Wilshere when he does return.

Manuel Pellegrini confirmed Manchester City have a clean bill of health ahead of the Week 27 clash with Liverpool

After James Milner returned from a minor knee ligament injury to face Barcelona in the Champions League Manuel Pellegrini confirmed Manchester City have a clean bill of health "the whole squad is fit." David Silva, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero were all hugely impressive during the win over Newcastle so don’t expect too much to change. With Stevan Jovetic seemingly out of the equation Wilfried Bony looks to be battling it out with Edin Dzeko for a place alongside Kun but with the Bosnian back to full fitness he won’t be giving up his place easily.

Jordan Henderson, left out of the side that traveled to Turkey for the Europa Cup, will be assessed ahead of Liverpool's big clash with Manchester City in Week 27.

Henderson missed out on the Europa Cup loss with an ankle issue picked up in the win over Southampton in Week 26. With the top four of the Premier League the only avenue left for Liverpool to make next season's Champions League, Brendan Rodgers will be pushing hard to have his best team available to face the defending champions. A win over City and Liverpool can feel good about their chances at the top four after a brutal recent schedule. A loss and the climb will start to look pretty tough.
