Erik Lamela scored his first goal for Tottenham as they ran out 2-1 winners over Sheriff Tiraspol to qualify for the next stage of the Europa League.

Lamela put in a man of the match performance, scoring the opening goal with a nice finish before producing a wonderful run past three defenders which ended with the club record signing being brought down for a penalty. Jermain Defoe dispatched the spot kick before Sheriff grabbed a consolation goal. Spurs fans will be relieved to finally see Lamela showing his quality and the attacker could be in contention to start against Newcastle this weekend.

Crystal Palace will receive a major boost in midfield with Yohan Cabaye and James McArthur both returning from injury.

The central midfield pairing missed the club's opening match against Huddersfield Town as they recovered from injuries that hampered them in the preseason. However, the Eagles will have to cope without star winger Wilfried Zaha for about the next four weeks due to a knee injury. Said manager Frank de Boer: "Apart from him we do have most of the squad ready although some may not be fit for 90 minutes for example Yohan Cabaye and James McArthur are ready to be available to play some minutes for us."

Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has a chance to make his debut against Everton on Monday.

The 23-year-old missed the club's opening match with Brighton as he recovers from a thigh injury, but has a chance to make his debut against Everton as he is in the final stages of his recovery. Danilo filled in for the Frenchman, who became the most expensive defender in the world with a £52 million move from Monaco in July. Said manager Pep Guardiola: "Mendy is at last part of his rehabilitation – still not 100 percent but he’s almost done. And Fabian Delph, too, is the same position as Mendy, so we have all the players fit."

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner revealed striker Nahki Wells is expected to miss five to seven weeks following an ankle operation.

Wells was not expected to feature against Newcastle United, as the former club record £1.3m signing underwent surgery early this month to have a screw removed from his ankle. Speaking on Wells' status ahead of Sunday's clash at the John Smiths' Stadium, Wagner confirmed the striker had his stitches out on Thursday and won't likely be ready until sometime around the second international break (October 2-10). With first-choice striker Steve Mounie coming off a brace against Crystal Palace and Collin Quaner having faired well off the substitute's bench, the absence of the Bermuda international is nothing more than a slight knock to the frontline depth. When Wells does return, he will face big competition from Quaner and Laurent Depoitre for a place in the first team.

Huddersfield Town defender Martin Cranie has been ruled out of Sunday's match with Newcastle and isn't expected to return until after the international break.

The 30-year-old was held out of the season opener against Crystal Palace last weekend with a hip flexor, which manager David Wagner says will force him to miss another four weeks. While Cranie was not expected to challenge for a place in the starting XI, his extended absence leaves the Terriers thin for depth at right-back. This means the backup right-back role will now be held by midfielder Danny Williams, who featured off the bench in relief of captain Tommy Smith in the 3-0 victory at Selhurst Park.

Pedro remains in doubt for Sunday's match with Tottenham after he reported pain in his ankle during training on Friday.

The Spanish attacker missed out on the 3-2 defeat by Burnley last weekend with an ankle knock and had hoped to make his season debut at Wembley this Sunday. However, the 30-year-old will likely miss out again having experienced discomfort in his ankle when he trained on Friday. Pedro's absence should see Willian retain his place in the starting XI alongside either Michy Batshuayi or Jeremie Boga. Meanwhile, Alvaro Morata is expected to make his first Premier League start.

With Daryl Janmaat out 2-3 weeks with a groin injury, Kiko will likely be thrust into the starting role after deputizing in Week 1 after the Dutch international's injury.

I wouldn't expect a great deal fantasy-wise from Kiko but he is a starter who is likely available in almost all draft leagues. The opposition for the Hornets in Week 2, Bournemouth, isn't a walk-over by any means but if you believe that Marco Silva will get better results than his predecessors then a road win against a Cherries side that didn't look great in Week 1 against West Brom isn't out of the realm of possibility.

After bringing in former big name prospect Jese from PSG, Mark Hughes will have to decide if he will feature from the bench or get a start in his first week with the team.

Given the lack of production that Stoke City got from their forwards last weekend, it wouldn't be surprising to see Hughes role the dice and start the former Real Madrid trainee against the Gunners. It certainly isn't a great idea to count on Jese to start or be productive given the lack of chances created by the rest of Potters last weekend against the Toffees but if you need a forward in a draft format then he's worth a punt.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed that Tiemoue Bakayoko could be available for Chelsea's match against Tottenham at Wembley.

Bakayoko has not featured for the senior side since joining from Monaco this summer due to a knee operation, but could be rushed into action this weekend with Cesc Fabregas suspended. The absence of Fabregas leaves just one natural option in central midfielder, N'Golo Kante, which Conte admitted could force him to include Bakayoko in his matchday squad: "The only worry is when you try to put players in very soon, the risk to have another injury is high, this is my worry. But we have to face this situation and we have to take some risks." Though the French international isn't fully fit, he could potentially feature as a sub or in the starting XI. Should Conte opt against risking his £40m signing, David Luiz or Andreas Christensen could start alongside Kante.

Jonny Evans is suffering from a hamstring issue and will likely miss Albion's trip to Turf Moor in Week 2.

With Evans likely out and Gareth McAuley still recovering as well, Ahmed Hegazi will almost certainly join Craig Dawson in the center of defense for Tony Pulis' side at Turf Moor in Week 2. If the rumors of Evans' move to the Etihad come to fruition then both players, Evans and Hegazi, could see their fantasy value rise with Hegazi potentially graduating to presumed starter while Evans would be likely to see more clean sheets at the Etihad than at the Hawthorns.

With Jonny Evans and Gareth McAuley both ailing and doubtful for Week 2, Ahmed Hegazi is a solid bet as a fill-in for Week 2 but if the transfer rumors are to be believed, he could be more than that.

It is hardly a sure thing but Week 1's surprise scorer for West Brom could be set to see his value rise significantly. With rumors circling around a second Manchester City bid for Jonny Evans after a first was rejected and Gareth McAuley starting the season gimpy and 37-years-old, Ahmed Hegazi could move quickly from unknown to Premier League starter. He isn't likely to be a regular scorer but he could be in the middle of a significant number of clean sheets and his peripheral stats (10 clearances, 4 Aerial Duels Won, 2 Shots on Target, and a Chance Created) speak to a great all-around Premier League debut rather than just a fluky goal. One to watch for sure if he hasn't already been snapped up in your league.

Gareth Barry is eligible to play for Tony Pulis this weekend and is likely to be given his first action as either a starter or a substitute.

Tony Pulis loves a veteran Premier League campaigner and that's exactly what he has in Gareth Barry. With a Darren Fletcher-sized hole at the base of his midfield, there is certainly room for Barry to step in and partner Jake Livermore in providing a wall in front of the defense as well as initiating the attack. Don't expect Barry to provide much in the way of points in the Premier League's scoring format but he could be more interesting in a format that rewards peripheral contributions more directly.
