Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany insists he is "not worried" about the injury scare which forced him off against Portugal last weekend.

There were concerns that the 32-year-old could miss out in Russia, but Roberto Martinez insisted on naming Kompany in Belgium’s 23-man squad: "His strength is that he has a real winning mentality. We want to give him every opportunity to be there. It is a World Cup, not a friendly international, so we take this exceptional decision." And it looks like Kompany is ready to repay his manager’s faith after revealing on Friday that he was almost ready for the tournament: "I’m not worried. I’m pretty confident. I’m feeling good. It’s still my goal to play at the World Cup and I will try everything to make it. My suitcases are packed." Laurent Ciman will remain with the squad, on the standby list, after playing 90 minutes in a comfortable 3-0 win over Egypt on Wednesday.

Manchester United looked poised to continue the attempted turnaround of their season as Anthony Martial scored twice, but Chelsea would score an equalizer at the death as the Red Devils could only take a point.

A draw at Stamford Bridge might have been a positive result heading into this one, but it certainly didn't feel that way at the end of the match, as Jose Mourinho had to be restrained, livid with the celebratory actions of a Chelsea assistant coach. Chelsea scored the opener and took their lead into the second half but Martial would level on 55 minutes, sticking home a loose ball after a series of chances. Eighteen minutes later, Martial gave United the lead, putting home a Marcus Rashford ball. Coming off a goal and assist performance against Newcastle, Martial has erupted.

In a match where both sides had the lead, a goal by Ross Barkley in the final moments got Chelsea to share the points with Manchester Unites in a 2-2 final at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea took the lead in the first half through Antonio Rudiger, who did well to escape his marker on a corner kick from Willian and steered a strong header home on 21 minutes. The first half was otherwise uneventful, but this was a slow burn payoff as things heated up in the second half. Manchester United found some inspiration and were able to turn the game around, scoring twice and entered stoppage time with the lead. In the sixth and final added minute, substitute Ross Barkley would play the hero as he stuck home a ball that originally hit the post before Rudiger got a touch, giving the defender an assist along with his goal. Tempers flared between the benches as Chelsea's celebration sent Jose Mourinho into a rage. The Blues have a trip to Burnley up next.

The remarkable return of Kevin De Bruyne will be complete on Saturday after being cleared from a knee injury.

Saturday's game against Burnley will mark just over two months to the day when De Bruyne went down with an LCL injury in the season opener against Arsenal. He was expected to miss three months, but manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that the Belgian international is fully fit to play on Saturday, returning alongside Fabian Delph. Said the manager: "Yes [he is fit]. I don’t know if he is able to play 90 minutes. He trained the last two weeks. He has no pain and is ready to be part of the group. He is such an important player for us. Whenever a player is out, I like when they come back because the stronger we will be. Kevin, there is no doubt how important he is for us."

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson confirmed that Wilfried Zaha will have one more day to prove his fitness.

The winger, who hasn't scored since Gameweek 5, withdrew from international duty with Ivory Coast last week after sustaining an adductor strain. However, with Crystal Palace playing on Sunday against Everton, Zaha is expected to train on Saturday in the hopes that he could be available in Gameweek 9. Said Hodgson. "It's a strain that players get on a regular basis, some recover quicker than others and we're fortunate he is a quicker than normal 'recoverer' but it will depend on the extent on the injury whether one week is a possibility in terms of recovery. It's good news that he's close enough to be assessed, to see if he is fit enough to play."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was coy on the injury status of star wingers Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's game against Huddersfield Town, Klopp said the club will continue to monitor Salah (groin injury) and Mane (broken thumb) but confirmed that they have been involved in training this week. However, he has ruled out Naby Keita due to a hamstring injury suffered during the international break while also all but confirming Virgil van Dijk is fit to return from a minor rib injury. "We had a session yesterday and a few of the boys trained, so we’ll have to see how they’ve reacted after that. The only thing that is pretty sure is that Naby will not be available; with all the rest we have to see how it develops. That’s it, pretty much."

Petr Cech is back in training but still not training with the first team so Monday's Week 9 clash with Leicester City will come too soon for the Czech shotstopper. Bernd Leno will deputize again.

Bernd Leno has been very good in replacing Petr Cech. Unai Emery hasn't had to make a choice between his goalkeepers yet because Cech is still out injured. When the former Chelsea man does return, Emery will have a legitimately difficult choice. Cech didn't lose his spot due to poor performance, he has actually been very good so far this season, but Leno has looked even better and looks much more comfortable playing out from the back as is Emery's want. This will be a fascinating choice by the manager once both goalkeepers are healthy.

Sokratis is one of a very few potential missing players for Arsenal on Monday against Leicester City as the Greece international faces a race against the clock in his recovery from an ankle injury.

Reading between the lines of Unai Emery's press conference, it seems more likely than not that Sokratis will miss out. His exact words were "Only Sokratis had one problem, one small injury. Maybe for Monday it's difficult." That sure sounds like he's more "doubtful" than "probable". If you're in a position where you have to make a decision on his status it is best to assume that he won't be playing. Likewise, there is enough wiggle room in that statement that you probably don't want to count on Rob Holding either.

Nathan Chalobah played for England over the international break but a setback in training has him questionable ahead of the Hornets' Week 9 trip to the Molineux.

Chalobah arrived at Watford with some fanfare as a high potential Chelsea academy product who was touted as being very good but not quite good enough to go straight into the Chelsea first team. After loan after loan he made a permanent move to Watford in search of a regular job. No sooner did he get his move away from Stamford Bridge than he suffered a significant knee injury. Even at his best and playing regularly, he is unlikely to be a major fantasy contributor but his availability and talents may improve the value of other Watford players. His recovery is definitely worth watching closely.

Fulham have a pretty healthy squad heading into their weekend match with AFC Bournemouth, with only Tom Cairney and Joe Bryan ruled out as they continue to recover from their respective injuries.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who had been out with a dislocated shoulder, is expected to be available for selection against the Cherries, though Slavisa Jokanovic has yet to find any combination of defenders to be effective. After being a central figure in last season's promotion from the Championship, Cairney has been out of action after starting the first three weeks, save for a substitute appearance in Week 7. He and Bryan will aim for a Week 10 return, but neither are oozing much fantasy relevance at the moment.

With Stephen Ward having undergone surgery to repair his damaged knee, Charlie Taylor looks to have an extended chance to impress, but has yet to do so in fantasy terms.

The left back role has been Taylor's exclusively since Week 4, and now that we know Ward is going to be out for quite some time, one has to consider Taylor as a cheap route to the Burnley defense. Burnley have only kept one clean sheet since the opening weekend though, and that was the only game where Taylor scored above two points in the traditional FPL format. There seems to be little to get excited about in terms of attacking returns either. Taylor logged nearly 1,000 minutes last season and between then and now has yet to register an assist. With Johann Berg Gudmundsson on the left flank, all the chances are coming from the foot of the Icelandic international. Still, if you have a draft league that needs a starting defender, Taylor could provide a bit of help.
Oct 19 - 3:54 AM

Christian Eriksen is definitely back in the squad this weekend when Spurs travel to West Ham, but Mauricio Pochettino is not sure whether the Danish playmaker will go straight back into the XI or only make the bench.

There has been plenty of intrigue around Eriksen's stomach muscle injury, which has been referred to as a "chronic" situation by the manager of Denmark, much to the consternation of the club and fantasy owners. One has to wonder how much it will play into his production going forward, as he has already been off to a slow start by his standards before the injury came to light. Draft owners will simply have to hope for the best and should be monitoring the events against West Ham closely.
