Jack Wilshere ended weeks of speculation over his next club by officially putting pen to paper and signing a contract with West Ham United on a reported 3-year contract.

After flirting with a move abroad - clubs in Spain, Italy, and Turkey were all mentioned - Jack Wilshere has decided to stay in England and London signing with West Ham United. The Hammers have been aggressive remaking their squad this summer and Wilshere could be the center piece if he can win his ever-present battle with soft-tissue injuries. With attacking talent ahead of him in Chicharito and Marko Arnautovic and defensive reinforcements across the back line, the Hammers could be a very interesting team to watch this season.

Charlie Austin made it five in five for Southampton against Arsenal as his 85th minute goal won it for the Saints.

It was coming all afternoon as the Gunners' lack of center backs left the middle open. First Danny Ings scored a brace of headers from good-but-not-great crossed and then it was Austin who beat Bernd Leno to Shane Long's cross for the winner. The win will give the Saints confidence under new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

With a goal and an assist in the first half, Eden Hazard powered Chelsea to a 2-1 victory away to Brighton.

The Blues got rolling early with Pedro finding the back of the net in the 17th minute. Moving through the Brighton backline with ease, Eden Hazard teed up the Spaniard for the opener. Not long after, it was Willian assisting Hazard to double the league. The tally’s brought Hazard to his eighth goal and ninth assist on the season as he continues to pace the league in combined scoring. Heading into the half with a 2-0 lead, it looked like Chelsea was going to roll with ease but Brighton had other ideas. Solly March continued his hot form torturing Marcos Alonso for a goal in the 66th minute. Also picking up a yellow card late, it was a trying day for Alonso owners as his attacking returns are drying up making him an albatross at his current 7.0 m price tag. Is this the beginning of a fall in his ownership?

Henrikh Mkhitaryan doubled his season tally of goals but it wasn't enough as Southampton put three past Bernd Leno and won 3-2 on the south coast.

Mkhitaryan has experienced a frustrating campaign from a production standpoint but it has been mitigated by four months of results. Now, Mkhitaryan has returned to the scoresheet in style with two goals but Arsenal couldn't hold on for a result. With Laurent Koscielny only recently returned to action and Arsenal's three other senior center backs unavailable due to suspension and/or injury the Gunners couldn't defend down the middle and fell victim to three headed goals, two from Danny Ings and one from notorious Gunner-killer Charlie Austin who netted the winner.

They got ahead quickly then held on but the Hammers took advantage of Fulham's bad form winning 2-0.

Robert Snodgrass put West Ham in the lead 17 minutes in by jumping on a ball that fell to him. It was Snodgrass’ second match in a row with a goal as he is finding form along with the Hammers. Not long after, Michail Antonio split Sergio Rico’s head for the second goal of the game. Fulham had chances in the first half but none were bigger Aboubakar Kamara who was denied on the line by Lukasz Fabianski. In the second half, Fulham created chances but West Ham did something that they haven’t done often this season, clamp down defensively, to keep them at bay. The victory saw West Ham rise to ninth in the table as they look to close in on a European spot in the table.

Let down by their defense again, Fulham lost 2-0 at home to West Ham United.

Claudio Ranieri coming to Craven Cottage was supposed to lift the squad for Fulham but now they’re winless in four and still have yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this season. Fulham looked bright at the beginning of the match but when Aboubakar Kamara was denied by Lukasz Fabianski, it seemed to wake the West Ham attack as they ripped off two goals in the span of 12 minutes seeing Robert Snodgrass and Michail Antonio find the scoresheet. Fulham created chances in the second half but it was clear that West Ham wasn’t going to be beaten on the day. The loss sees Fulham stay rooted to the bottom of the table but they’ll have to get things going sooner rather than later with their next five games coming against Newcastle, Wolves, Huddersfield, Arsenal, and Burnley. It’s a period that could very well decide Fulham’s fate.

It was by no means pretty, but Tottenham keep chugging along, adding another three points with a nervy 1-0 win over Burnley.

Maurico Pochettino once again shook things up, giving the likes of Eriksen and Heung-min Son a place on the bench while playing Ben Davies at center back and handing a first ever PL start to 18-year-old Oliver Skipp. Spurs were in complete control from start to finish in terms of possession, but they had failed to create many chances from their time on the ball. Erik Lamela played a role in both close calls in the first half, sending a nice ball over the top to Lucas but the Brazilian could not finish and then testing the goalkeeper himself but was denied. Eriksen would eventually come on for the game's third act and a minute into stoppage time, found the net after Harry Kane held the ball the up and picked the Dane out.

Burnley were clear underdogs in their matchup with Tottenham but came within seconds of a road clean sheet and a draw only to have Spurs find a winner at the death to send the Clarets home empty, 1-0.

It had the makings of a result we became accustomed to from the Clarets last season, where they spent the bulk of the day defending while hoping to find something at the other end. While it worked for them against Brighton last weekend, the levee finally broke in second half stoppage time. Over 90 minutes, it was a consistent story - Tottenham controlled the ball almost the entire time but Burnley would pour everyone into the box, offering little space for Spurs to create a finish. The Clarets came close just after the start of the second half, when ex-Lilywhite Aaron Lennon sent in a cross that Ashley Barnes nearly volleyed home. Sam Vokes and Chris Wood would come off the bench for the final act of the match, but offered little threat.

Gerard Deulofeu scored a goal and assisted on another as Watford stormed out to a 3-0 lead over Cardiff City and held on as the Bluebirds pulled two back late.

Deulofeu replaced Isaac Success in Javi Gracia's starting line-up and it looked like a stroke of genius early as the former Barcelona man scored on 16 minutes. He helped his side double their lead just after halftime feeding Jose Holebas who put his side up 2-0. Domingos Quina added a third that turned out to be critical as Junior Hoilett and Bobby Reid scored within two minutes of each other in the late going to give the hosts a scare.

Newcastle United continued their recent good run of results in the PL with a 1-0 win away to Huddersfield Town.

Huddersfield will be very disappointed to come away from the encounter with nothing as they dominated proceedings, managing 74% possession. However, they couldn't make it count as both Chris Lowe and Philip Billing left good chances go a begging. David Wagner's side have now suffered four defeats on the bounce and remain in the relegation zone. Newcastle have now pulled six points clear of 18th place and continue to make Rafa Benitez look like a miracle-worker. Salomon Rondon's fourth PL goal for the club was enough to earn victory. His second-half strike from close range came after good work by Javier Manquillo and Ayoze Perez.

The battle between two of the "best of the rest" teams outside the Top Six ended in a convincing 2-0 win for Wolves at Molineux.

The home side took an early lead through Raul Jiménez after Diego Jota took advantage of an error by Charlie Daniels and had his shot turned in by the striker. Although Bournemouth were dominating proceedings before and after that goal, neither side mustered another good opportunity in the first half. Jota was forced off with an injury at the break, just as he was starting to show his talents consistently to the PL. His replacement Helder Costa was denied well by Begovic. The Cherries failed to penetrate the Wolves defence from open-play, though a Stanislas free hit the post, and eventually they were caught on the break in stoppage time by Ivan Cavaleiro. Bournemouth are now in tenth, with Wolves just a point behind Manchester United.

Dec 15 - 12:20 PM

At least for the day, Manchester City will be back atop the Premier League table after a 3-1 win over Everton.

It was Gabriel Jesus who stole the show with two goals on either side of half-time, breaking his dubious goalless streak with the opener in the 22nd minute when he coolly finished from a difficult angle for his first Premier League goal since August. Leroy Sane drew up quite a connection with the Brazilian forward by assisting on both goals, including a brilliant chipped pass in the 50th minute that led to a powerful header from Gabriel Jesus. After Everton brought one back in the 65th, Raheem Sterling came off the bench for Sane and recorded only his second-career headed goal in the Premier League just minutes later for a 69th-minute winner. And there's more good news for City as Kevin De Bruyne returned from injury to feature as a second-half sub while Sergio Aguero also made the bench.
