Spurs defender Vlad Chiriches broke his nose this weekend in a collision with Newcastle's Yoan Gouffran. He was substituted in that match and will now miss Romania's matches over the international break.

If Chririches can't return for Spurs against Manchester City, they'll hope that Danny Rose is fit to play and that Jan Vertonghen can resume playing in the center of defence.

Martin Demichelis tallied the first goal of the season for Manchester City's defensive unit against Arsenal this past weekend.

The defending champions have struggled with clean sheets in 2014. They started the year off with a 2-0 win at Newcastle, but since then have failed to record a shutout in their last three matches. With a tough home game vs Chelsea coming up in Week 5, and three of their next four versus Top 6 opponents (currently), a shutout at Hull in Week 6 looks like the best case scenario for a team that hasn't looked all that bad defensively.

John Stones was handed a start as Sylvain Distin was kept out with a leg injury and Everton kept their first clean sheet in the process in the 0-2 win at West Brom.

Is it a coincidence that in Everton's first match where Stones partnered Phil Jagielka instead of Distin that the Toffees managed their first clean sheet? After a strong showing last season, Roberto Martinez may be on the verge of granting Stones regular starts going forward. He currently provides the cheapest route to Everton's defense and his energy level is something Martinez cannot ignore. With Crystal Palace paying a visit to Goodison Park next, Stones could make for a good play as soon as this weekend.

Nacho Monreal became the latest Arsenal defender to be sidelined after the player suffered a minor back injury during Saturday’s home draw with Manchester City. The Spanish full-back did not travel with the rest of the squad to Germany where the Gunner’s face Borussia Dortmond in their opening Champions League game on Tuesday.

Monreal joins an ever growing list of Arsenal casualties which includes the unfortunate Mathieu Debuchy (ankle) - who is set to miss around three months - Yaya Sanogo (hamstring) as well as long-term absentees Theo Walcott, Oliver Giroud and Serge Gnabry. Calum Chambers will also face a late fitness test following a bout of tonsillitis while Laurent Koscielny is battling an ongoing Achilles issue. After the summer departure of Thomas Vermaelen Arsenal are a little short of cover in defence with Kieron Gibbs, Per Mertesacker and youngster Hector Bellerin being the only fully fit first team options available.

Queens Park Rangers will be hoping the head injury suffered by Eduardo Vargas on Monday is not too serious and the Chilean will be fine for Saturday’s early kick-off against Stoke City at Loftus Road.

It took Vargas just 69 seconds to open his Rangers account last night as the Under-21 development side won against Millwall in a game which was meant to ensure the attacker was back up to speed following his late arrival post-World Cup. Having made his first team bow at Old Trafford a mere 27 hours prior Vargas looked bright and full of invention - his obvious talent could be the catalyst to kick start Harry Redknapps’ season - but moments before half-time the Napoli loanee was forced off after a clash of heads with reserve coach Steve Gallen confirming post-match "He's had a few stitches but fingers crossed he should be involved on Saturday."

Jonjo Shelvey was the latest productive midfielder for Swansea City, scoring an away goal iin the Swans' 4-2 loss to Chelsea and contributing to several fantasy categories.

The first three weeks in which Swansea secured the maximum nine points was due almost exclusively to the play of Nathan Dyer and Gylfi Sigurdsson but while that duo had a quiet day at Stamford Bridge, Shelvey opened his account on the season and chipped in with a handful of tackles won and passes intercepted. Sigurdsson is remains the preferred option in fantasy, and is still cheaper than Shelvey in the Yahoo game but expect the occasional haul from the Englishman.

Making his second straight start, defender Massadio Haidara salvaged a decent fantasy score despite Newcastle United being otherwise manhandled by Southampton in a 4-0 loss.

Haidara has been on the fringe of the Magpie XI the past couple of seasons and has been a bench-filling budget option with minimal fantasy appeal. After Paul Dummett looked to have secured the left back role when the season began, Haidara looks to have established a run in the starting lineup, providing the only bright spot in fantasy terms against the Saints. He managed a shot on target and a pair of successful crosses, promising attacking returns for a defender that can be had quite cheap.

After a humdrum opening half hour, Abel Hernandez made a splash in his debut scoring the opening goal for Hull City, but the Tigers would squander two leads and ended up settling for a 2-2 draw with West Ham United.

Steve Bruce handed Hernandez an immediate start and the debutant rewarded the manager in the 39th minute when he headed home a cross from Ahmed Elmohamady. Shortly thereafter, Hernandez nearly bagged a brace when he rattled an effort off the bar. From that point on, the match opened up and became an entertaining exchange between the sides. After West Ham equalized, their former asset from just a couple of weeks ago, Mohamed Diame, would put the Tigers ahead again. Unfortunately for them, a Diafra Sakho shot squirted past the keeper and off Curtis Davies for an own goal that would settle the eventual draw. Pablo Hernandez and Hatem Ben Arfa were both given their debuts in the second half off the bench, but Abel looks an intriguing fantasy option after showing a consistent, quality display of attacking.

Enner Valencia scored his first Premier League goal with a stunning strike from deep range and the Hammers erased two deficits to grab a point on the road in a 2-2 draw with Hull City.

After impressing on a global stage in this summer's World Cup, Valencia showed today just how dangerous and special he is. Down 1-0 in the 50th minute, he took a nonchalant pass from Stewart Downing, dribbled methodically to his right, then fired a 25 yard cannon into the top corner which could not have been struck any harder. An own goal by Hull's Curtis Davies would give the Hammers it's second equalizer as the two sides played to an exciting draw. It's pretty clear the path to scoring for West Ham right now is the link between Downing and Valencia. Both are viable fantasy options in plus matchups right now.

Alexis Sanchez continued his strong start to his Arsenal career with his third goal in his last four matches across all competitions for Arsenal.

The Chilean attacker has been exactly what Arsene Wenger hoped he would be. He has brought pace, technique, tenacity, and goals to Arsenal's cause already in this young season. His spectacular volley for Arsenal's second goal was the biggest highlight of his Week 4 performance but his tracking back also saw him will a couple of tackles while also winning four fouls and getting a couple of shots on target. A strong all-around performance in fantasy and reality against top competition.
Sep 15 - 3:20 PM

Aaron Ramsey continued to delivery great all-around performances for Arsenal with 16 point performance in the Yahoo format in Week 4.

It isn't hard for a midfielder to get an assist and still not come close to breaking double digit fantasy points in the Yahoo format. Ramsey didn't just get to double digits, he used a strong all-around performance with three passes intercepted and four tackles won in addition to a shot on target and an assist. There aren't many players who are going to get you two-way fantasy production these days.
Sep 15 - 3:24 PM

Victor Moses gave one of the all-time performances for a fantasy player whose team neither scored a goal nor kept a clean sheet in Week 4.

Victor Moses was a fantasy stud on a day when Stoke City were shut out by visiting Leicester City. The Chelsea loanee was rampant from the wing with coming up with nine (9!) successful crosses, four corners won, five fouls won, three tackles won, and a pass intercepted. He scored 22 points in the Yahoo format without registering so much as a shot on target. Just a great effort at doing the little things that add up in fantasy on a day when there were no big chunks of points to be had.
