Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Fabian Delph will not travel with the squad to the Stadium of Light tomorrow after picking up a groin injury in training.

The Manchester City midfielder only ever had an outside chance of making the European Championships, but this latest setback means Delph will not be considered for the 23-man squad when the final list is submitted on May 31. However, the door hasn’t been completely slammed shut on the injury plagued 26-year-old who will remain on the standby list as his injury is not thought to be long-term: "If I needed him and wanted him to come with us, it's easy for me to call him and ask him to do so," revealed the Three Lions manager speaking ahead of the friendly against Australia. Hodgson also confirmed that Daniel Sturridge has not trained with the group, although the specifics of his problem remain unknown - Marcus Rashford "is going to play a serious part in the game."

Bundesliga side Hoffenheim have turned forward Andrej Kramaric's loan from Leicester City into a permanent move.

Leicester City confirmed the move on Wednesday with the 24-year-old leaving the club after one-and-a-half seasons with the Premier League champions. Kramaric joined from Croatian side Rijeka in January of 2015 in a £9.7million move, scoring four goals in 20 appearances in all competitions. One year after joining Leicester, the Croatian international was sent on loan to Hoffenheim, where he scored five goals in 15 appearances. Kramaric made four appearances in the first half of the season for Leicester, only two of which came in the Premier League.

Reports suggest that Daniel Sturridge has suffered an injury in the build up to Fridays’ friendly international at the Stadium of Light.

Sturridge was a notable absentee from training on Wednesday – along with Chelsea defender Gary Cahill – but confusion lies around the severity of problem with some sections of the media suggesting his calf injury could potentially rule him out of the upcoming European Championships. Meanwhile, Sky Sports report that while the Liverpool striker is being "assessed", he was rested as a "precaution" and is "expected" to be involved in tomorrows’ Euro warm-up game against Australia - although I’d suggest no risks will be taken ahead of the tournament in France. Jamie Vardy won’t be involved following his wedding earlier this week but Marcus Rashford has been passed fit - Harry Kane and captain Wayne Rooney could also be considered in attack.

James McCarthy is expected to miss Fridays’ friendly international against the Netherlands after failing to shake off the thigh injury he suffered on the final day of the season.

The 25-year-old midfielder was forced off during the second half of the 3-0 win over Norwich City and hasn't recovered sufficiently for his countries first European Championship warm-up match. There is no suggestion at this stage that McCarthy will not be ready for the tournament opener versus Sweden on June 13, although he will continue to receive treatment. Elsewhere, Shane Long is expected to face the Oranje despite limping out of yesterdays’ open training session after taking a whack to the knee. The Southampton forward has been in excellent form and will play a key role in Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland team.

Jürgen Klinsmann confirmed on Tuesday that Stoke defender Geoff Cameron will not be available to face Ecuador tonight.

Cameron suffered a hamstring strain during the win over West Ham on the final day and won’t be considered for the friendly match as the US Men’s National Team prepare for the Copa America which begins on June 4. Klinsmann’s side began there warm-up with a win over Puerto Rico on Sunday evening and will face Bolivia in their final match before the tournament opener against Colombia. The US team are fourth favourites to lift the Copa America trophy – behind Argentina / Brazil / Chile – and feature two other English based players. DeAndre Yedlin finished the season strongly with Sunderland while Brad Guzan was part of the Aston Villa squad which was relegated from the top flight. Tim Howard has ended his 10-year association with Everton and will join MLS side Colorado Rapids when his contract expires on the 1st June.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is closing in on a return to full fitness and the German captain is expected to be named in the 23-man Euro 2016 squad when it is announced later this month.

The 31-year-old has struggled in his first Premier League season because of injury and following another setback in March while training with the national team – Schweinsteiger has been limited to just 110 minutes of top flight football this calendar year. But, speaking to weekly sports magazine Sport Bild which is published in Germany, Joachim Loew has reported that the Manchester United midfielder is ready to return to full training after scans revealed his medial knee ligament strain has fully healed. Schweinsteiger played a key role in Germany’s World Cup triumph in Brazil two-years ago and Loew – who is a big admirer of the player he described as "an absolute leader and world-class" when rubber stamping his move to England – is keen to ensure his captain plays in France.

Chris Coleman is "optimistic" that Joe Ledley can recover from injury in time to play in the European Championships but admits: "It will be the biggest decision I am going to have to make."

The Crystal Palace midfielder fractured his fibula in a challenge with Charlie Adam earlier this month and is determined to prove his fitness before Coleman names his final 23-man squad on May 31. Ledley travelled with the Wales team to Portugal but will train away from the main group as he undertakes his own personalised rehabilitation programme. The 29-year-old is expected to miss tournament opener against Slovakia but hopes to face England on June 16, just 40-days after he was forced off at Selhurst Park. "It’s not going to be easy, but I spoke with him a few days ago and he was in a good mood. He is walking around unaided and that’s a good sign," said the Welsh manager.

The speculation is that Romelu Lukaku has unfinished business at Chelsea and will push for a move from Goodison Park to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Mysterious "sources close to the player" have indicated to ESPN FC that Lukaku favors a move to Chelsea despite interest from a number of clubs that will be playing in the Champions League and Europa League next season. Manchester United have been linked in the Premier League as well as other high-profile clubs around Europe. The arrival of Lukaku would present an interesting situation for Antonio Conte as Lukaku's fee would surely mean he'd be hard to keep on the bench in favor of the current number one. Hard to see Costa as a happy camper playing anything other than a full-time starter's role.

Southampton are rumored to be willing to let Graziano Pelle's contract run out at the end of next season with Simone Zaza the rumored replacement.

Southampton's relationship with Pelle has been odd. He was effective in his debut season on the south coast. He was hardly spectacular with 12 goals in 37 league matches but that's hardly a bust either. His second season was more effective on a per-match basis as the Italian scored 11 and assisted on 6 more in 23 starts and 7 substitute appearances. At 30 years old, he should be in his prime as a target forward but Zaza is only 24 and perhaps the Saints are wary of being on the hook for a fading force when a younger one is available.

Manchester United are rumored to be interested in bringing Michael Carrick back for another year at Old Trafford.

Perhaps for the same reason that John Terry was offered an additional year at Chelsea to help transition from old manager to new manager, Michael Carrick is apparently being considered for the same treatment at United. We know Jose Mourinho loves veteran players and Carrick seems like the sort of intelligent, always-in-the-right-place sort of player who could play at least some part in a Mourinho side. Whether the playing time and money offered is sufficient to interest Carrick remains to be seen but this rumor makes some sense given what we know about the characters involved.

The rumor mill has turned out a doozy today with the news that Joe Hart could be headed to Everton to fill the Tim Howard-sized hole in net at Goodison Park.

The build-up to this conclusion has elements that make at least some sense. Pep Guardiola has been rumored to want to bring in former Barcelona pupil Marc-Andre ter Stegen as he ascends to the top job at the Etihad. At Everton, Tim Howard has departed leaving only an adequate reserve in Joel Robles for the spot. The Goodison Park outfit also have a new owner with lots of money which will always lead to crazy transfer rumors. Perhaps the stumbling block here will be City's need to keep their English players to make up the home grown numbers required by UEFA and the FA. Seems hard to believe that this one would happen but at least it's something to break up the monotony of Zlatan-to-United rumors.
