After going goalless in their previous three matches, Cardiff City finally found their scoring touch again thanks to a goal from Peter Whittingham in the 66th minute and the Bluebirds held on to defeat West Brom 1-0.

It had been 335 minutes since Cardiff scored last month in their draw with Manchester United, but during their drought Whittingham was showing signs of form and it culminated with a breakthrough game-winning goal today, his second of the season. It would be difficult to recommend any Bluebirds for their trip to Anfield next weekend but they will have 3 home games in 4 thereafter and could present some options during that stretch.

Victor Wanyama scored his first goal for Southampton to give the Saints an impressive three points away from home.

The assist came from Graziano Pelle, the striker who has been in hot form for the past few matches. Southampton and Swansea were matched well in the first half but after Wilfried Bony was sent off in the 39th minute, Saints took more and more control of the match and eventually got the winner they were looking for. Some soccer analytics guys now have Southampton at anywhere from 20-40% chance of finishing in the top four and that speaks a lot about the quality this team has brought this season.

Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck each had a goal and an assist in Arsenal's 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Ozil scored the first goal of the game off a great through ball from Danny Welbeck in the 33rd minute. Less than two minutes later Ozil returned the favor, assisting on Welbeck's first goal for the Gunners since joining the team earlier this month. An own goal in the 36th minute sealed the deal as Arsenal allowed Villa just 37 percent possession and two shots on goal. The Gunners will face Tottenham at home next weekend and Villa will play on the road at Chelsea.

Papiss Cisse scored a late brace to earn Newcastle a much needed point during tough times.

The fans have been calling for Alan Pardew's job in recent weeks and a loss here would probably have been enough to see the manager fired. Hull City earned a 2-0 lead in the match and it all seemed like it was over before Papiss Cisse scored a brace to earn the draw. With the way Newcastle have been playing, especially on defense, it's hard to see them turning this around and it's even harder to imagine Alan Pardew keeping his job for too long.

Queens Park Rangers trailed twice but managed to respond with goals to stay level with Stoke City, the final equalizer scored by way of a superb free kick from Niko Kranjcar as the two sides played to a 2-2 draw.

Rangers looked their typical disorganized selves but managed to keep pace with the Potters thanks to some key set piece conversions. The first came when Steven Caulker headed home a Jordon Mutch corner, though it could be argued that Stoke were responsible for an own goal. The second came with just a few moments remaining as Kranjcar skillfully curled a free kick over the Stoke wall and into the top corner. Expect to see plenty of Kranjcar in Redknapp's XI for the near future, not only has he been on of the few bright spots for Rangers in the early going, but injuries in this game to Mutch and Joey Barton may leave Redknapp with few options in midfield.

A back injury that kept Newcastle's newest forward, Facundo Ferreyra, out of the Magpies loss to Southampton last weekend will continue to keep him sidelined this weekend against Hull City.

There hasn't been much detail of Ferreyra's injury over the past week, but there are no reports saying he has returned to fitness. He is not a fantasy option until he can establish a regular spot in the XI, and still would be hard to consider if Newcastle continue their sinking ship.

He certainly ins't the biggest name out there but it wasn't long ago that Mulumbu had a huge phantom point week for the Baggies.

Having recovered from his hamstring issue that kept him out for West Brom's Week 4 capitulation to Everton Youssouf Mulumbu is available again. "Available" doesn't exactly fill you with confidence that he'll be ready to go and a trip to White Hart Lane doesn't scream "pick me" either. If you are in an auction/draft format then you might be very happy to see the Baggies' midfielder enforcer returning to the line-up.

Matt Taylor will not be available for Burnley this weekend as they get set to host Sunderland due to an Achilles issue.

Sean Dyche has bigger worries up top after losing Danny Ings to injury in last weekend's draw with Crystal Palace, but Taylor was brought in over the summer to add some top flight experience to the promoted side. The Clarets luckily have a natural option to replace Taylor as deadline day signing George Boyd can step into the wide left midfield role.

Ron Vlaar is a major doubt for Aston Villa's match against Arsenal this weekend.

Vlaar is struggling with a calf injury and likely won't be available when his team faces Arsenal. That's a big blow for Villa as they are a significantly better side with Vlaar involved. When healthy, he provides a level of experience and skill that's among the most consistent in the Premier League. We recommend him for fantasy in plus matchups, but of course he is not to be considered this week due to the injury.

In what was an interesting move by Jose Mourinho, Didier Drogba started Chelsea's 1-1 against Shalke in the Champions League.

The good news here is that Diego Costa came off the bench and all facts point to him starting against Manchester City this weekend. It's clear Jose Mourinho wants to win both the Premier League and Champions League and Costa being fresh for Manchester City is a great way to help your team. Diego Costa has the toughest matchup possible but he still remains a lethal choice for fantasy owners. Must start every week.

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has returned to training after a long absence due to an ACL tear last season.

This is a huge boost for Villa and they can certainly use a striker at the moment. Paul Lambert confirmed that Benteke has practiced and if there are no complications, he will continue practicing. The Belgian striker will not be an immediate option as he returns from injury but should be picked up in most year-long fantasy leagues. He is unusable in daily leagues until he plays at least 60 minutes in a match.

Shane Long has earned himself the starting job at Southampton in favor of James Ward-Prowse.

Long plays on the right side of Graziano Pelle and has performed respectably in recent weeks, almost scoring last time out against Newcastle. On the left of Pelle is Dusan Tadic, who has also played well and is unlikely to lose his spot. Long is not the greatest of options against Swansea this week but can certainly be used when Southampton face easier opposition.
