Norwich City were able to earn a point after falling behind early thanks to a goal from Gary Hooper as the Canaries drew with Swansea City 1-1.

Just as Ricky van Wolfswinkel works his way back to match fitness, Gary Hooper is making a statement that he should be the first choice striker for Chris Hughton's side. His strike today makes four goals in the last 6 league games and he is edging his way into the conversation as a 3rd forward in fantasy. The goal was from distance and extremely accurate, a 25 yards volley that scorched the top left corner of the net. With three of the next four contests against the bottom three clubs in the table, Hooper has a great opportunity to keep his form up.

Manchester United have agreed to sign Colombia striker Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco.

This is a massive move by Manchester United, with Falcao regarded as one of the top strikers in world football, having cost Monaco £50million in 2013. The Colombian's arrival is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms, but the majority of media outlets are reporting these issues as mere formalities. The completion of a deal for Falcao (for a £6million loan fee) is likely to see Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck leave Old Trafford before the end of the day. A striker had not seemed to be a priority position for United to fill, and there will be questions raised regarding Louis van Gaal's ability to fit Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Falcao, Juan Mata and £60million record signing Angel Di Maria in to a balanced starting XI.

Sunderland AFC has confirmed that defender Modibo Diakite has left the club by mutual consent.

Diakite was one of the many signings from Paolo Di Canio's ill-fated reign in 2013, but the defender never got close to securing a spot in the Sunderland first team. He was sent on loan to Serie A side Fiorentina for much of last season and was never in Gus Poyet's plans for the current campaign, so the player has been released from his contract.

Despite the striker’s worrying departure on a stretcher at The Etihad on Saturday Mark Hughes confirmed post-match that the injury suffered by Peter Odemwingie was "nothing sinister." However after a weekend of further testing fears are beginning to mount that the Nigerian striker could be ruled out for the remainder of the campaign with suspected cruciate ligament damage.

Peter Odemwingie had just returned to the Stoke first team squad following his late arrival post-World Cup and was introduced as a second half substitute in Manchester but collapsed to the turf after 20 minutes as he stood away from the play. If confirmed, the injury could sideline the Stoke player for around 9 months with Mark Hughes potentially making a late move in the transfer market on deadline day as the Potters look for additional attacking cover.

Arsenal draw at the King Power Stadium on Sunday but Arsene Wenger confirms the Gunners picked up another three injuries during the match against Leicester City.

Worried fans looked on aghast as Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny suffered a sickening clash of heads leaving the Frenchman bloodied before departing to have staples inserted to close an open wound. Koscielny was able to continue for a short time while Wenger insisted his injury was a major contributory factor as the Foxes equalised just two minutes after Alexis Sanchez had opened the scoring. Calum Chambers was introduced at the request of the player who did not feel comfortable heading the ball although it was confirmed later the he was not concussed; the French Football Federation advised on Monday that the defender has withdrawn from the national squad ahead of friendlies against Spain and Serbia. Mesut Ozil (ankle) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (calf) will both be assessed but neither injury is thought to be serious.

Karim El Ahmadi has agreed a three-year deal to return to Feyenoord for an undisclosed fee.

El Ahmadi played 26 Premier League games for Aston Villa last season but was deemed surplus to requirements for the season ahead, so manager Paul Lambert has allowed the midfielder to rejoin his old club Feyenoord.

Blackburn Rovers have signed Republic of Ireland international defender Shane Duffy from Premier League Everton for an undisclosed fee.

Duffy was tipped for big things at Everton, but he has never been able to break in to the first team and spent all of last season on loan at Yeovil. The emergence last season of John Stones means Roberto Martinez has now allowed Duffy to move to Blackburn on a permanent deal, with the defender signing a three year contract at Ewood Park.

Javier Hernandez has traded the bench at Manchester United for a similar spot at Real Madrid behind their attacking stars.

A one-year loan with an option for Real to buy has been completed as Manchester United make room for Falcao. The move is an odd one for the Mexican international who, you'd think, would want to get more playing time in the prime of his career. Instead he'll sit behind Karim Benzema as one of two pure forwards but will also have to contend with Bale, Rodriguez and Ronaldo who all effectively play in forward roles.

Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe may be heading back to the Premier League after just five months playing for Toronto FC in the MLS.

This news has coincided with manager Ryan Nelsen leaving Toronto FC following the club's 3-0 defeat over the weekend. Toronto general manager Tim Bezbatchenko confirmed that the club have received an offer for Defoe, and Sky Sports are reporting this offer has come from Harry Redknapp's QPR. With the transfer deadline just hours away both clubs will need to get a move on if they are to get a deal completed.

Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has completed a year-long loan to Italian club AC Milan.

van Ginkel was behind on the pecking order at Chelsea and wouldn't have seen much playing time this year behind Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas, Ramires, and John Obi Mikel. The 22-year-old should get a good run at AC Milan and earn some very important first team experience while he is there. van Ginkel is a very highly rated prospect by Chelsea and should be a major part of their team going forward, just not this year.

Shinji Kagawa's frustrating time at Old Trafford has come to an end as he has been officially announced as a Borussia Dortmund player once again.

The star of consecutive Bundesliga titles before coming to England, Japan international Kagawa will be excited to return to a place where he is far more likely to see the pitch. The arrivals of Juan Mata and Angel di Maria have further limited the chances of Kagawa seeing significant playing time. The massive transfer fees paid out this summer and corresponding high salaries means that Kagawa is a luxury they can no longer afford.
