Liverpool executives visit with Luis Suarez' advisor to make the Uruguayan striker the highest paid player in club history.

Suarez still has two-and-a-half years left on his current deal, but Liverpool don't want Real Madrid anywhere near him. They want to reward the current Premier League leader in goals with an incentivized deal upwards of £200,000-a-week. Suarez notched two goals and two assists in his most recent outing against Tottenham and feels like the club is doing what they need to do to remain a title contender. "The last four years we have been near the top four and this year it’s hopefully going to be better. If Liverpool don’t have the players it is difficult and I don’t continue at my level. But now they do and they help me. They know I’m important in the squad but they know they have to stay together. I am delighted that I, and my club, are finishing the year so strongly."

Matteo Darmian will be missing for "several weeks" after Louis van Gaal confirmed the full-back had dislocated his shoulder following a first half collision with Sunderland midfielder Wahbi Khazri.

Darmian only returned to the United line-up at the beginning of February after recovering from a rib problem but his season now hangs in the balance following another injury. This latest setback leaves United with up-to seven defenders missing - Guillermo Varela, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia - and the Reds may have to rely on youth for Thursdays' tricky Europa League tie against FC Midtjylland in Denmark. Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (19) is already covering in a patched up back four while Donald Love (21) made his Premier League bow in todays’ defeat on Wearside.

Wahbi Khazri is enjoying life with his new club as he directly attributed to both of Sunderland's goals to lift them to a 2-1 win over Manchester United.

Khazri was influential early and often. He would score the opener in the third minute, sending a free kick bouncing through a wall of opponents and finding the far corner. Manchester United would equalize in the 39th minute and by halftime, the Red Devils were dominating possession and looked the likelier side to find a winner. The second half was a different story though, as the Black Cats were threatening much more often. In the 82nd minute, Khazri lifted a corner kick into the box and was headed into the goal mouth by Lamine Kone. It would go down as a David de Gea own goal however, as the ball went in off of the keeper when Anthony Martial attempted to clear. It is a massive victory for Sunderland, who are now level with Norwich on points. Khazri looks a very attractive fantasy option as he has settled in quickly

Anthony Martial scored his seventh goal in league play this season but also played a hand in an own goal that would see Manchester United lose to Sunderland, 2-1, at the Stadium of Light.

United took a major blow to their chances of finishing in the top four with their loss today. They conceded early, but fought their way back into the match, enjoying the lion's share of possession until the halftime whistle. Their equalizer came courtesy of Martial, who dribbled into the area and sent a low pass to Juan Mata. Mata fired a shot on target, but the ball squirted loose and Martial was there to bang it home. They could not keep up the momentum in the second half however, and were hurt by the loss of Matteo Darmian, who dislocated his shoulder just before the Martial score. David de Gea made a couple of big saves but was the goat in the end as the Sunderland winner was credited as an own goal to the Red Devil keeper.

Week 26 will come too soon for Ryan Shawcross in his recovery from a significant back injury but he should be available for Week 27 in two weeks time.

Shawcross is close to a return but he won't quite be ready in time to feature for Mark Hughes as the Potters travel to Bournemouth for Week 26. The Potters have been slumping badly at both ends of the pitch having given up nine goals and scored none in their past three Premier League matches corresponding with Shawcross' absence. The Cherries should be favored in this one with Benik Afobe and Junior Stanislas both tipped for significant production.

Jon Walters was a late scratch with a virus last weekend but he should be available again for Week 26.

Mark Hughes will have to decide who he wants to start against the Cherries as he looks to break a four match goalless streak in the Premier League. The Potters last scored on January 13 in their 3-1 win against Norwich. Since then it has been nothing but goalless performances against Arsenal, Leicester City, Manchester United and Everton in the league and against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup. Bojan has been benched twice in that span but after the Barcelona product signed a new contract this week, he seems likely to get the start over Walters.

Gareth McAuley is definitely out for Week 26 with a hamstring injury and Jonny Evans, Craig Dawson and Chris Brunt are all doubtful as well.

That's pretty much Tony Pulis' entire starting defense that's unlikely to feature this weekend against high scoring Everton at Goodison Park. If you're looking for a team that's likely to have goals then the Toffees are probably as good a bet as you can find with West Brom struggling even when healthy and now injured on top of that. This one could get ugly so probably not the week to feature Ben Foster or anyone from the Albion defense.

Troy Deeney was given a rest last weekend over concerns about his fitness but he should be ready for a quick return to the starting eleven at Selhurst Park.

The pairing of Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo has carried the Watford attack all season. Ighalo has been the headliner tied for 4th in the Premier League with 14 goals on the season. Deeney hasn't been nearly as flashy or garnered nearly as many headlines but his hard work leading the line, knocking down long balls and setting up his high scoring teammate has been just as important. Deeney has scored six of his own goals and assisted on eight more. Looking deeper, he is tied for second among forwards with 37 chances created, one behind leader Romelu Lukaku. This is a long way of saying that his return to the Hornets starting line-up is important.

While there weren't many details, Louis Van Gaal said that there was a "light at the end of the tunnel" for long term absentees Antonio Valencia and Marcos Rojo.

As soon as it looks like Antonio Valencia might be back for the Red Devils, Matteo Darmian has been playing some of his best football of the year. He was one of United's best players last weekend against Chelsea. The return of Valencia will, at a minimum, create much-needed depth. Valencia's return to the starting line-up, which looked like a certainty as recently as a few weeks ago, is looking less likely with every successive strong outing from Darmian.

Phil Jones suffered a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury during Manchester United's 7-0 U21 league victory of Norwich on Monday.

The Red Devils remain perilously thin at the back and were counting on the return of Phil Jones to boost depth even if he wasn't likely to dislodge either Chris Smalling or Daley Blind in the starting eleven. Jones, who hasn't played much at all this season and only once in 2016, shouldn't be out too much longer according to Louis Van Gaal's assessment but the trend for Jones is certainly a worrying one with only 10 Premier League matches to his credit this season and only six starts.

Jack Colback has been training all week according to Steve McClaren and is available for selection when Newcastle United travel this weekend to take on Chelsea.

McClaren announced that Emmanuel Riviere is available as well, but the French striker is far behind the pecking order at Newcastle with Aleksandar Mitrovic, Seydou Doumbia and Ayoze Perez all ahead of him, though Perez can play elsewhere. The boost comes from Colback's return. While normally deployed in central defensive midfield, he may line up at left back, where he has experience. Rolando Aarons was the latest emergency fill-in at the position and to be fair the Magpies kept a clean sheet in the process. But that was West Brom without a true striker and this is Chelsea up next, so expect Colback to find himself in the back four this weekend.

Max Gradel has returned to the club and is beginning the early stages of training as he looks to regain his fitness after a lengthy layoff following knee surgery.

Gradel was the big summer signing for the Cherries in their promotional season and was highly influential straight away, notching three assists in the first four matches of the season. It was in the fourth match that his knee was damaged though and has been sidelined ever since. Bournemouth have done well to stay above the relegation zone after losing Gradel and Callum Wilson so early in the season and now with Benik Afobe leading the line, having Gradel back could really improve the attack enough to stave off the drop. It will be a while before we see him starting again, but once he has match fitness, it is likely that he will jump ahead of Junior Stanislas and Marc Pugh in the pecking order.
