Gary Hooper came off in the second half of the weekend's match against Manchester United with a suspected hamstring injury. However, the precaution worked and he's fine to face Crystal Palace.

Norwich City don't travel well, but will be boosted by Hooper's availability for the match. He's scored five in eight and will be key to keeping Norwich out of relegation danger. Crystal Palace can leag-frog the Canaries with a win on New Year's Day.

Manager Slaven Bilic has praised the arrival of Javier "Chicarito" Hernandez as a major signing for West Ham United.

Bilic has revealed that the signing of Chicharito, who completed his move to east London on Monday, was a move long in the works since his appoint as Hammers boss. Hernandez enjoyed four successful years at Manchester United, scoring 59 goals in 157 matches, before being sold to Bayern Leverkusen in 2015/16 after a season-long loan spell at Real Madrid. The Mexico international is a proven goalscorer capable of playing as a long striker or in a two forward system, which Bilic could be favored when frontman Andy Carroll is fit. Speaking to the club's website, Bilic was quick to list the qualities of his newest signing: "He [Hernandez] brings energy, makes movement up front and he brings running behind the defence, he brings pace, he brings quality and he brings goals and that’s it, basically!"

Burnley have moved to add some veteran depth in the form of Stoke City right back Phil Bardsley who signed on a permanent move for £2m.

With Glen Johnson getting more and more fragile with age, you have to expect that there is another move coming at the Britannia Stadium. Johnson certainly can't be counted on to play an entire season and Bardsley actually started 14 matches last season for Mark Hughes' side. Perhaps Hughes will employ a makeshift option behind Johnson in the event of injury this coming season but, if that isn't his plan then he'd better get shopping as the inbound defenders - Josh Tymon and Kurt Zouma - are a left back and a center back respectively with neither a) proven or b) a right back.

Brighton and Hove Albion have signed Chelsea midfielder Izzy Brown on loan for the coming 2017/18 season.

The 20 year old midfielder also signed a four year contract with Chelsea as he departed for the AMEX Stadium. The attack-minded midfielder spent last season on loan at fellow Premier League new-boys Huddersfield, for whom he was a consistent starter. The Terriers had been looking to re-sign the player though he has opted to move to the south coast club instead. He was deployed as a shadow striker last season in the Championship, making 35 appearances, getting on the score-sheet 7 times and notching up a further 5 assists. He has had loan spells with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem and Rotherham previously, having begun his career at West Brom. Manager Chris Hughton said: "The natural progression for Izzy, having enjoyed such a successful season in the Championship last season, was to step up to the Premier League - and we are delighted he will be doing that with us, here at Brighton."

Bournemouth right-back Adam Smith has signed a new contract with the club which will keep him at Dean Court until the end of the 2020/21 season.

Smith has been at the club on a permanent basis since 2014 when he was signed from Spurs. During his time at Spurs, one of the seven clubs he represented while on loan was the Cherries back in 2010/11. The full-back has blossomed into a first XI Premier League footballer under the tutelage of Eddie Howe at Bournemouth. The 26 year old has played 113 times already for the club and Eddie Howe is delighted that Smith will increase that figure: "When we first brought Adam to the club we believed he had huge potential. Adam has taken his opportunity." Likewise, Smith is happy with the deal. He told the Cherries' website that "there is nowhere else [he wants] to be at the moment."

Alvaro Morata made his Chelsea debut as the Premier League champions suffered 3-2 International Champions Cup defeat to Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Manager Antonio Conte will be disappointing with the overall performance, as Chelsea conceded three goals inside the opening 27 minutes of a match that could have easily been a thrashing by Bayern. However, if there was one positive to be taken, it was Morata's second-half substitute cameo . The big money signing came after 63 minutes with the Blue trailing 3-1 and set up Michy Batshuayi's late goal. Morata won the corner and was then directly involved in the goal as he flicked a Cesc Fabregas' cross into the path of Batshuayi to bury at the far post. Though the late strike was little consolation for the defeat, Conte's side have one more friendly (vs. Inter Milan on Saturday) and 12 days time to prepare for their Community Shield clash with Arsenal.

Now above £200 million, Manchester City is closing in on Real Madrid's all-time transfer window record spending of £230 million.

The Sky Blues confirmed a world-record £52 million move for 23-year-old Benjamin Mendy just over a week after breaking the record for a defender with a move for Kyle Walker. The Monaco star fills City's last major hole, although at the expense of criticism with Pep Guardiola now spending more than £200 million in defense in the past year: more than the annual military defense spending of Bosnia as a flurry of well-timed memes pointed out. Said Director of Football Txiki Begiristain: "Benjamin has all the qualities we are looking for in a full-back. For such a young player, he has a wealth of top-level experience. He is undoubtedly one of the world’s best full-backs, our number one target in this position. We are all delighted to have him here at Manchester City."

Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly will not feature for the Red Devils against Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday, August 8.

UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings into an incident in United's Europa League Second-Leg clash with Celta Vigo at Old Trafford in which the defender was sent off. Bailly saw red for lashing out at Celta frontman John Guidetti in that match and received an automatic one match ban as a reprimand. However, Europe's football governing body have now opted to add two more games to that suspension. The Ivorian served the first portion of the suspension by sitting out the Europa League final. The UEFA Super Cup will be the second game and the final part of the suspension will be served during United's first Champions League group game.
