Tottenham recorded their second consecutive win at Old Trafford as 2-1 victory over Manchester United lifted them to sixth in the Premier League.

Emmanuel Adebayor and Christian Eriksen scored the goals to put Spurs in to a deserved 2-0 lead before Danny Welbeck grabbed a goal back immediately. It was then all Manchester United for the final twenty minutes, but Tottenham hung on for a memorable victory and Tim Sherwood remains unbeaten in the Premier League, with three wins and a draw in his first four games as manager. This was a fourth home defeat of the season for United, and they drop to seventh in the table, 11 points behind leaders Arsenal.

Alexis Sanchez was all over the pitch winning a penalty, having it saved, scoring Arsenal's first and then assisting on their second in a 2-1 Boxing Day win over QPR.

It was a little bit of everything from Alexis Sanchez and Arsenal on Boxing Day. Sanchez was very good drawing a penalty, scoring a goal and getting an assist. On the down side, Giroud was sent off for a rash headbutt on Nedum Onuoha and Sanchez saw a weak penalty saved by Robert Green. Arsenal also conceded a late penalty that Charlie Austin scored to make the final ten minutes tense at the Emirates.

Charlie Austin was at it again with a goal from the penalty spot but QPR couldn't stage another big comeback as they lost their ninth consecutive away match at the Emirates 2-1 on Boxing Day.

It seemed unlikely that QPRs first road points of the season would come at the Emirates and they didn't but it was closer than expected after Olivier Giroud was sent off. Austin spent most of the first half as a make-shift defender warding off set pieces and corners in the QPR box. With Giroud off early in the second half, Austin and the Rs took a more attacking posture and were eventually rewarded with a penalty that Junior Hoilett drew from Mathieu Debuchy and Charlie Austin converted. The Rs pressed for the equalizer and had some solid chances and potential penalty claims but couldn't get the second.

Roberto Martinez will be sweating on the fitness of a number of players ahead of the clash with Newcastle at St James’ Park in GW19.

The Toffees came through a particularly bruising encounter against Stoke having lost the game one nil and up to four first team members with various injuries and ailments. In a first half with over ten minutes extra time being played Phil Jagielka and John Stones [both ankle], Tim Howard [calf], Ross Barkley [nose] all received treatment while Ryan Shawcross was left with a bloodied and bandaged head. Kevin Mirallas was also the recipient of a heavy Charlie Adam challenge during the second half. Howard and Jagielka remain the biggest doubts with Joel Robles and Antolin Alcaraz the likely benefactors in what the manager bills as a "pivotal" game having seen his side slide alarmingly down the table – the Toffees are currently 13 points behind last season’s total at the same stage.

Southampton defender Toby Alderweireld continued his hot fantasy form with a goal in the Saints' win over Crystal Palace.

Alderweireld makes it two consecutive weeks with double digit points despite not getting a clean sheet today. He is nailed on as a starter in Southampton and only costs £ 8.16M, making him an attractive options for fantasy managers in various formats. He can be used with confidence. Ryan Bertrand also scored today and is an even better fantasy option, but the price difference makes Bertrand hard to own unless you have him at a discount.

Leonardo Ulloa returned to Leicester's starting lineup with a goal.

Ulloa was impressive today and created danger in front of Tottenham's goal. He scored the Foxes' only goal of the day and did enough to warrant being started again in Leicester's next match. Ulloa has shown he can be streaky, but he just finished a long drought and a match away at Hull City is probably not the best matchup for a striker. Stay away for now but consider him if he earns another start and plays well at Hull.

Southampton got on the board early in the 17th minute and kept their foot on the gas, cruising to victory over Crystal Palace 3-1 on Boxing Day.

Sadio Mane got the Saints off to a great start, finishing a breakaway produced by a brilliant through ball from James Ward-Prowse. Mane and Ward-Prowse each assisted on the second and third goals. Palace finally got one back in the 86th minute off a set-piece header from Scott Dann, bringing some life to the home crowd, but that's about it. Saints were in control for most of the day. Palace play on the road vs QPR in two days and Southampton take on the league leaders (Chelsea) at home.

Diego Costa was back in top form today with a goal and an assist against West Ham United.

The Chelsea striker was a force from the start and was taken off with about ten minutes left to be presumably saved for Sunday's match against Southampton. Jose Mourinho stated earlier this week that no player will play in all three games over the holidays but with Costa being regularly pulled early, he may be risked for all matches. Check lineups before using him.

Sam Vokes was brought on as a substitute in the final stages in an effort to find a equalizer against Liverpool, but the Clarets were kept quiet in a 0-1 loss.

It is positive news on an otherwise dreary day for the Clarets, who could not take advantage of a struggling Liverpool attack and showed their own inability to finish today. Burnley actually were the better side in the first half and were at least equal to Liverpool over the course of 90 minutes, but it appears only an in-form Danny Ings can provide their attack any semblance of consistency. Hopefully, for their cause, Vokes can add another dimension that helps them out of the drop zone.

Adam Johnson got the opener for Sunderland, but Hull City clawed their way back to win 3-1 at the Stadium of light.

Hull conceded 29 seconds into the match on a sloppy giveaway at the back, but Gaston Ramirez equalized in the 33rd minute, James Chester got the winner in the 51st and Nikica Jelavic put the nail in the coffin in stoppage time to put Hull within striking distance of escaping relegation. Ramirez finished with a goal and an assist, giving manager Steve Bruce plenty to consider when Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore return from suspension. Hull are at home vs Leicester in a couple days while Sunderland travel to Aston Villa.

Bojan was at the center of a major turning point in the match between Stoke City and Everton when the referee awarded a penalty after he was brought down, and it would be Bojan himself that converted the penalty which led to the controversial 0-1 final.

Stoke played the Grinch today and really stole the presents away from Everton fans at Goodison Park. Their lone goal was awarded via a penalty chance that looked rather soft, especially when just moments earlier, Jonathan Walters appeared to have committed a much more egregious foul that many would say deserved a red card. Otherwise, the Toffees dominated the stat sheet in just about every way and should have come away with something. Instead, Stoke rise to a more comfortable mid-table position, one point ahead of Everton.

Brad Guzan earned his 100th appearance today when Aston Villa faced Swansea.

He becomes the 10th American to get 100 Premier League matches under his belt. Brad Friedel leads all Americans with 450. Guzan made a crucial error in the match when he failed to challenge Gylfi Sigurdsson's free-kick for the only goal of the match. Despite the error, Guzan remains Villa's number one option between the posts. He is also challenging Tim Howard for Team USA's starting goalkeeper spot for upcoming competitions.
