Arsene Wenger has indicated that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who returned to training after a long injury lay off, will be fit and available against Aston Villa.

In a press conference published on the club's web site, Wenger said "It is unbelievable because he played the first game of the season, against Aston Villa, and now he is back and available and it is against Aston Villa again. That makes it five months where has been completely out, so that means he is fresh and that should give us a boost." With Theo Walcott out for the year with an injury, Wenger will have both Ox and the promising Serge Gnabry to offer pace on the right even if no new signings are brought in.

Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe may be heading back to the Premier League after just five months playing for Toronto FC in the MLS.

This news has coincided with manager Ryan Nelsen leaving Toronto FC following the club's 3-0 defeat over the weekend. Toronto general manager Tim Bezbatchenko confirmed that the club have received an offer for Defoe, and Sky Sports are reporting this offer has come from Harry Redknapp's QPR. With the transfer deadline just hours away both clubs will need to get a move on if they are to get a deal completed.

Hull City have signed Cork City defender Brian Lenihan for an undisclosed fee.

20-year-old Lenihan is a right-back who can also play in midfield, and is a Republic of Ireland U-21 international. He becomes Hull's seventh signing of the summer and will provide competition for Ahmed Elmohamady on the right flank.

Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has completed a year-long loan to Italian club AC Milan.

van Ginkel was behind on the pecking order at Chelsea and wouldn't have seen much playing time this year behind Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas, Ramires, and John Obi Mikel. The 22-year-old should get a good run at AC Milan and earn some very important first team experience while he is there. van Ginkel is a very highly rated prospect by Chelsea and should be a major part of their team going forward, just not this year.

Shinji Kagawa's frustrating time at Old Trafford has come to an end as he has been officially announced as a Borussia Dortmund player once again.

The star of consecutive Bundesliga titles before coming to England, Japan international Kagawa will be excited to return to a place where he is far more likely to see the pitch. The arrivals of Juan Mata and Angel di Maria have further limited the chances of Kagawa seeing significant playing time. The massive transfer fees paid out this summer and corresponding high salaries means that Kagawa is a luxury they can no longer afford.

Alexis Sanchez scored in a second consecutive match but Arsenal couldn't hold the lead for more than two minutes as they drew 1-1 at the King Power Stadium.

Arsenal continued to look tepid in the attack as they dropped two critical points to newly promoted Leicester City with goals by Alexis Sanchez for the Gunners and Leonardo Ulloa for the home side. The Foxes have been strong in their first three matches since returning to the Premier League but Arsenal should have picked up the three points after dominating possession.

Leonardo Ulloa has scored twice in Leicester City's two good draws this season against Everton in Week 1 and now against Arsenal this weekend.

The Argentine forward is looking like an excellent buy as he has helped them hold their own over a very difficult first three matches in the Premier League. Home to Everton and Arsenal and away to Chelsea is as hard as any opening group of matches is likely to be and Leicester City now have 2 points from those three matches. Leonardo Ulloa's finishing along with the excellent running, passing and crossing of Joseph Schlupp was the key to the Foxes' goal. They were supported by an all-around strong defending/counter-attacking effort from the entire team. Traveling to the Midlands to face Leicester City isn't going to be an easy task for established teams in the Premier League this season.

Queens Park Rangers' striker Loic Remy has completed a move to Chelsea on a four year deal.

The Blues were a bit scared earlier this week when Diego Costa suffered a minor injury and his status was unsure going forward. It seems the situation has inspired them to bring Loic Remy to town and they've finalized the transfer. Reports have also said that Remy has passed his physical, which was not as straight forward as usual since he failed a physical at Liverpool earlier this summer. Remy's fantasy value has taken a big dive with the transfer, as he is now strictly a backup to Diego Costa and will have to battle Didier Drogba for backup duties.

Liverpool continued their recent dominance over Tottenham with a tidy 0-3 win in which Alberto Moreno earned a goal and a clean sheet on the day.

Taking into account the two matches between these two clubs last season, Liverpool have outscored Spurs twelve goals to none. Raheem Sterling was once again darting around like a flea on a hot brick, causing problems all afternoon for the Spurs defense and scoring the opening goal, which proved to be the game-winner. It was the Liverpool defense that stood out though, as they continue to keep Spurs out while seemingly conceding to anyone and everyone else. Moreno dispossessed a newly subbed-in Andros Townsend and sprinted down the left to score on a superb individual effort. We may see an unchanged backline when Pool host Aston Villa next. Oh, we are required by Mario Balotelli to mention that Mario Balotelli made his debut.

Tottenham's positive start to the season hit a stone wall today as they were outclassed on their own ground by Liverpool, 0-3, continuing their struggles against the Reds.

An anticipated test for Spurs did not go as hoped for Mauricio Pochettino, as a familiar pest in Raheem Sterling gave Liverpool the early advantage that would not be relinquished. Spurs were in it in the first half and the match looked as if it could go either way to start the 2nd frame, but a soft penalty was awarded when Eric Dier grabbed Joe Allen's shirt while the Red midfielder was in the box, and Allen collapsed to earn a spot kick which was converted by Steven Gerrard. That two goal cushion turned a close match into a walk in the park for Liverpool for the game's remainder. A sobering wakeup call for Spurs, they must learn something from this and come back strong when they visit Sunderland in Week 4.

Manchester City were condemned to only their second home defeat since December 2012 after Mark Hughes’ side engineered a perfectly executed smash and grab raid which left summer signing Fernando injured.

Fernando was caught by a rather innocuous challenge during a tenacious first half in which Stoke battled hard to restrict City’s free flowing attacking football. Glenn Whelan – who returned on Saturday following injury - lunged from behind while Fernando was laying a simple pass and the Brazilian immediately grabbed his inner thigh signalling to the bench. City boss Manuel Pellegrini confirmed post-match that the player will be assessed over the coming days, although one thing we do know is that City will have no shortage of potential replacements with Fernandinho, Frank Lampard and James Milner all waiting in the wings.

Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal has calmed growing concerns that new signing Angel Di Maria and playmaker Juan Mata were withdrawn during Saturday’s draw with Burnley because of serious injury.

The pair appeared in obvious pain as the Argentine slowly trudged off after a bright opening to his United career while Juan Mata was seen clutching his hamstring moments before his substitution. However injury fears were laid to rest as van Gaal confirmed both players were replaced as a precaution; Di Maria took a kick to the calf while his Spanish teammate was suffering from cramp. The serves as a huge relief with ten players already sidelined; even a grade one tear would’ve meant up to three weeks out. United will regroup over the international break with a number of first squad members expected to back amongst the ranks for their next home game against Queens Park Rangers.
