Frazier Campbell scored a late consolation goal against Manchester City as he continued his assault on Manchester teams.

Former Manchester United player Frazier Campbell continued to punish the Manchester teams with his fourth goal in three matches against City and United. The problem for Cardiff and Campbell is that he's only scored one goal (vs. Sunderland) in all of his other matches this season. Perhaps Ole Gunner Solskjaer's Man United history will convince Campbell that all of Cardiff's future matches involve a Manchester team. In other Cardiff news, new signing Magnus Wolff Eikrem had the assist on Campbell's goal after coming in as a substitute in the 78th minute.

Tottenham survived a strong fightback from League One side Sheffield United to set up a League Cup final with Chelsea after another late goal from Christian Eriksen.

After Spurs had won the first leg 1-0 they appeared to be in cruise control when Eriksen's magnificent first-half free-kick put them 2-0 up on aggregate. The score stayed that way until the final 15 minutes, when Sheffield United's 18-year-old substitute Che Adams struck twice in three minutes, bringing the prospect of extra time into focus. However, Eriksen saved Spurs once again, controlling a fine through-ball from Harry Kane and finishing smartly to secure a 3-2 aggregate victory. It was the fourth time this season that the Danish star has scored decisive goals in the 87th minute or later.

Branislav Ivanovic is an early doubt for Saturdays’ top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge after the Capital One goalscoring hero picked up a nasty foot injury against Liverpool.

Ivanovic grabbed the all-important winning goal on Wednesday night to secure a Wembley appearance - Capital One cup final – and after 120 gruelling minutes the defender revealed he had been playing through the pain-barrier as his lacerated foot seeped blood through his boots. It’s unclear whether Ivanovic will need stitches but Mourinho did confirm the player would be assessed ahead of the game along with Fabregas [hamstring] and Luis [calf]. Diego Costa is also facing a three game ban – violent conduct – for his ‘alleged’ stamp on Emre Can – the Spanish international has until 6pm GMT to lodge an appeal.

Sam Allardyce will need to check on a number of players ahead of the trip to Anfield after last weekends’ bruising encounter against Bristol City in the FA Cup.

Alex Song, Carl Jenkinson and James Tomkins have all been in the treatment room this week and both defenders are rated as ‘touch & go’ although there was better news as regarding James Collins [back] who will join the main group today. However the Hammers’ are unlikely to welcome back Cheikhou Kouyate despite his elimination from the African Cup of Nations – the whereabouts of the holding midfielder is currently unknown. Diafra Sakho is expected to be available although the Senegalese FA are considering a formal complaint for his non-appearance in Equatorial Guinea because of a back injury – the proposed punishment would suggestion a domestic ban for the West Ham striker but Allardyce "is unconcerned" adding the club has done nothing wrong.

Arsene Wenger indicated in his Friday news conference that while Danny Welbeck won't be ready for Aston Villa in Week 23 that he will be ready for Spurs in Week 24.

Arsenal are flush with attacking options right now so the absence of Danny Welbeck hasn't been felt to any great extent in recent weeks. That said, Wenger indicated that Alexis Sanchez has a "hamstring complaint" that could keep him out of the line-up against Aston Villa. Should Sanchez miss not only the Villa match but additional time, Wenger will be thrilled to have Welbeck as an option along with Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil as he looks to compliment Olivier Giroud in a crucial match for the Gunners in the race for a Champions League spot.

Arsene Wenger has indicated that Alexis Sanchez has a hamstring concern and could miss Arsenal's Week 23 match with Aston Villa at the Emirates.

Alexis Sanchez has played a lot across all competitions this season coming off of a busy summer at the World Cup. The fact that he has a hamstring issue that could cause him to miss a match shouldn't be surprising. Arsene Wenger hasn't ruled the player out yet but has indicated that there won't be any decision made until after salary cap league transfer deadlines have expired for Week 23. The safe bet is to exclude him from your roster or at least have a strong bench option in place. For single ownership formats, the concern is that you will need a replacement from either the Arsenal vs. Villa match or the Southampton vs. Swansea match as all other matches will have taken place before Sanchez's fate is known.

Arsene Wenger indicated in his Week 23 press conference that Jack Wilshere is about 10 days from resuming normal training activities.

Given that Wilshere's ankle injury has likely caused his fitness levels to drop, he will probably require a significant period of returning to match fitness after he is healthy enough to resume training. If February 8 represents a solid estimate of his first normal training session then it seems reasonable that he won't be ready to play in the Premier League for another two weeks after than with a next start unlikely until early March.

Diego Costa is being charged by the FA for an alleged stamp on defender Emre Can during Chelsea's 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Capital One Cup.

The Chelsea-Liverpool match was an ugly one and Costa could have been sent off for two different challenges but was lucky to stay on the pitch. The first one was on Emre Can and the second was on defender Martin Skrtel. Both looked intentional and Costa will most likely be found guilty by the FA. If he is found guilty, he will serve a three-match ban that will likely start against Manchester City on Saturday. If Costa is suspended, Didier Drogba will likely start for the Blues and will be a fine fantasy option at his price.

Jose Mourinho has been left counting the cost of Wednesday nights’ Capital One semi-final win as Chelsea could potentially be without up to FOUR first team regulars for the crucial top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Branislav Ivanovic grabbed the only goal of the game in extra-time to confirm a date at Wembley in March but the win was slightly marred by the loss of Cesc Fabregas [hamstring] and Felipe Luis [calf] to injury while Ivanovic himself played through the pain-barrier with a foot laceration. The trio will be assessed further over the next 24/48 hours and their involvement on Saturday is uncertain. Fabregas was said to be replaced as a precaution after feeling muscle tightness which hopefully gives the Spanish maestro a decent chance but Luis is a concern – however Azpilicueta is a like for like replacement. The English FA will also be awaiting a referees report from the game to decide if they need to take any retrospective action against Diego Costa for ‘alleged’ stamping.

Liverpool were full of promise and hope having acquitted themselves well against champions elect Chelsea at Anfield a week ago, their high pressing game and searing pace on the break caused numerous problems on the night earning Thibaut Courtois the man-of-the-match award.

But all hopes of a cup final appearance were dashed as Branislav Ivanovic headed home Willian’s cross early in extra-time to seal the win. Liverpool are almost unrecognisable from the side which stuttered through the early weeks of their Premier League campaign and now look assured and something like the side which pushed Manchester City hard last season. However Wednesdays’ misery was compounded by the loss of Mamadou Sakho not long after half-time to an unspecified injury – the defender has excelled since his return from a thigh injury in December and last night was the first time he has tasted defeat in 12 games. Dejan Lovren could return should the Frenchman miss the visit of West Ham on Saturday.

Tony Pulis has confirmed to the team's official web site that the Baggies have acquired Wigan FA Cup hero Callum McManaman for an undisclosed fee.

Pulis was promised funds to put his stamp on the Baggies when he signed and bringing in dynamic attackers for the wide areas is clearly one of his priorities. With a solid, Pulis-like back line already in place and Saido Berahino scoring goals centrally, Callum McManaman will get a chance to boost the Baggies attack in support of Berahino and Victor Anichebe.

Paris Saint-Germain are exploring the possibility of taking Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor on loan until the end of the season.

Sky Sports are running this story, suggesting discussions have already taken place between PSG and Tottenham, but it's noted that the French side could face competition for the striker's services from Harry Redknapp's Queens Park Rangers. Adebayor has scored 42 goals in 111 appearances for Spurs but has found first-team opportunities limited this season due to injuries, personal issues and of course, the form of Harry Kane. The Togo forward was also booed by sections of the home support when he captained the side for their Capital One Cup semi-final first leg tie against Sheffield United last week, and it may be best for all parties to allow Adebayor to explore other options before the transfer window closes on Monday.
