Utility midfielder/forward Zoltan Gera is on the verge of signing a new deal to stay at the Hawthorns.

With Romelu Lukaku gone, Peter Odemwingie fading and wanting to leave, and Markus Rosenberg seemingly not very good West Brom can't afford to lose productive attacking players - even injured ones. Gera isn't an out-and-out forward but he is a useful attacker when he's healthy. His return to the line-up will allow Steve Clarke to focus on bringing in new talent rather than replacing yet another contributor leaving for nothing.

Phil Bardsley conceded a penalty to Ashley Williams on a PK and Shay Given was charged with an own goal as Leighton Baines' penalty rebounded in off the goalkeeper for the only goal of the match.

It isn't the sort of moment that Shay Given will appreciate as he likely heads to the bench after the international break. With Jack Butland expected back soon the former Ireland goalkeeper will feel unlucky to have conceded the Baines penalty. Stoke City will be even more concerned as the goal was the result of the second penalty from a corner kick awarded against them in the space of two weeks. Mark Hughes had better spend some time cleaning up the set piece defense or it's going to be an ugly season for the Potters.

Sunderland couldn't manage to get its first win of the season but the Black Cats did earn their first point under David Moyes.

The Scottish manager looked set for his first Premier League win with the club, following the midweek League Cup win against Shrewsbury, after veteran forward Jermain Defoe drew a foul on Southampton defender Jose Fonte in the penalty box in the 80th minute and converted the chance past goalkeeper Fraser Forster for his second goal of the season. But the Black Cats blew the 1-0 lead with just five minutes left in the match after a Jay Rodriguez goal. For Sunderland, Fabio Borini and Lamine Kone returned from injury while Steven Pienaar and Javier Manquillo earned their first starts.

Ashley Williams won a penalty and earned a clean sheet in a big win for Everton over Stoke City on Saturday at Goodison Park.

It could have gone better in the attack with Romelu Lukaku and Yannick Bolasie both in the starting line-up but the result is what matters. The key play of the match saw Phil Bardsley trip Ashley Williams in the area as Williams was trying to run on to a set piece. The penalty was taken by Leighton Baines and, while Baines hit the bar, his shot rebounded off the post and hit Shay Given on the back and went in off the Stoke City keeper for the winner.

Eden Hazard scored the opening goal and it proved to be all Chelsea needed as they outclassed Burnley in a 3-0 romp.

It was classic Chelsea today, who displayed a fluid attack from start to finish with great play on the wings by Hazard and Willian. Hazard grabbed his second goal of the season by making a run from midfield and struck with his right foot into the bottom far corner in clinical fashion. Willian then got into the act with a brilliant one-on-one move against his defender and buried a low scorcher into the net. They could have scored five or six goals in this one but Tom Heaton did well to keep it from being an embarrassing scoreline. The Blues but the game to bed in the 89th minute when one substitute, Pedro led a charge and fed Victor Moses, another substitute with the latter banging it home. This is clearly not last year's Chelsea and Hazard has returned to the form that made him Player of the Year two seasons ago.

Mesut Ozil created a goal and scored a second as Arsenal sprinted to a 3-0 first half lead and held on to beat Watford 3-1 at Vicarage Road.

Ozil was back doing what he does best in his first start of the season. His excellent ball in for Alexis Sanchez early saw the Chilean fouled in the box rather than allow him to make the attempt on goal. Santi Cazorla converted the penalty. Ozil finished Arsenal's scoring as well with Alexis, who scored Arsenal's second from a Walcott assist, crossing for a wide open Ozil to head home. Arsenal weren't as good in the second half but only conceded once in the second half to take all three points back to North London.

Burnley could not keep pace with a lively Chelsea side and hardly threatened to score on the day as they take a 3-0 loss at Stamford Bridge.

The Clarets were unable to build upon a surprising win against Liverpool last week and had no answers in attack or defense against Chelsea. After conceding their second goal to the Blues, they had their best chance to score when Scott Arfield found the space to score with a low drive but it drifted just wide of the far post. Despite letting three goals past them, it could have been much worse were it not for Tome Heaton, who made several quality saves. Burnley have a much more promising fixture after the international break to get back on the right track when they host Hull City.

Roberto Pereyra didn't start but he did come on at halftime and scored in the second half in his Premier League debut.

The Argentine won't be used to being down 3-0 when coming on to the pitch after spending time at Juventus but he and Daryl Janmaat made a difference as Watford were much better in the second half. Pereyra was rewarded for his work with an opportunistic goal from a scramble in the Arsenal box. Pereyra looks like he could be the sort of midfielder that Watford need to compliment Ighalo and Deeney.

Mark Hughes was forced into a defensive change at Goodison Park on Saturday after Philippe Wollscheid was ruled out because of an inner ear problem.

No mention from Mark Hughes during Thursdays’ pre-match press conference, but the Stoke Sentinel confirm that they have spoken to assistant manager Mark Bowen, who said the defender was back in Germany for short break because of the infection. US international Geoff Cameron came in for his first Premier League start of the season, while Peter Crouch was rewarded for his midweek hat-trick as Bojan dropped to the bench. Xherdan Shaqiri missed out again amid reports from Switzerland that he could be side-lined up-to six weeks because of a persistent calf complaint.

Walter Mazzarri was forced into two defensive changes against Arsenal in game week three with Craig Cathcart and Miguel Britos ruled out for the Golden Boys.

The Hornets boss confirmed: "Cathcart had a last-minute [groin] injury so two changes were forced" while Britos is about to become a father. Younes Kaboul came in for his first Premier League start following his £3m switch from Sunderland, and the 30-year-old was partnered with another debutant, Belgium international Christian Kabasele. Isaac Success was available after recovering from a hamstring strain, and the forward was named on the bench alongside fellow new boys Daryl Janmaat and Roberto Pereyra who arrived at Vicarage Road this week.

Kyle Walker had to exit Tottenham's match against Liverpool during the first half because of an illness.

Walker did not look right from the start and had a rough time trying to contain the runs of Philippe Coutinho. He was removed in the 27th minute and replaced by Vincent Janssen, Janssen causes Dele Alli to drop into a deeper midfield role with Eric Dier covering at right back. With the international break coming up, Walker should be feeling better in time for Week 4.

Michel Vorm, filling in for the injured Hugo Lloris, put in a solid performance and helped Tottenham to keep within reach of eventually drawing with Liverpool, 1-1.

It did not take long for Vorm to come up big for Tottenham, stopping a Philippe Coutinho shot from close range. Liverpool were on the front foot for the majority of the match, but Vorm was excellent in his decision-making, coming out of the box on a few occasions to thwart a Reds chance. The only ball that managed to get by him was a James Milner penalty shot shortly before halftime. Spurs managed to level the match in the 72nd minute with a Danny Rose strike after he met a ball headed to him by Erik Lamela. Spurs have questions that need answers in their attack but Vorm has been solid between the sticks.
