Manchester City have confirmed the signing of winger Jesus Navas from Sevilla on a four-year deal.

The club have confirmed the deal is worth an initial £14.9m, potentially rising to £15.9m over the course of his contract. Navas is a quality addition to the Manchester City squad and will provide pace, creativity and goals while helping to reduce City's occasional over-reliance on David Silva. We await to see what this could mean for Samir Nasri, with a summer move away from the club a distinct possibility.

Chelsea used new signing Kenedy at left-back as frustrations about their defense grow.

The Blues have had one of the worst defenses in the league this season, which is very surprising considering their defensive prowess of the past few seasons. They are lacking speed at the back and Mourinho decided to replace Cesar Azpilicueta with Kenedy in the second half on Saturday. Kenedy played well there, despite being out of position, and was praised by Mourinho. We won't be surprised to see Kenedy or Baba Rahman start at left-back in the next match.

Southampton kept a clean sheet with ease today as they only allowed Norwich to get six shots off.

Norwich were down to 10 men midway through the first half and that was part of the reason they couldn't get anything going against the Saints, but Southampton were brilliant in defense and did well to only allow six shots. Out of the six, only one was on target, and it was easily saved by Stekelenburg. Southampton's defense seems to be getting back on track and we feel now is a good time to invest, especially with Ryan Bertrand coming back soon.

Bafetimbi Gomis continued his consistent scoring run, netting the game-winner as Swansea City defeated Manchester United, 2-1.

After having taken the double from the Red Devils last season, it looked as if Swansea were in trouble after going 0-1 down in the 48th minute, knowing that the visitors had yet to give a goal up on the season. The absence of Jefferson Montero (thigh) furthered the uphill battle. But this very balanced Swansea attack found the breakthrough not long after going down. On the hour mark, a quick counter-attack saw Gylfi Sigurdsson deliver a perfect cross to Andre Ayew who had a free header to beat the keeper. Then, six minutes later, Gomis scored for the fourth consecutive contest, meeting up with a perfectly weighted pass from Ayew to slot home from point blank range. Rumors are circulating about Gomis' 7m buyout clause in his contract. Clubs like United and Spurs sure look in need of his services.

Manchester United took the lead with a Juan Mata goal but their defense finally cracked and allowed Swansea City to come from behind and defeat them again, 2-1.

Louis van Gaal, meet Garry Monk. So much fanfare around LvG's arrival to Old Trafford last season, but he has now lost three in three to the young Swansea skipper and the Red Devil fan base will surely be asking questions as the transfer window closes about what looks to be a very inadequate attacking core. Wayne Rooney struggled once again up top and we are still waiting to see Memphis Depay make the kind of splash LvG was hoping for. They did manage to get a goal from Mata, who found a Luke Shaw cross at the far post to score his first of the season. Still, they need another playmaker in midfield and/or a striker before this window shuts. The Ander Herrera experiment in the No. 10 role did not work out well.

Sadio Mane was fantastic in Southampton's 3-0 win over Norwich today.

The midfielder was only credited with two assists but he was at the heart of all three Southampton goals today deserves as much credit as anyone on that squad. Mane created five chances on the day and attempted seven crosses, to go along with his two shots on target. He seemed healthy and rested after missing the Saints' midweek clash with a knock, and he seems primed for a huge season ahead. Buy low on him if you can, as some seem to be down on him at the moment.

As Roberto Martinez enters his most challenging week yet as Everton manager, he might now have another player to replace as Tom Cleverley leaves the pitch on a stretcher…

The value of John Stones is seemingly increasing by the minute. Not just because Chelsea are intent on lurching from one drama to another – although that doesn’t hurt. But by another immaculate display, this time at the expense of last season’s great white hope Harry Kane. Yes, he was aided and abetted by Seamus Coleman, demonstrating that there is more than one Everton defender that big clubs will pay big money for. And Goalkeeper Tim Howard back to his athletic best. But the loss of Stones would be a crushing blow, no matter the number of zeros added to Everton’s end of year figures or who arrives in his place. Talking of new arrivals, the injury to Tom Cleverley should give an extended run in the team to Kevin Mirallas. But might also prompt the pursuit of another midfield player, in addition to striker Leonardo Rodriguez and defender Ramiro Funes Mori.

Sunderland will be grateful for an away point but with the shutters coming down on the transfer window, Dick Advocaat looks more than a few pieces of the jigsaw still missing…

The feeling inside Sunderland was the major (and expensive) surgery that took place in the summer had paved the way to a brighter future. And then the season started – which will undo all the best laid plans. The team looks still very much a work in progress, with the center-back partnership tinkered with again – Younes Kaboul partnered John O’Shea this time. Center-forward duties were shared – equally unconvincingly - a half each by Danny Graham and Steven Fletcher. Midfielder Yann M’Vila hasn’t convinced a single PL.com manager to invest, but opened his account with an excellent free-kick. But hopes will depend on the ‘worldies’ that Costel Pantilimon pull off (two so far this season) and the goals that Jermains Lens and Defoe can smuggle. And how many reinforcements can be drafted in before 6pm on Tuesday.

Crystal Palace continue to walk the walk, becoming only the second team to win at Chelsea in Jose Mourinho’s 100 matches at the Bridge…

Who’d have thunk it? Palace bosses Pardew and Parish spent the summer talking the talk – and, it should be said, backing it up with spending the cash. But we didn’t think they would be going to Chelsea and winning, did we? Of course, we didn’t think that Chelsea would start the season like a new-born giraffe. And no-one could’ve foreseen the descent of Branislav Ivanovic from FL manager’s ‘must have’ defender to weak link. Palace mercilessly targeted the right-back, basing 50% of their attacking play down their left. Bakary Sako dominated the poor Serb, setting up the winner for Joel Ward – that’s five goals and four assists in his last nine matches. And we perhaps shouldn’t be too surprised by the result. This is the Eagle’s seventh win from nine away trips since January. Won’t be their last either…

Southampton finally gave in a good display this season, defeating 10-man Norwich 3-0 at home.

Dusan Tadic re-entered the starting XI today and was instrumental in the win. He scored twice in the second half to secure the game, after Graziano Pelle scored at the end of the first to open things up. Sadio Mane also played really well today, getting two assists on top of two shots on goal and seven crosses. Southampton are now in 10th place with five points from their first four matches.

Tom Cleverley is set for an extended spell out after the 26 year-old was stretchered off just moments before the break at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

As the clock ticked towards half-time Cleverley made a lung bursting run towards the Tottenham box before a strong Eric Dier challenge halted his progress. The impact of the tackle - and subsequent follow through – caught the Everton midfielder who instantly signalled to the bench for assistance. The medical team were able to confirm at HT that Cleverley had suffered a "serious" ankle injury although the extent was still unknown. However post-match Roberto Martinez did provide an update "[we are a] little more positive now" as it only appears to be ligament damage which is "minor" in comparison. It could take up-to a week for a full diagnosis but Cleverley is expected to miss at least a month in the first instance.

Claudio Ranieri was quick to allay injury concerns after the Italian revealed post-match that Riyad Mahrez had been taken off as a precaution.

Mahrez has been in fine form – topping the PL goalscoring charts – but his afternoon was cut short at Dean Court after the Algerian was replaced by summer signing Shinji Okazaki at half-time. During the post-match media briefing Ranieri was able to confirm that Mahrez had been substituted as a "precaution" after taking a knock to the back from former Fox Max Gradel during the early exchanges. "We changed him because he took a kick very early in the game and after that, in the battle, he could not play at full speed. I wanted us to keep pressing forward, so we replaced him." Mahrez is expected to return in GW5.
