Christian Eriksen insists he would not seek a move away from Tottenham if Tim Sherwood's side fail to finish in the top four this season.

This is good news for Spurs in light of the recent admissions by Hugo Lloris and Jan Vertonghen that they would consider their futures if the club failed to finish in the top 4. Eriksen has shown glimpses of his quality but he is still young, and it would seem natural that he'll be ready to make a bigger impact in the Premier League next season.

Big news out of Burnley FC as the club has announced that Tom Heaton has returned to training following a shoulder injury that has kept him out since September.

The return of the club captain will be a welcome one, though Heaton's absence allowed another keeper, Nick Pope, to emerge as a top flight-level net-minder. Because Pope has fared so well, one would expect the club to not rush Heaton back to competitive action. That said, Heaton is the clear #1, even pushing to be England's #1 before injury, so the countdown clock on Pope's fantasy relevance is on. Heaton is definitely worth a stash now if you have room to do so in draft leagues.

Chelsea advanced into the fourth round of the FA Cup with penalty shootout victory over Norwich after Pedro and substitute Alvaro Morata were sent off in a frenetic extra time period.

Michy Batshuayi had given Chelsea the lead in the 55th minute, but Norwich leveled deep into injury-time when 19-year-old Jamal Lewis headed home from Timm Klose's cross. With the match in extra time, Pedro was first to go after picking up his second yellow card of the night having already been booked for a dive. The Blues were then reduced to nine men shortly thereafter when Morata was sent to stands for a bad protest to being booked for diving himself. Chelsea did survive penalties to secure a fourth-round tie against Newcastle, however, Pedro and Morata will be suspended with the club already stretched. Without the pair this weekend, Batshuayi and Willian are in line to start against Brighton.

Chelsea defeated Norwich 5-3 on penalties to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup after a 1-1 draw in Wednesday's third-round replay at Stamford Bridge.

Michy Batshuayi snapped Chelsea's three-match goal drought in the 55th minute when he converted Kenedy's cross from close. However, home side's night was forced into extra time just before the death. Norwich youngster Jamal Lewis stepped into the spotlight and headed home a cross deep into injury to force an extra 30 minutes. Chelsea would however prevail despite the dismissal of Pedro and substitute Alvaro Morata in extra time, as Willy Caballero saved the Canaries' first penalty effort to send Chelsea them into the fourth round.

Manchester City officially confirmed defender Nicolas Otamendi has signed a new four-year contract.

The Argentine international has enjoyed his best season to date since joining the Sky Blues in 2015 after nearly going to Manchester United with four goals and 10 clean sheets thus far. After making 118 appearances since 2015, the club awarded the 29-year-old with a new deal through 2022. "I’ve enjoyed my time at City since the first day I arrived and I’m really happy to have extended my stay here by a couple more years. My only aim is to help the team and give all I can for this Club. Everton officially unveiled its newest signing in Arsenal winger Theo Walcott in a deal worth more than £20 million.

A move finally materialized for Walcott, after a year of rumors, in a season where he has only made six Premier League appearances. The 28-year-old leaves Arsenal after nearly 12 years in North London and becomes Everton's second signing of the season after Besiktas' Cenk Tosun. "I’m very ambitious and I’ve come here because I want the Club to push to the next level," Walcott said. "And with the players that have come in, I feel like the next level can be reached. I’m very excited to be starting a new chapter and I felt this was the right place for me to be. The manager is very ambitious and I feel like the Club is going in the right direction."

Andy Carroll could miss out again this weekend as the injury-plagued striker battles to recover from his latest setback.

Carroll has managed just five minutes of competitive football since his two-goal haul on January 02 after suffering an ankle injury. The 29-year-old, who has reportedly piqued the interest of Chelsea, could be the catalyst in a transfer merry-go-round with Michy Batshuayi potentially moving to La Liga side Sevilla. However, David Moyes insists he wants to add bodies to his depleted side, "not lose players from my squad," amid growing speculation of a £20 million bid. "No, at the moment," said the Hammers manager when asked if Carroll has given any indication that he wants to leave the club. "Andy's got an ankle injury which had an injection in it about 10 days ago, so we're hoping that that will settle quite quickly, and he'll be back out training shortly." Wes Ham will be hoping to have Javier Hernandez is back amongst the ranks after he missed the FA Cup win over Shrewsbury because of flu.

There was a positive update from the Tottenham training ground this week with the news that defender Toby Alderweireld is close to re-joining his teammates.

The Belgium international has been sidelined since suffering a serious hamstring injury against Real Madrid in the Champions league on November 01, but respected journalist Kristof Terreur suggests Alderweireld is bang schedule for a return to action in early February. "Toby Alderweireld (hamstrings) is recovering well," read his Twitter post. "Still training individually, but expected to join up with the squad next week. He’ll be fully fit in February." His return may prompt a slight change in formation with Spurs reverting to three at the back – alongside Davidson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen – instead of their more familiar 4-2-3-1. Following a disappointing November, which included a draw with West Brom and defeats to Leicester City and north London rivals Arsenal, Pochettino’s men have lost just once [to champions elect Manchester City] to keep the Lilywhites very much in the hunt for a Top Four finish.

Everton is set to make another winter signing with Theo Walcott expected to leave Arsenal this week.

The clubs have reportedly reached a £20 million agreement that would send Walcott to Merseyside after more than a decade with the Gunners. The winger arrived at the club's training grounds on Tuesday for a medical after a week of negotiations. Still, manager Sam Allardyce said he won't count his chickens before the deal is fully confirmed: "I don't get optimistic otherwise I get disappointed so we will wait and see," Allardyce said. I will be very excited and enthused once somebody, if it is not Theo then somebody else, has signed on the dotted line. In this window you don't get too optimistic because so many things can happen in a short space of time."

West Ham manager David Moyes said Chelsea has yet to make an official move for forward Andy Carroll.

The former Newcastle and Liverpool striker has been linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks as the Blues look to bolster their depth at forward, but Moyes confirmed that there is nothing concrete as the club looks to hold onto its No. 1 striker: "They have not made contact with me, so if they have made contact with someone else I don't know about it. At the moment Andy Carroll is one of my squad, I want to add to the squad, not lose players. I know nothing about it. There have been a lot of rumours regarding a loan but as far as I know it has never officially come from Chelsea. I am not keen to lose any players, I am more keen to add to the squad."

Jesus Gamez is nearing a return to action after stepping up his recovery from ankle surgery.

The Spaniard has struggled since his arrival from Atletico Madrid two seasons ago starting just three league games, while his time on Tyneside has been hampered by injury. The latest being a setback in November, which left Gamez requiring surgery to remedy an ankle complaint. However, the 32-year-old is not far away of being in contention having stepped up his recovery over the past few days. "We have Florian Lejeune, Jesus Gamez and Aleksandar Mitrovic all running," said Rafa Benitez. "Mitro is getting close and we will see [but] Gamez will take more time." This weekend will come too soon for the injured trio, however, with Newcastle due to travel to either Chelsea or Norwich in the fourth round of the FA Cup at the end of this month, the United boss may take the opportunity to give some of his fringe players some much-needed minutes ahead of the relegation dogfight.

Antonio Conte confirms Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas will miss the FA Cup replay against Norwich City at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea captain was forced off during the 0-0 draw with Leicester on Saturday, and although Cahill won’t be available tomorrow, he could be ready for the early kick-off this weekend. "He has a muscular problem, but not a serious problem," said Conte. "I don’t know how much time he needs to recover but the doctor told me it’s not serious." While David Luiz is expected to get a run out in the cup, the Chelsea boss may opt for Andreas Christensen in the league, if the England international remains sidelined. Elsewhere, Danny Drinkwater is the likely benefactor of Farbegas’ injury [on Wednesday], although a recall for Brazilian Willian at Brighton could be the call should the Spaniard fail to recover. Ross Barkley’s involvement has been delayed as his registration was not completed in time for him to feature in the third-round.
