Liverpool will be boosted by the return of Lucas and Mamadou Sakho. The duo came through a return match with the U-21s and are returning to training.

Neither player is assured of walking right into the first team at the moment, but the options will please manager, Brendan Rodgers.

Burnley turned in a positive defensive display and went toe to toe with Manchester United to earn their first point of the season in a 0-0 final.

Burnley are the latest to take advantage of Manchester United's "transitional period" by keeping their mistakes at a minimum and getting their share of attacking chances. Jones came closest, when he smashed the bar by way of a free kick. He would again challenge De Gea about a half hour in, but a lack of quality from the supporting attack kept Burnley from breaking through. Jones did show enough threat to creep into the fantasy radar as he currently costs just over 5m.

Angel Di Maria was thrust immediately into Manchester United's starting XI and showed some promising displays but United as a unit once again failed to impress both attacking and defending, settling for a 0-0 against Burnley.

United were actually lucky to come away with a point in this one as the newest savior tasked to successfully replace Sir Alex Ferguson, Louis van Gaal still waits for his first win in charge. Di Maria had stretches of brilliance but also looked understandably rough around the edges as he begins his career under van Gaal. Apologists for United's slow start will point out that Robin van Persie is still not up to speed and the likes of Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo have yet to show their influence, but at the end of the day, they played Burnley and this fixture should be earning them three points given the talent at their disposal. The Red Devils now have the international break to work toward a better league showing, but if they cannot easily dispose of QPR at Old Trafford in Week 4, you can officially hit the panic button.

Stephen Ireland will be held out of the Stoke City squad for Week 3 as he nurses a rib injury back to health.

Ireland wasn't likely to see a great deal of playing time with the arrivals of Steve Sidwell, Bojan Krkic, and Victor Moses to the midfield ranks but a rib injury will ensure that he doesn't figure in Week 3. It seems likely he'll be ready to return after the international break.

Jonny Evans returned to active duty against MK Dons this week and will likely eye a return to league action this weekend against Burnley

He isn't likely to put it on his resume given the embarrassing result but Jonny Evans is fit again and featured for Louis Van Gaal in the Capital One Cup this past week. With a central defense that featured little experience after Chris Smalling went out last weekend and Marcos Rojo still awaiting a work permit, Evans is likely to be welcomed back to the starting eleven this weekend as United search for a much-needed victory.

Sebastien Pocognoli has had a strong start to his West Brom career but he won't get to continue it in Week 3 with the right back out with a thigh injury.

He certainly isn't setting the world on fire but Sebastien Pocognoli has been a solid addition to a West Brom back line that needed a big renovation over the summer. As more of the projected starting group (Gareth McAuley and Cristian Gamboa) return to the line-up, Pocognoli will exit for at least one week.

A groin injury is set to keep US international Geoff Cameron out of the Stoke City squad for the Week 3 trip to Manchester City.

With transfer rumors and rumors of his falling down Mark Hughes' pecking order for playing time all swirling around him, Geoff Cameron will miss out on Week 3 with a groin injury. The American defender has been linked with multiple moves away from Stoke City in recent days so this weekend could be an interesting one for him but apparently nothing interesting will be happening on the pitch.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Adam Lallana will be in the squad for Liverpool when they travel to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham this weekend.

Rodgers went on further to say that the midfielder was still short of match fitness so you can rule out any chances of him starting. In fact, it is likely Lallana will not feature at all unless in an emergency situation as he is making a quicker-than-expected recovery from his knee injury.

Martin Skrtel joins a growing list of injured Liverpool defenders as he will need to be assessed over the next 48 hours before Brendan Rodgers can decide on his availability against Tottenham.

With a plethora of defenders heading into the season, Rodgers is finding himself quickly going from having a selection headache to now needing to piece together a healthy back line for Spurs. Should Skrtel miss out, Mamadou Sakho would most likely make his first start of the season and partner Dejan Lovren in the center of defense.

Tim Krul is worth considering for your goalkeeper position as Newcastle face Crystal Palace at home in Week 3.

The majority of you will own Thibaut Courtois at around £5million in the Yahoo game, and you certainly shouldn't be selling him at that price, but that doesn't mean the Chelsea keeper is a top pick in Week 3 with a tough away game at Everton. Newcastle are at home to a Crystal Palace side struggling to adapt to life after Tony Pulis, and the ever-reliable Krul can be picked up for a very reasonable £6million. A good alternative.
Aug 29 - 4:27 AM

Alan Hutton should be high on the list of defenders you're considering for Week 3 of the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game.

Many people had forgotten Hutton was still at Villa before his name showed up in the line-ups on opening day, but the Scotland defender has already started making up for lost time after rebuilding his relationship with Paul Lambert. He was excellent in the win at Stoke and followed that up with a man-of-the-match performance - and 16 fantasy points - against Newcastle, so should be considered for the home game against Hull.
Aug 29 - 4:29 AM

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is another defender with a great fixture in Week 3.

The most affordable Manchester City defender guaranteed to start (until new signing Eliaquim Mangala becomes a regular), Kompany has had a quiet beginning to the season from a fantasy stand-point, but Stoke at home could bring a clean sheet and the captain is a danger in the opponent's box when going up for set-pieces.
