James Chester's 54th minute own goal saw Hull City fall behind and ultimately lose in a controversy-filled match at Upton Park.

Hull City did well to fight back from a 1-0 first half deficit on the strength of a 49th minute Nikica Jelavic deflected goal. Unfortunately for Steve Bruce's men, James Chester's attempted clearance ended up in the back of the Hull City net for the final 2-1 score. Hull City were fighting uphill after Allan McGregor was sent off in the first half for taking down Mohamed Diame in the box. Mark Noble scored the ensuing penalty but Hull City equalized when Tom Huddlestone's free kick was directed home by Jelavic. The respite for Hull was short lived as Chester's miscue came a mere five minutes later.

In a match without the availability of a pure striker, Manchester City were able to find their scoring shoes in the second half, as a David Silva brace would grab the headlines in their tidy 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Going into the locker room at the half 0-0, the storyline looked to be how ineffective City were without a true striker as the versatile James Milner filled the role in a false nine. They plenty of possession and eight shots, but none were on target at the break. The dominance of possession would eventually undo the Palace defense though, as Silva opened the scoring early into the 2nd half, scoring off a deflection after being fed by Pablo Zabaleta. It was Silva again, this time firing home from a Aleksandar Kolarov cross. Yaya Toure would wrap up the 2nd half onslaught with a signature powerful surge that gave him his fourth goal in his last six league matches. Its off to West Brom on Boxing Day for the Sky Blues, who are at least temporarily level on points at the top of the table now with Chelsea.

James McArthur scored a goal but it looked to be wrongly deemed offside and that summed up a forgettable day for Crystal Palace as they were run over by Manchester City at the Etihad, 3-0.

Palace took a safe approach hoping City would not have their usual attack flowing minus a true striker in their XI and for the first 45 minutes, the plan was working. Though City had the lion's share of possession and took 8 first half shots to just one for the Eagles, Palace's shot was the only one that was on target. City began to click as the second half picked up and Palace found themselves down 2-0 in quick fashion. McArthur looked to have given them a fighting chance in the 68th minute though, when he scored from a Yannick Bolasie cross. The goal should have stood but it was adjudged offside. A bitter pill to swallow as the outcome may have been different, but in all likelihood, City were going to get three points from this regardless.

Joe Hart has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at Manchester City until the end of the 2018-19 season.

The England goalkeeper, 27, joins Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Aleksandar Kolarov, Samir Nasri and David Silva in signing a new contract with the club in 2014. Hart told the club’s official website: "I’m really happy, I’ve been here a long time now and I want to keep that going. Hart joined the club from Shrewsbury Town and has made 276 appearances since.

Radamel Falcao is reportedly nearing full fitness for the first time since arriving at Old Trafford.

Falcao was surprisingly left on the bench last weekend with James Wilson getting the start opposite Robin van Persie. It's hard to imagine that Falcao won't get at least a couple of starts over the next eleven days given the tight grouping of fixtures coming up. With United playing one of the tea time fixtures in Week 17 we won't get to see their starting line-up before Yahoo and PL.com lock down transfers so you'll be taking a risk having Falcao in your starting line-up for sure.

Theo Walcott, out with a groin injury since early November, faces a late fitness test in his efforts to return to the line-up for the second time this season.

It seems unlikely with Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez available that Walcott would be risked as anything more than a late-match change/infusion of pace substitute. It is more likely that he will return to the line-up in a lower pressure match like the Boxing Day visit of Queens Park Rangers.

Stoke's best summer signing looks like he will shake off the hip injury that caused him to be withdrawn early from the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

Bojan trained all week according to reports and should continue to be a guaranteed starter. With Chelsea the opposition, there is a reasonable case for rotating Bojan out of your personal fantasy line-up regardless of his health.

Marouane Fellaini will miss Manchester United's trip to Aston Villa due to an illness.

There weren't a lot of details given about the severity of Fellaini's illness in Manchester United's press conference but he is definitely out for Week 17 and may or may not be ready for United's Boxing Day match with Newcastle or the trip to Spurs on the 28th. Not the ideal time to pick up an illness or minor knock that would ordinarily only cause you to miss a single match. In the blink of an eye each team will have four matches between the 20th of December and the 1st of January.

Angel Di Maria could be set to return for Manchester United's Week 17 match against Aston Villa after the better part of a month out with a hamstring injury.

Given the quality (or lack thereof) of the opposition, it seems likely that Di Maria will return to the squad as a reserve unless he is 100% fit. The fact that his status is "could feature" leads me to believe he isn't 100% fit. I know I won't be starting him in any of my leagues but I will be watching closely to see how he does in advance of United's upcoming matches.

Manchester United's season-long defensive injury crisis continues with Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling replacing Phil Jones and Jonny Evans on the injured list.

Manchester United will likely line up Phil Jones and Jonny Evans as their center backs for the Week 17 trip to the Midlands. Louis Van Gaal hasn't yet had his full compliment of central defenders available so we don't really know who his first choice defenders would be at any position.

West Ham's Diafra Sakho comes highly recommended for Week 17.

West Ham have the pick of the Week Seventeen fixtures as they face rock-bottom Leicester City at Upton Park, so we are recommending striker Diafra Sakho - back to full fitness - as one of the top fantasy picks for Week Seventeen. Sakho is in the running for transfer bargain of the season having hit six goals in nine starts since his £4million move from Ligue 2 side Metz, and the Senegalese star has already built up a good understanding with Andy Carroll to form what could prove a devastating striker partnership as the campaign progresses.

Tottenham's Christian Eriksen is one of the top midfield picks for Week 17 as he comes up against Burnley.

Christian Eriksen is Tottenham’s star man right now, with the Danish international producing numerous match-winning moments of quality that have been the difference in tight matches. Eriksen is taking corners and free-kicks and is the top scoring Premier League midfielder in 2014 with six goals for the season alone, a terrific return for a wide player. Along with Harry Kane he has been keeping Spurs in the hunt for a Champions League spot and we’re tipping him to inspire his side to a rare White Hart Lane victory as Burnley come to town.
