Liverpool have made an initial 6.5 million pound bid for Sunderland's Simon Mignolet.

While it seems like this transfer is moving ahead, there are doubts. Sunderland are holding out for more money, and there are still other clubs interested in Mignolet (Arsenal, for instance). Meanwhile at Anfield, Reina's status is unclear and may still hinge on Victor Valedes' "will he or won't he" routine at Barcelona.

Wes Morgan finished the season strong and ended up as the third best fantasy defender in the Yahoo! Premier League fantasy game.

Morgan was spectacular down the stretch, leading Leicester City to a number of important victories to avoid relegation. He finishes the season with 10 clean sheets, 97 passes intercepted, and 46 blocked shots on the way to 316 fantasy points. Morgan will be fairly cheap next season as expectations of a Leicester City defender will always be low, but he can be a top five defender in formats that reward phantom points. Draft him with confidence next season.

Cesc Fabregas was impressive in his first season with Chelsea and was a solid fantasy pick for most of the season.

Fabregas finished seventh in scoring amongst midfielders in the Yahoo! fantasy game. He played in 34 matches and had 18 assists amongst a number of other stats that added up to 306 fantasy points. Fabregas should be expected to continue his solid performance into next season and he has every chance at finishing in the top five amongst midfielders if he can play in all 38 matches next season. It's worth noting his three-match ban was reduced to one match and he'll be available to start the season in gameweek 1.

Eden Hazard finished the Premier League season as the highest scoring midfielder in the Yahoo! fantasy game.

Hazard was spectacular the entire season, playing in every single match. He was expensive for most of the year but was well worth his price week in and week out. On top of 14 goals and 9 assists, Hazard won 113 fouls and had 33 shots on target, leading his way to 439 fantasy points on the season. The Belgian midfielder will be a top three fantasy pick next year in almost any format.

Unsurprisingly Manchester United have confirmed that they will not be taking up their option to retain the services of Colombian striker Radamel Falcao following his season long loan spell.

Falcao was absent for the final game of the season against Hull with Louis van Gaal confirming post-match that the player had picked up a minor injury during Saturdays’ last training session. However in truth, Falcao has never looked settled - barring a brief run of matches over Christmas - the forward has been in / out of the side and his absence went largely unnoticed. Falcao struggled to command regular game time which is what the player needed coming off the back of a serious – ACL – knee injury. The Colombian will now focus his efforts on the upcoming Copa America before hopefully securing a deal elsewhere – ideally within the Premier League or La Liga – as Falcao looks surplus to requirements at his parent club Monaco.

Sundays’ final day win over Swansea City was bitter / sweet for manager Alan Pardew as victory secured the Eagles’ highest ever BPL points tally thanks to a Marouane Chamakh goal before the striker was replaced because of injury.

Chamakh suffered his fourth hamstring strain of an injury affected season – just 15 starts completing 90 minutes on only 5 occasions – and this latest setback is cause for concern as the club assess their options during the close season. Alan Pardew will be keen to stamp his own mark on Palace having joined in January and with funds available discussions will now take place to help identify key areas for investment. Despite a strong finish by Yannick Bolasie, Wilfried Zaha and Glenn Murray Palace are lacking a top quality centre-forward. With Yaya Sanogo returning to Arsenal and Dwight Gayle plus Fraizer Campbell failing to convince, a striker must feature prminently on the Palace wish list if Pardew hopes to build upon this season’s success.

Newcastle United were able to avoid relegation on the final day of the season with a 2-0 win over West Ham United.

It was a nervy atmosphere at St. James' Park as expected, and though the Magpies showed themselves better in the opening half of the match than they had in quite a long time, anxiety continued to grow around the stadium as they went into the locker room at halftime with the game still 0-0. The breakthrough came in the 54th minute, when Jonas Gutierrez sent a cross toward the Hammers' far post and found Moussa Sissoko, who headed it in strongly. The job was not finished though, as a second goal was needed to truly feel safe and it came courtesy of Gutierrez who sent a strike that was helped by a deflection into the net for his first goal in over two years. Newcastle ended February looking like they would only need one more positive result to avoid relegation. Though there is plenty of issues with the club, they can rest easy now that they got the job done in time.

Loic Remy scored twice to give Chelsea one last win in the Premier League this season, this time a 3-1 win over Sunderland.

The Blues finish the season with 87 points and an eight point lead on Manchester City but it could have easily been more if they didn't get complacent in the last couple of weeks. Loic Remy showed he possesses the quality needed at the top level as he's done all season when filling in for the injured Diego Costa. Costa also scored today and the Chelsea striker force goes into next season healthy and in form. The Blues are already the favorites for the title next season and Costa and Remy will be big part of their run.

Tottenham qualified for the group stage of the Europa League after finishing fifth in the Premier League with a confident win at Everton.

Spurs have been lacklustre over the past two months, but this was an assured performance and a deserved victory over a disappointing Everton side. Kane scored his 31st goal of the season, equalling a Premier League club record, after he headed in Eric Dier's first-half cross. The Toffees offered little, with Seamus Coleman's angled effort the closest they came to equalising. Spurs end the season in a respectable 5th position in Mauricio Pochettino's first campaign in charge and go in to next season's Europa League proper, while Roberto Martinez will reflect on a poor year, ending in 11th.

Frank Lampard scored for Manchester City in his final Premier League appearance as Southampton missed out on a top-six finish, losing 2-0.

Classic Lampard. The veteran finished the season as he's spent his career - scoring goals. The 35-year old, who is set to play for New York City FC in the USA, side-footed home from 10 yards to give the hosts a first-half lead. Sergio Aguero doubled that advantage with a close-range header into an empty net, having seen three earlier efforts saved by Kelvin Davis. Victory for City saw them consolidate second place in the table, ending the season eight points behind champions Chelsea. Ronald Koeman's Saints must now hope Arsenal can defeat Aston Villa in next weekend's FA Cup final to help them earn a place in next season's Europa League.

Petr Cech played his last match for Chelsea as the Blues lifted the title in the last match of the season.

Cech is heavily rumored to be leaving the Blues this summer in search of playing time and this will likely end up being his last match in a Chelsea jersey. If he ends up at another Premier League team, Cech will be a fantastic Premier League option next season as he has shown this year that he is still in top form. At Chelsea, it will be Thibaut Courtois who is the future between the posts and he will be the top fantasy goalkeeper choice for years to come.

Crystal Palace ended their season on a winning note, as a goal by Marouane Chamakh would make the difference in a 1-0 win over Swansea City.

It was rather even between the two sides in most statistical categories like possession and chances, but it was Palace who were able to break through for the game's lone goal. It came in the 57th minute when Jason Puncheon sent a free kick into the box, Scott Dann headed it across the face of goal, and Chamakh was able to control it with his chest and smash it home. Swansea didn't have a strong midfield and it made it easy on the Eagles defense. After a four game losing streak that ended earlier in the month, Palace finish strong (10th place) with wins over Liverpool and Swansea.
