Saido Berahino's goal was enough to win West Bromwich Albion a valuable three points to separate them from the relegation zone.

Berahino scored early in the game and West Brom were able to keep their 1-0 lead until the end. The win takes West Brom five points ahead of the relegation zone with just two matches left in the season, making relegation almost impossible. West Ham suffered yet another loss but are six points ahead of the relegation zone and also very likely to stay up. The two teams have to improve drastically if they wish to improve upon their standings next season as both squads are very limited on talent.

Everton lost their third straight league match, a first under the reign of Roberto Martinez, as a lack of confidence and subsequent errors cost them in a 2-3 loss to Newcastle United.

Newcastle arrived to Goodison struggling with three losses on the trot and the atmosphere pre-match was one of optimism for the Toffees that today would mark a positive turn in their season. Instead, they were booed off of their ground at the final whistle. The day began perfect, as Arouna Kone put them ahead on five minutes after finishing from a Seamus Coleman cross. Then the wheels began to fall off as Newcastle scored three unanswered. Kevin Mirallas would score from a precision pass by Leighton Baines to give the Toffees a chance late, but it was not enough. Roberto Martinez made seven changes to his side from Boxing Day, more than any other manager. He probably wishes he could make twelve changes to his XI if it were possible.

Leicester got their first win since September with the help of a Riyah Mahrez goal in the first half.

Mahrez scored a curling shot from outside the box that ended up being the match-winning goal. The game was not short of drama, as both Paul Konchesky and Stephen Quinn were both sent off near the end of the match. This is Leicester's second game in a row where they've played well away from home and they seem to be gaining some momentum.

Manchester City blew the chance to close the gap on leaders Chelsea as they threw away a two goal half-time lead to draw 2-2 with Burnley.

Chance blown by Manchester City, as they threw away the chance to move within one point of Chelsea. The reigning champions cruised through the first half thanks to goals by David Silva and a magnificent strike by Fernandinho gave them a 2-0 half time lead, but it all changed in the second half as Burnley fought back in impressive style. George Boyd pulled one back for the Clarets when he turned home Danny Ings' shot (although Boyd was clearly in an offside position) before Ashley Barnes reacted quickest in a crowded penalty area to smash home a loose ball to make it 2-2. City were shaken as Burnley pushed for a winner, but the game ended in a draw, a fair result after a ding-dong battle. Manuel Pellegrini's men remain second, three points off the top, while Burnley remain second from bottom but only goal difference away from safety.

Queens Park Rangers vs Crystal Palace ends 0-0 after a sloppy affair from both sides.

Steven Caulker had a chance cleared off the line for QPR and Jason Puncheon had a decent stoppage time effort for Palace, but beyond that there were very from chances from either team Sunday at Loftus Road. The quick turnaround from Boxing Day seemed to take a little bit out of the players both physically and mentally. Palace (16 points) are winless in their last seven and remain in the relegation zone while QPR now sit three spots above them with 18 points. Rangers battle Swansea at home on New Year's day and Palace travel to Aston Villa.

Aston Villa held on to secure a 0-0 draw against Sunderland after playing the majority of the second half with 10 men following Fabian Delph's dismissal.

Bore-draw alert! This was a poor match which had just a single shot in target in a forgettable first half. The game improved after Delph was sent off for a late lunge on Jordi Gomez and both sides missed chances including Gomez hitting the post, but a draw was a fair result in the end. Villa remain in 13th while Sunderland sit one place below them, four points above the drop zone.

Chelsea midfielder Oscar missed the gameweek 19 match against Southampton due to an illness.

We had hyped up Oscar as a low-chance of being rested for this week and it backfired by him missing out completely due to an unannounced illness. Jose Mourinho brought the news in the post-match conference but didn't specify a return for the Brazilian. Oscar has a good chance of returning for New Year's Day but we would check back before the deadline for any updates.

Santi Cazorla reversed the flow of play by drawing a penalty that saw Arsenal take a 1-0 lead on the way to a 2-1 win at Upton Park.

Arsenal were decidedly second best for most of the first half but after a controversial decision to disallow an Alex Song goal Santi Cazorla drew and converted a penalty in the 41st minute. Danny Welbeck scored an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain cross three minutes later for a 2-0 halftime lead that in no way reflected the action. The match got renewed life early in the second half when Cheikhou Kouyaté scored for the Hammers in the 54th and remained entertaining throughout. The win was huge for Arsenal as Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Southampton, West Ham, and Spurs all dropped points around them in the table.

Sam Alardyce will feel aggrieved that Alex Song's early strike was ruled out for three offside West Ham players interfering with the Arsenal keeper.

Given that the final result was a 2-1 loss, the disallowed goal was key to the final result. That it also would have been the opener that allowed West Ham to capitalize on huge early pressure made the fact that the goal was disallowed even more frustrating to the West Ham manager. West Ham played well enough to deserve at least a point if not three but Arsenal made the most of their chances while West Ham were unlucky.

Mame Biram Diouf scored a second half brace for the only two goal in Stoke City's second win in three days as they dispatched the Baggies 2-0 at the Britannia on the final Sunday of 2014.

The win sees Mark Hughes' side in the top half of the table pending Newcastle's result against Everton. For the first time in recent memory, Bojan wasn't the key man as Erik Pieters and Marko Arnautovic provided the assists for Diouf who scored in the 51st and 66th minutes. Statistically speaking, the match was pretty much even with Stoke City being the more ruthless capitalizing on two of their three shots on target while Albion failed to convert on any of their four shots on target.

Eden Hazard was brilliant in Chelsea's 1-1 draw against Southampton.

The Chelsea winger was causing havoc for the Southampton defense the entire match and came up with a goal to give Chelsea the 1-1 draw. It was Sadio Mane that opened up the scoring on a breakaway in the first half, but Chelsea rebounded well and pushed Southampton. Hazard then received a long ball, beat two defenders, and scored right before halftime. The second-half was scoreless and both teams earned a point. Chelsea are now just four points ahead of Manchester City, but with a likely win for City today, their lead will be cut down to one. Buckle up, the title race is in full effect.

Morgan Schneiderlin was sent off during Southampton's match against Chelsea for getting a second yellow card.

Schneiderlin brought down Cesc Fabregas on a breakaway towards the end of the match in what was a clear second yellow card. The midfielder will miss Southampton's next match, which is against Arsenal on New Year's Day. Victor Wanyama or Harrison Reed will likely replace him in the starting XI, but his energy and motor will be missed.
