Javier Hernandez came on as a substitute in Mexico's 1-0 win over Cameroon in the second game of the World Cup.

Mexico was robbed by the referees early in the game by having two goals wrongly disallowed for offsides. The decisions sparked much criticism as referees have now made questionable decisions in both World Cup matches so far. Giovanni dos Santos was spectacular for Mexico and created danger from start to finish. He was the best player on the pitch and will have to continue playing like this if Mexico want to advance. Chelsea's Samuel Eto'o failed to impress fans, missing his only chance in the first half of the match. The three points here were crucial for Mexico as they have to face Brazil and Croatia next.

Antonio Conte has revealed Alvaro Morata will be in the squad for Chelsea's Champions League Group C match against Roma on Wednesday.

Morata missed the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend after he suffered a hamstring injury against Manchester City shortly before the international. Reports had suggested the Spain international could be out for 4-6 weeks, but his recovery has been much faster than initially anticipated. The 24-year-old took part in full training with the rest of the squad on Tuesday and will be available for the clash against Roma at Stamford Bridge. Considering Michy Batshuayi was rendered ineffective in Saturday's defeat to Palace, it's possible Morata could return to the starting XI: "I'm not taking a risk if I decide for Morata to play against Roma," Conte said in his pre-match press conference. Meanwhile, Chelsea will be without Victor Moses (hamstring), N'Golo Kante (hamstring) and Danny Drinkwater (calf).

Craig Shakespeare has been sacked as manager of Leicester City just four months being given the job on a permanent basis.

Shakespeare succeeded Claudio Ranieri as caretaker manager last season and led the club out of the relegation zone and to a 12th-place finish. But less than 24 hours after a 1-1 draw with West Brom, the club decided to part with the 53-year-old. Monday's 1-1 draw with the Baggies dropped the Foxes into the bottom three and marked a run of sixth matches without a win - the same as when Ranieri was relived of his duties nine months ago. Shakespeare, who signed a three-year deal in June, leaves with Leicester having won just once in eight league matches this season. Michael Appleton, who had been working as Shakespeare's assistant, will take caretaker charge for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Swansea City. Among the potential replacement candidates being tipped are Sam Allardyce, Wales manager Chris Coleman, David Moyes and Roberto Mancini.

Jose Mourinho provided an unexpected injury update ahead of the Champions League tie against Benfica.

Marcos Rojo was part of the travelling squad to Portugal, but while the United boss revealed in an exclusive interview with MUTV, that the defender would not be included in the match day squad "he is coming with the team to train," Mourinho did go onto say that in "probably two weeks, Marcos is ready to play," which is a huge bonus given that his initial timeline was early 2018. The Argentina international was considered surplus to requirements at one stage, however he performances at centre-back earned him a regular starting spot in 2016/17 before he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the Europa League back in April. The return of Rojo next month will help to bolster the ranks as the team head into a busy period with 13 games scheduled during the six weeks leading up-to Christmas / New Year.

The illness that caused Ben Davies to miss Tottenham's win over AFC Bournemouth this past weekend will keep him out of this week's Champions League tie with Real Madrid.

The timing of Davies' absence is intriguing, as Danny Rose has been working toward a return to action, has been training ahead of Madrid and is in the squad to make his first appearance since last season. However, Spurs are up against one of the best clubs in the world and one wonders if Mauricio Pochettino would want to use this type of matchup to reintroduce the England international. He could opt for Heung-min Son as a wingback as he did over the weekend. Either way, Rose's return calls into question how Tottenham's defense will line up going forward, as Davies has been fantastic thus far.

Nacer Chadli returned to the West Brom starting line-up with a bang as he scored from a set piece for Albion's only goal in their 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium on Monday.

Chadli, who has been suffering from a back issue since the summer, finally returned to the starting line-up and the shuffle yielded results for Tony Pulis. Chadli definitely showed some rust after his long layoff but he also showed his quality with a free kick that wrong-footed Kasper Schmeichel. It wasn't enough for the Baggies as Riyad Mahrez equalized past Boaz Myhill who was deputizing for an injured Ben Foster. Despite the result, look for Chadli's stock to rise as he rounds back into form.

Riyad Mahrez came back from a weekend out of the starting line-up with a goal that saved a point at home for Craig Shakespeare's side.

After earning plaudits for his August efforts in the face of transfer rumors, Riyad Mahrez's impact waned through September eventually earning him a place on the bench in Week 7. Craig Shakespeare restored Mahrez to the starting line-up after the international break and he was rewarded with a much-needed equalizer from the Algerian international. It could have been two as Mahrez blazed a solid opportunity high in the early minutes of the second half with the match still scoreless. He eventually came good and repaid his manager's renewed faith with a vital point.

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero is expected to return to the starting lineup on Tuesday in Champions League.

The Argentine forward was on the bench in the club's 7-2 rout of Stoke City on Saturday, but was kept off the pitch as he recovers from a broken rib injury suffered in a car accident before Gameweek 7. However, Aguero looks set to be recalled into the starting lineup for the club's Champions League group stage match against Serie A-leading Napoli. Said manager Pep Guardiola: "Day by day he is much better, yesterday (Sunday) he made an amazing training session. The day before Stoke was good but not perfect - yesterday was really good."

Tottenham will have to do without starting left-back Ben Davies for the second straight match due to illness.

The Welsh international missed the club's 1-0 win against Bournemouth on Saturday after being a late scratch due to illness and will now miss the club's Champions League showdown with Real Madrid on Tuesday. However, manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that defender Danny Rose is set to be in the team after recovering from a knee injury suffered in January. "Danny Rose will be on the bench – that’s important, maybe he’s not fit to play from the beginning but to help the team...Mousa Dembele is here as well. Dele wanted to come and stay with the team. We have injured players like (Erik) Lamela, still recovering and (Victor) Wanyama back at the training ground."

Huddersfield Town midfielder Philip Billing will undergo a scan on Monday after suffering an ankle injury in the 2-0 defeat by Swansea City on Saturday.

The Denmark Under-21 started alongside Jonathan Hogg in midfield with regular Aaron Mooy on the bench, but was carried off on a stretcher at the Liberty Stadium after he fell to the ground clutching his right leg at the hour mark. "It was a twist on his ankle and it looks serious," said Town manager David Wagner after the match. "I think we will know more on Monday after we have made a scan." Mooy will be expected to return to the starting XI when the Terriers face Manchester United at home on Saturday, while Danny Williams, who replaced Billing at the weekend, could be in line for more playing time should the scan reveal significant damage.

Andy Carroll is set to be fined by West Ham after he was sent off following successive booking in as many minutes in the 1-1 draw at Burnley on Saturday.

The striker picked up two bookings inside 99 seconds at Turf Moor, both for leaping and leading with his elbows on center-backs James Tarkowksi and Ben Mee, forcing the Hammers to play with ten men for most of the match. Carroll will be docked a five-figure fine by West Ham, as it is club policy to fine players who are sent off, and miss next weekend's match against Brighton & Hove Albion. Javier Hernandez will lead the line against Brighton, with Diafra Sakho the likely option off the bench. However, Carroll is lucky to have avoid a longer ban, especially considering he could have been issued a straight red for his second booking. "For a player of Andy’s experience and everything, basically you can’t do that," said manager Slaven Bilic after the match. "The first one can happen but the second one cannot happen, especially when you play away, then you are asking for trouble and it was just an unbelievably bad decision to even go there."

Newcastle left St Mary’s with a point on Sunday but the draw was slightly marred due to an injury which meant the Tynesiders had to see out the game with only ten fit players.

Speaking after the match, Rafa Benitez revealed that Dwight Gayle "had a little problem with his calf" which will require a scan on Monday. Last season’s top scorer entered the fray with a quarter of the game remaining in the hope of stretching a tiring Saints defence, but following a lung bursting charge on 80 minutes, Gayle felt his calf stiffen and he was forced to drop a little deeper to help close out the match under increasing pressure. The setback is yet more bad news for the striker who was the subject of intense transfer speculation towards the end of the summer window. Gayle has only started twice in the Premier League this season and is becoming more and more frustrated with his bit part role having fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Joselu.
