Everton have been linked with a variety of wide players this summer and appear to be getting close to landing one in Spartak Moscow player Aiden McGeady.

McGeady's name has been around Premier League transfer rumors seemingly forever but one has to wonder at his potential at this point. At 27 years old he's no longer a young prospect with upside and his record in Russia's decidedly second tier domestic competition is 10 goals and 20 assists in 60 matches over 3 seasons. Not exactly the sort of player who captures the imagination of supporters looking for reassurances that Roberto Martinez will be able to keep David Moyes' strong track record going. The one potential upside is that it would free up Seamus Coleman to play at right back full time.

N'Golo Kante has seen his hard work recognized across the league after taking home the PFA Player of the Year award.

The French international has enjoyed a stellar last two seasons as he looks to become the first player since Eric Cantona to win consecutive Premier League titles with two different clubs. After arriving in a £32 million move from Leicester City, Kante has been the engine of a revamped Chelsea side under manager Antonio Conte. Said Kante: "To be chosen by the players to be player of the year means a lot to me. It means the world to be chosen and it's been two beautiful seasons, one with Leicester, and we are in good form with Chelsea. To be player of the year, it's a great honour."

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has added another PFA Young Player of the Year award to his growing trophy case.

The emerging superstar has seen no signs of a sophomore slump, recording 16 league goals and seven assists for second-place Spurs this season after winning the award last season since arriving from MK Dons. And at 21 years old, they may as well name the trophy after Alli with three more years of eligibility for the Young Players Award, which saw him beat out Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku among others. "I'm extremely proud. It's a great honour for me - obviously the second year in a row - but I've still got a lot to do, I've got to keep working hard. I've got to keep improving."

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is hopeful that he will be fit for selection before the end of the season.

The Spaniard underwent surgery on a groin injury in March, and manager Jose Mourinho had ruled him out for the remainder of the season. However, in his weekly blog, Mata posted a more upbeat prognosis, revealing that he will be back with the team soon: "But the truth is I’m feeling much better now and I hope to be back with the team soon, to try to help in the last spell of the season. I hope so, because that’s all I want: being always available to help and to contribute as much as I can, both on and off the pitch," he explained. This will come as welcome news to Man Utd, who are struggling with a mounting injury list as they continue to fight on two fronts for Champions League qualification.

Manchester United manager José Mourinho has stated that he will rotate his side again for Thursday's Manchester derby.

United's squad is depleted from injuries and struggling with fatigue, according to Mourinho, which means he is forced to spread out the game time across his squad. Hence, he made eight changes last weekend for the win over Burnley after the victory over Anderlecht three days previously in the Europa League. Eric Bailly is the only Man Utd player to have completed both games. Mourinho emphasised that United are aiming to win the Europa League, and he views rotation as to achieving that feat: ""We cannot give the club the Premier League, we have a 25 per cent chance to win the Europa League and we have to put everything on it... So I will rotate players again, I will give rest to some players again and let's see what we can do.

Southampton will have Spanish defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu available for their match against Chelsea on Tuesday.

Romeu, 25, has been hugely important to Southampton's defensive strength this season in spite of losing Jose Fonte to West Ham and Virgil Van Dijk to injury. He has been very effective in controlling the space in front of the back four, making tackles and interceptions at a higher rate than any of his teammates. Romeu will presumably retake his place in the starting XI on Tuesday when the Saints visit Stamford Bridge after serving a two match suspension for accumulating ten yellow cards this season. His manager has lauded him in his pre-match press conference, comparing him to PL Player of the Season N'Golo Kanté: ""I think he’s not far off Kante," Puel said. "If we see the quality of his games since the beginning of the season, for me, he [Romeu] is not far off Kante because he’s very consistent and every game he gives good performances, with consistency and quality."

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was the man of the match as Arsenal beat Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley to advance to the FA Cup final.

Arsenal started slowly against Manchester City as Pep Guardiola's men had the better of the possession and chances in the first half. As Arsenal tried to assert themselves it was Oxlade-Chamberlain, switching between the center of the park and a right wingback role, who was their brightest performer. After City went up 1-0 on a lightning-fast breakout it was Oxlade-Chamberlain who got them back in it with an excellent cross that found Nacho Monreal whose odd man rush saw him unmarked in the penalty area. While The Ox had been substituted by the time Alexis Sanchez pounced on a loose ball in the six yard box for the winner, it was Oxlade-Chamberlain who stood out the most for the Gunners as they booked their third FA Cup finals appearance in the past four seasons.

There was nothing Burnley could do against an in-form Manchester United in a 2-0 loss to the Red Devils on Sunday.

Despite facing a Manchester United defense down three starters, one that has played three games in the last seven days, Burnley couldn't even manage a shot on target against Jose Mourinho's stalwart side. The Clarets have only one win in their last 10 Premier League matches, but they still kept their distance with a five-point lead over the bottom three. Defender Ben Mee left the match at half-time with an injury while striker Daniel Agyei came on late as Sean Dyche looks to get the youngster more playing time as he enters the final year of his contract with rumors linking him to Everton.

Burnley's penchant for results at home hit a wall today, as they conceded two unanswered goals to Manchester United in a 0-2 final.

The match began in typical Turf Moor style, with Tom Heaton making a couple of big saves in the first 20 minutes while the Claret attack were creating chances, mainly by Robbie Brady, who delivered several crosses over the contest. Andre Gray look the likeliest to finish one of those chances, but the Clarets failed to find an end product. Meanwhile, the fortress that is Turf Moor was penetrated, first on a swift counter-attack and then a second goal was conceded after a loose ball in front of Heaton was smashed in by Wayne Rooney. That put the match out of reach as United were in cruise control throughout the second half. Five points above relegation, one imagines Burnley may need at least one more positive result in their final four matches.

It's difficult to imagine Manchester United this season without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but a familiar face helped to fill his shoes.

In a 2-0 win against Burnley, Wayne Rooney made a surprise cameo appearance in the starting lineup after only just returning from a month sidelined by various injuries to his aging ankle, and the Manchester United captain reminded fans that he can still deliver with a goal in the 39th minute, pouncing on a saved shot from Anthony Martial for his third goal of the season. But it was Martial who stole the spotlight, scoring a goal and recording an assist after also returning to the starting lineup for Marcus Rashford, who started and played 120 minutes on Thursday in Europa League.

Manchester United close the gap to one point between themselves and crosstown rivals Manchester City for the coveted fourth spot in the table after a comprehensive 0-2 win over Burnley.

The two sides traded blows over the first twenty minutes, with United having the edge in the middle of the pitch. After a couple of attempts were stopped by Tom Heaton, United broke through on 21 minutes, when Ander Herrera led a counter attack, picking out Anthony Martial who slotted home for just his fourth league goal of the campaign. The Red Devis then doubled their lead before halftime, with Wayne Rooney smashing in a loose ball after Martial initially delivered a shot on target. United focused on error-free football and protecting their lead in the second half, which they did successfully. The stage is now set for a huge Manchester derby on Thursday night.

The gap between Stoke City and relegation-zoned Swansea City shrunk this afternoon, as a missed penalty by Marko Arnautovic was the defining moment in a 2-0 loss.

The biggest news of the day for Stoke was the return of Jack Butland, but it was clear the keeper was not completely comfortable, spilling the ball a couple of times, but he did make a class save in the second half, looking the Butland of old. The Potters gave up an early goal though and offered little in terms of attack, with Saido Berahino wasting a golden chance just before halftime. Still, Stoke had a chance to get a result, as a foul on Xherdan Shaqiri in the box set up a penalty kick for Arnautovic. The Austrian international blasted it into Southern Wales sky and, less than a minute later, the Swans doubled their lead, which put the game away. Stoke are still firmly in midtable but may be running out of reasons to play with motivation.
