Greece found lighting in a bottle in the waning seconds of a 1-1 match they had to win when they scored from the spot and are now moving on to the Round of 16 in a 2-1 thriller.

It was veteran Georgios Samaras who stepped up to convert the pen and hand Greece perhaps the biggest moment in their country's history, though the foul that gave them the chance could be argued as undeserved. Still, it is a monumental achievement for their program and though Costa Rica has shown themselves well thus far, they have to feel pretty good about getting them as their Round of 16 opponent. Kostas Mitroglou remained on the bench throughout the match and his chances of starting against Costa Rica look pretty slim.

Sergio Aguero's hat-trick - including two goals in the last five minutes - kept Manchester City's Champions League hopes alive in a dramatic victory over Bayern Munich.

The stats tell you all you need to know about Aguero's form this season. 17 goals in 14 starts in all competitions is a remarkable return and the Argentine is - almost single-handedly - keeping Manchester City's title and Champions League aspirations alive. Manuel Pellegrini's men did their best to throw away another lead despite Bayern Munich being down to 10 men for the majority of the match, but Aguero was their saviour, scoring twice in the final five minutes. Win in Rome on 10 December and City should progress to the knock-out stages, but even a draw will be enough if Bayern beat CSKA Moscow.

Sean Dyche has heaped praise on the Manchester United loanee Michael Keane following his second half introduction for the injured Michael Duff during Saturdays’ win at the Britannia Stadium.

Keane has been restricted to just two substitute appearances since his summer loan move from United but with ever-present Michael Duff facing a race against time to make the Aston Villa match in game week thirteen the youngster will be hoping his impressive performance will be enough to earn his first start. The England under-21 international is tipped for an exciting future along with twin brother – William – but the defender needs to secure regular playing time if he hopes to establish himself in the United first team next season after loan spells at Blackburn, Leicester and Derby in recent years.

Nacer Chadli was a noticeable absentee on Sunday as Tottenham travelled to the KC Stadium to take on Hull in game week twelve as Pochettino confirmed his squad was without nine first members including the suspended Kyle Naughton.

The Belgium midfielder was reportedly nursing a knee problem which he picked up while on international duty against Wales prompting Spurs to send their leading scorer for a precautionary scan – the results of which are still unknown. The form of Chadli this season has been one of the few highlights in an otherwise disappointing campaign and any significant absence would be a huge blow particularly with such a heavy fixture schedule coming up. However there was better news as the Argentine coach confirmed Kyle Walker is now back in training, the full-back is expected to return in early December. Emmanuel Adebayor, Roberto Soldado & Etienne Capoue will all be checked before Everton visit White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Eric Dier continued his fantasy slump with a negative score in Tottenham's win at Hull.

Dier was the must-have defender in the Yahoo game back in August after two goals in the opening two games of the season, but things have started drifting in the past month and the young man had found himself benched in recent matches. He was back in the Spurs side for the match at Hull but suffered a difficult first half up against Robbie Brady and was replaced by Vlad Chiriches at half-time after picking up a clumsy yellow card to return -1 fantasy points. At the moment Dier is best left alone until there are clear signs of a return to the first team and a return to form.

Stevan Jovetic scored his first goal since August as Manchester City came from behind to beat Swansea.

Jovetic had an excellent pre-season and started the proper campaign well with two goals in his opening three games before suffering an injury and consequently losing his starting spot to Edin Dzeko, but the roles have now been reversed. Dzeko is currently sidelined with injury so Jovetic is back in the team and scored the equalising goal against Swansea at the weekend, his first since August. If the striker can maintain fitness then he's back on the radar as a fantasy alternative to the expensive Sergio Aguero whenever Manchester City have a decent fixture.

Mile Jedinak was on the score-sheet once again as Crystal Palace came from behind to shock Liverpool at Selhurst Park.

This was another captain's performances from Jedinak as he dominated the midfield with two tackles won and five interceptions, before capping the display with a glorious free-kick to seal the points. The Australian now has four goals this season and has taken on penalty duty, so this attacking production combined with his consistently excellent defensive contributions makes him one of the most valuable midfielders in the Yahoo fantasy game.

Harry Kane scored again to spark the Tottenham comeback against Hull City in Week 12.

Kane is Tottenham's top scorer this season with two goals in three Premier League starts and 11 goals for the season in all competitions. The young striker has a knack for being in the right place at the right time and was the quickest to react to slot the ball in to the net after Christian Eriksen's free-kick rebounded off the post and the Hull goalkeeper. Kane has been averaging 15 Yahoo fantasy points per game since he came off the bench against Aston Villa in Week 10 and his form shows no sign of slowing down, so he should be seen as your "go-to" Spurs striker with Emmanuel Adebayor struggling for fitness and Roberto Soldado struggling for goals.

Alex Song was one of a number of key West Ham first team members to miss the defeat at Goodison Park on Saturday but the club remain confident their Cameroonian midfielder could return in time to face Newcastle in game week thirteen.

The Hammers were without Stewart Downing [knee], Diafra Sakho [back], Cheikhou Kouyate and Enner Valencia but West Ham chairman David Gold did confirm via his social media account that all five have a chance for this weekend to varying degrees – although there are concerns over the England international who reportedly had a pain-killing injection prior to the Scotland game to get him through the friendly match. Mark Noble will also be assessed after taking a knock early in the second half at Everton – worryingly the midfielder is set for scan amid fears the kick may have caused a muscle tear.

Nathaniel Clyne denied Aston Villa a much-needed win as his late goal rescued a point for a disappointing Southampton side.

What a couple of weeks it has been for Clyne, who built on his two England caps during the international break with another fine performance and the equalising goal in the Monday night Premier League match. The right-back smashed home Ryan Bertrand's cross with just nine minutes remaining after Gabriel Agbonlahor had put Villa ahead in the first half after an error from Fraser Forster. The Saints were far from their best but dominated the second half, and their pressure finally told to provide Ronald Koeman's men a deserved point.

Gabriel Agbonlahor scored for Aston Villa as they picked up an unexpected point against Southampton in the Monday night Premier League clash.

This was a vastly improved performance from Aston Villa, who were well organised from the start and took a first half lead when Agbonlahor took advantage of an error of judgement from Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster. Paul Lambert's men resisted an onslaught from the Saints in the second half, that was until the 81st minute when Nathaniel Clyne scored a fine goal to deny the home side a vital three points. Still, a point moves Villa a little further from the relegation zone, up to 16th.

Wojciech Szczesny suffered a double whammy on Saturday as the goalkeeper was not only taken out by his own defender resulting in the opening goal at home to Manchester United but the injury forced the Polish international off with less than 15 minutes gone in the second half.

In an attempt to clear an in swinging cross from Ashley Young Szczesny came scampering off his line and collided with full-back Kieran Gibbs who was the recipient of an unnoticed Marouane Fellaini push – as both players remained on the floor the onrushing Antonio Valencia slammed the ball back into the box only for the outstretched leg of Gibbs to divert the ball into his own net. Szczesny remained down and following treatment a decision was made to introduce Damian Martinez despite the keeper wanting to continue. Post-match Wenger revealed the problem was not serious – hip injury - although his participation in the UCL against Dortmund is in serious doubt. He joins David Ospina on the sidelines meaning youngster Ryan Huddart could make the squad on Wednesday.
