The Southampton exodus continues this afternoon with Adam Lallana joining Luke Shaw in leaving the Saints with the midfielder set to join Liverpool.

The money isn't ours and Liverpool don't seem inclined to stop spending so whether £25million is an over-pay or not, Liverpool are definitely better and deeper today than they were yesterday. With Champions League football on order next season and the status of Luis Suarez up in the air after his third biting incident, the news of Lallana's signing will be welcome news for Liverpool supporters. What remains to be seen once the team is fully assembled is who will be starting and how often with Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez (maybe), Daniel Sturridge, Rickie Lambert, Philippe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Lallana, Lucas, Joe Allen, and Emre Can all vying for playing time along with returning loanees Fabio Borini and Oussama Assaidi. That's a lot of bodies to accommodate even with extra Champions League matches sprinkled in.

Tom Cleverley has joined Watford on loan for the rest of the season as he looks to rekindle a once-promising career.

Tom Cleverley carries a lot of baggage with him associated with the time when he was considered a top prospect coming through the ranks at Manchester United. A number of promising lower-division loan spells, including 11 goals in 33 matches with Watford in the Championship as a 20-year-old, just increased the hype. The reality of the Premier League has proven much more difficult and loan moves within the Prem and his permanent move to Everton haven't gone nearly so well. Now 27-years-old, he's not a prospect anymore and history indicates that he's probably not going to produce a great deal in his second stint for the Hornets.

Jürgen Klopp has taken the decision not to involve Joel Matip in the FA Cup replay at Plymouth Argyle and risk a potential FIFA sanction.

At yesterday’s press conference, the Liverpool boss hinted that he was prepared to consider the Cameroon defender following his recovery from an ankle ligament injury, despite uncertainties regarding his current eligibility. Matip ‘refused to play’ at the Africa Cup of Nations after being named in his country’s provisional squad, although Klopp insists he has done "nothing wrong" as his last appearance for the national side was in September 2015. "FIFA have told us they will decide on Friday if they open a case or not," a disgruntled Klopp mused. The football governing body said that it had referred Liverpool to article five of its rules which state: "A player who has been called up by his association for one of its representative teams is, unless otherwise agreed, not entitled to play for his club during the period for which he has been released, plus an additional period of five days."

Southampton have struggled for goals this season, especially after Charlie Auston's long term shoulder injury.

The ire of many fantasy managers and fans has fallen on both Shane Long and Jay Rodriguez for failing to notch up more than five goals between them in 20 hours of football this season. However, the criticism can be perceived to be a tad unfair when you consider the heavy rotation that manager Claude Puel uses, which means neither striker is given a chance to gain momentum. JRod has started consecutive games once, after his Bournemouth brace he started against Spurs 10 days later. After failing to score against the league's best defence, he was benched. Long started consecutive games twice early in the season, but when he got his only league goal of the season against West Brom he was rewarded with being dropped. Puel fails to let his strikers build confidence that is crucial for goalscoring strikers, as well as for building chemistry with ball providers in midfield.

Bournemouth winger Max Gradel is reportedly moving closer to a shock move to PL rivals Watford.

Gradel, who is currently at AFCON representing the Ivory Coast, is reportedly subject to a £3 million bid. The report is not the first linking Gradel with a move away from the Vitality stadium, with Burnley, West Ham, Marseille and Nantes all interested according to various reports.

Bournemouth full-back Tyrone Mings has said that his first PL start against Hull gave him mixed emotions.

The defeat to Hull tainted what should have been a momentous day for Mings, who has fought for 18 months to recover from tearing the anterior medial ligaments of his knee in his Premier League debut against Leicester in August 2015. Mings had just arrived at the club from Ipswich for an £8m fee, but is only now getting his chance to impress boss Eddie Howe, having started in the FA Cup defeat to Millwall too. Mings' disappointment with the loss and performance against Hull was clear in his post-match comments, with the Englishman aiming to quickly change his focus to the next game; "The only thing we can do now is try not to dwell on it too much and go out against Watford on Saturday and put it right."

Bournemouth's 3-1 defeat last weekend to Hull yet again highlighted their vulnerability in defence.

Bournemouth have now conceded 24 goals in their last 10 games across both league and cup. They currently sit in a mid-table position, but if that record continued it would be difficult to counteract it with goals from the front on a consistent basis. Manager Eddie Howe expressed his concern over the number of goals that Hull are conceding, admitting that a "pattern [is] emerging".

Claude Puel is coming under increasing fire for his team selections since taking the job at St Mary's in the summer.

Puel has made a staggering 179 changes to his starting XI in his 31 games in charge this term. That works out at an average of six per game. While competing on four fronts, Puel has never once named the same team in consecutive matches. The lack of consistency has seen his team struggle for form all season, recently culminating in a disastrous run of four losses in a row. Now, if the Saints triumph over Norwich in their FA Cup replay in midweek, they face five matches in a fortnight. The five games contain a crucial league cup semi-final second leg and must-win league games to stop the rot there. However, Puel's extreme rotation policy means that any momentum gained through a win will be discarded in favour of fresh legs during the period which is bound to frustrate players and fans alike even more.

Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor is set to join Championship side Cardiff City on loan until the end of the season.

McGregor, 34, is currently viewed as third choice for the starting XI slot between the sticks at present, behind Jakupovic and Marshall. McGregor arrived at the club in 2013 for £1.5 million, and went on to make over 100 appearances for the Tigers. However, he lost his starting place in the team in May last season as Hull pushed for promotion to the Premier League after picking up a back injury which eventually required surgery and six months on the sidelines. Cardiff, managed by Neil Warnock, have only two clean sheets in 14 matches since October when Warnock took charge. The veteran manager said he expects to announce the signing of a PL goalkeeper on Thursday, which is widely believed to be Hull's Scotsman.

Eldin Jakupovic appears to be new Hull manager Marco Silva's first choice goalkeeper.

There was little surprise when Jakupovic was selected by Silva for his first two games in charge in cup games, first in the FA Cup against Swansea and days later against Manchester United in the League Cup semi-final. However, Jakupovic's start in the Premier League against Bournemouth last weekend signals that he is Silva's first choice 'keeper. Summer signing David Marshall has had a torrid time since he arrived at the club, failing to keep a single clean sheet in 21 appearances and conceding an average of 2.47 goals per game.

Hull City have loaned out striker Johan ter Horst to National League side York City.

Ter Horst signed for the Tigers back in the summer of 2014, signing a 3 year contract which expires in the summer. The 21 year old, who arrived after a prolific season for Folkstone Invicta in the Ryman League where he scored 26 goals in the season, has been featuring for Hull's under-23 side for whom he netted in his past 2 games. Ter Horst has not made an appearance for Hull's senior side.

West Brom manager Tony Pulis has made a £10 million bid for Hull City midfielder Jake Livermore.

Pulis is in the market for a midfielder with a defensive mentality, having unsuccessfully pursued Morgan Schneiderlin already in this winter transfer window. Livermore was signed by Hull in 2014 from Spurs and has a single cap for England. He started last Saturday's victory against Bournemouth on the bench with Ryan Mason and Tom Huddlestone both being favoured by new boss Marco Silva.
