Emanuele Giaccherini's agent has stated his client wants to remain at Sunderland.

Giaccherini was Paolo Di Canio's biggest signing of last summer but the winger failed to settle in English football and ended up playing a bit-part role as new manager Gus Poyet orchestrated the great escape from relegation. The lack of game time meant the winger missed out on Italy's World Cup squad and many observers expected him to leave for Galatasaray, but his agent insists he wants to remain at Sunderland.

Ander Herrera's return to the Manchester United starting line-up was a brief one with the midfielder playing three matches before breaking a rib against West Ham.

The season-opening review of Ander Herrera was that he looked "light-weight" but that was directed more at his performance than his ability to stay healthy in the Premier League. After missing three weeks with an injury sustained in the opener, Herrera scored two goals in three matches before fracturing a rib against West Ham in Week 6 action. He will miss the Week 7 match against Everton for sure and may well continue to miss time after the international break as well.

Olivier Giroud may not be fit to play but apparently his writing hand is in working order as he penned a new deal that will keep him at the club through 2018.

The Frenchman broke his tibia in Arsenal's furious comeback against Everton earlier in the season and won't be back until early 2015 but his new contract, believed to be for £80,000-a-week, will see him stay at the Emirates into his early 30s. With Danny Welbeck now on board to give him competition it will be fascinating to see how Arsene Wenger doles out the playing time between the two forwards in the event they're ever healthy at the same time.

Didier Drogba has been ruled out of Chelsea's match against Sporting Lisbon with an ankle injury.

Drogba is out for a few weeks as he has aggravated an ankle injury in training. He is also ruled out for Sunday's match against Arsenal, which is a big blow for Chelsea fans who remember Drogba's scoring record against the Gunners. Diego Costa has been cleared to play against Sporting tomorrow and will start, while Loic Remy will be his backup. With Drogba out, Chelsea's decision to purchase Remy looks better and better every day.

Striker Stevan Jovetic is back in contention for Manchester City after recovering from the thigh injury which he picked up during training while on international duty with Montenegro at the beginning of September.

The return of Jovetic provides a welcome boost for Pellegrini as City approach a busy footballing period [after the international break] both domestically and across Europe which will see them play 7 games within 21 days easing pressure on his attacking teammates. Having suffered from a number of muscular issues throughout 2014 Sergio Aguero needs to be managed carefully leaving Edin Dzeko as the only other recognised striker within the first team squad; although youngster Jose Angel Pozo did impress during the Capital One Cup recently and won’t be far from a league debut if he continues in the same rich vein of form.

Christian BENteke took a big step towards a return to first team action after the striker played for over an hour on Monday for the Aston Villa development side marking his first appearance since March with a goal from the penalty spot.

Benteke stepped up his rehabilitation after almost six months out with a solid performance for the Under-21 side against Bolton Wanderers this afternoon providing Paul Lambert with a tricky decision ahead of the weekend’s visit of Manchester City. The striker joined the first-team squad in training over two weeks ago and has performed well suffering no adverse reaction to his recent injury with the Villa coach hinting at a potential return. The Claret and Blues have started well and currently sit sixth following a tricky set of opening fixtures but their position relies heavily on a tight defence having only scored four times this campaign [drawing blanks in four of their seven games] and the temptation to include his top scorer from the last two seasons must be growing as each game week ticks by.

Mixed injury news for Arsenal ahead of their UEFA Champions League home tie against Galatasaray on Wednesday as Jack Wilshere could be available but Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta are ruled out.

With a history of ankle problems the sight of Jack Wilshere limping to the sidelines is a cause for big concern but Arsene Wenger gave a positive update from the Emirates today confirming the England midfielder suffered no significant damage and could play midweek – although Chelsea on Sunday maybe more realistic. However the news regarding teammates Arteta [calf] and Ramsey [hamstring] is not so good with the pair ruled out for three weeks and a month respectively. Laurent Koscielny will also face a late fitness test as he continues to manage an ongoing Achilles problem.

West Bromwich Albion are making their move in the table after their second consecutive win comes easy for them, a 4-0 win over Burnley, with Saido Berahino scoring his second brace of the season.

What a turnaround for the Baggies in the past week as heading into last weekend's clash with Spurs, they had just one point in the league and had not scored for three consecutive matches. Now they find themselves currently 10th in the table and Berahino suddenly has scored a brace in two of West Brom's first three home games. Expectations for Berahino and others going forward in fantasy should be somewhat tempered, Burnley were horrible today. However, their recent display at least puts some of their better players in the conversation for weekly games where they have a plus matchup.

The Arsenal midfield was plunged into crisis on Saturday after Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere all suffered injuries during the North London derby at the Emirates.

The trio add to an ever-growing list of injured players and with a key week of football ahead of them this latest setback couldn’t have come at a worse time – on Wednesday Arsenal face Galatasaray in the Champions League hoping to secure their first Group D points while they meet league leaders Chelsea next weekend. Mikel Arteta [calf] and Aaron Ramsey [hamstring] are already listed as very doubtful and given their recent history a return after the international break is realistic - Jack Wilshere [ankle] which will be assessed although he must be carefully managed. Wenger will be able to upon the experience of Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky along with Abou Diaby but the Gunners are struggling – expect Santi Cazorla to step up providing a bargain differential.

A thunderbolt deep into stoppage time from Everton defender Phil Jagielka was enough to share the spoils at Anfield but post-match celebrations were muted by the news that Kevin Mirallas is facing an extended period out due to a thigh injury.

The attacking Belgium is no stranger to muscular related problems but following his well-documented issues during the early part of his Everton career the winger was beginning to allay concerns of any serious long-term problems. Kevin Mirallas played over 2300 minutes of league football during the 2013/14 season - a run which included 32 appearances [28 starts]. However this latest setback did not look good – from the way Mirallas instantly pulled up and signalled to the bench to his departure in obvious discomfort. With Ross Barkley "progressing" but still a few weeks away Martinez will be hoping the likes of Steven Pienaar and Arouna Kone are available soon as their quality and experience will be essential as Everton try to cope with a hectic fixture schedule.

Arsenal were on the front foot for most of the match but needed an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain equalizer to rescue a point from Spurs in the North London Derby.

Arsenal attacked and attacked but it was Spurs who broke through on a Nacer Chadli goal after Mathieu Flamini gave the ball away to Christian Eriksen in his defensive third. Arsenal brought on Alexis Sanchez late and turned up the pressure even further. Huge Lloris made a great diving save and Calum Chambers just missed a screaming volley but it was only Oxlade-Chamberlain's drive off a bouncing ball in the box that found it's way past the French international goalkeeper.

Younes Kaboul was everywhere clearing balls, intercepting passes and providing a physical presence as Spurs managed a draw despite enjoying very little possession at the Emirates.

It was Nacer Chadli that got the goal from an Erik Lamela assist (from a terrible Mathieu Flamini error) and Hugo Lloris that provided the highlight reel save but it was Kaboul who kept showing up to blunt Arsenal attacks before they could cause any danger. The site of Kaboul heading a ball away or bodying Danny Welbeck off of a chance seemed to pop up on the screen at every critical juncture during the match.
