Arsenal's young Costa Rican forward Joel Campbell is a target for both Crystal Palace and West Ham United as he looks to continue the footballing apprenticeship he experienced at Betis last season.

With Palace strongly linked to Jerome Thomas - a deal that appears very close to done - Campbell may be the next piece in the attacking puzzle at Selhurst Park. With Wilfred Zaha headed to Manchester United with no promise of a further loan a young talent like Campbell could be just the thing. From the player's point of view it would be a great opportunity to prove he can be productive in the Premier League as he pushes for a spot at Arsenal.

Stephane Sessegnon collected three shots on target in West Brom's 1-0 win over Aston Villa in Week 16.

Sessegnon is a frustrating player. He has moments when he absolutely sparkles but then he'll disappear for long stretches. He was at his active best in Week 16 firing three shots on target. He didn't get a goal but between the shots on target and winning four fouls, he put up a strong fantasy total for a West Brom team that didn't put up great stats despite winning. The problem is that history tells us that this is the anomaly rather than the start of a trend. Probably best not to overreact to one active match as Sessegnon is just as likely to be on the bench of ninety minutes in Week 17 as he is to repeat the double digit performance.

Gareth McAuley started his second straight match for West Brom in Week 16 and the Baggies recorded their second straight clean sheet in the 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.

Craig Dawson appeared to be playing well and have supplanted veteran Gareth McAuley in the spine of Alan Irvine's starting line-up. Irvine appears to have done a 180 degree turn on that decision over the last two weeks and inserted McAuley back into the heart of the defense. The result has been two consecutive clean sheets and four points to show over the two matches. Whether this is a permanent change or just an extended break for Dawson remains to be seen. Regardless, it is good news for Albion that they have three quality center backs to choose from as the season wears on.

It appears that Alan Irvine may have changed Saido Berahino's role to "late-match change of pace" after dropping the forward from the starting line-up for two consecutive weeks.

West Brom isn't enough of an attacking force that you'd think they could afford to rotate their leading goal-scorer on a regular basis but that is what Alan Irvine has done over Week 15 and Week 16. After starting Berahino consistently from Week 1 through Week 14, Irvine decided to try a different approach with a player who hadn't scored since the end of October. While bringing Berahino on late didn't directly create a goal, it certainly changed up the attacking mix and a goal and a win did come within a few minutes of the player being introduced. Fantasy managers should be aware that the arrangement could continue which would have an impact on Berahino's opportunity to collect phantom points over the course of an entire match.

Bojan had been on fire for close to a month leading up to the Crystal Palace match but a relatively quiet display culminating in a hip injury may slow his progress.

Although it won't show up in any stat sheet or fantasy point tally, Bojan did make a significant contribution to Peter Crouch's goal against Crystal Palace on Saturday. It was the former Barca man's attacking drive that eventually found it's way to Peter Crouch after Jon Walters muffed the shot that Bojan teed up for him. Early in the second half Bojan had to be substituted with a hip injury. His status for Week 17 remains up in the air.

Juan Mata scored one and created one in Manchester United's 3-0 win over Liverpool continuing a strong run of form that has run from November into December.

With Angel Di Maria out of action with a hamstring issue, Manchester United needed someone to step into the Argentine's creative role in midfield. Juan Mata, an afterthought for much of the early part of the season, has taken the opportunity provided by Di Maria's absence and run with it. With three goals and an assist since the beginning of November he is definitely forcing himself into Louis Van Gaal's thinking. Hard to believe there was a time this season when Adnan Januzaj was starting ahead of a healthy Mata.

Wayne Rooney scored United's opening goal and contributed a little bit of everything to the not-as-convincing-as-the-scoreline-makes-it-look 3-0 victory.

If ever there was a stat line and a match that summarized Wayne Rooney as a player, this was it. Manchester United won, he scored a goal, added a couple shots on target, got a yellow card, committed a couple additional fouls and contributed various and sundry other stats. The end result was good for both the team (they won) and Rooney (17 fantasy points in the Yahoo system). How they got there wasn't necessarily as great (it could easily have been 3-2 Liverpool but for De Gea's greatness and a blown off-side on Mata's goal). Hard to figure but it works out far more often than not for Rooney.

Phil Jones has been in and out of the line-up all season and he returned again against Liverpool with a big game in United's 3-0 win.

The England defender contributed six interceptions, three tackles won and a blocked shot to Manchester United's clean sheet. He wasn't nearly as important to that clean sheet as David De Gea but fantasy managers will like to see Jones back. When he has been healthy this season he has generally been very effective at accumulating large phantom point totals even when United weren't keeping clean sheets. Now that things appear to be moving in the right direction overall, Jones could be even more effective.

It has been an up and down past four weeks for the big Belgian but he was "up" again in United's big rivalry win against Liverpool in Week 16.

Week 13 = -4; Week 14 = 21; Week 15 = 2; Week 16 = 13. Something of a pattern in Marouane Fellaini's results within the Yahoo scoring system, huh? Despite committing four fouls and being shown a yellow card, Fellaini managed 13 points on the back of eight tackles, four blocked shots, and three passes intercepted. That's a big defensive effort if ever there was one. I think Arsenal players are still having flashbacks of Fellaini throwing himself around in midfield as well.

19-year-old Hector Bellerin showed well against Newcastle with an assist and solid defending in Arsenal's 4-1 win.

Clearly, things were going Arsenal's way for most of the match so it's hard to judge just how effective the young right back was but compared to recent results, he looked promising. His drive into the box and service for Arsenal's third goal were well done and the left side of Newcastle's attack didn't create problems for a makeshift Arsenal defense. With Calum Chambers having served his suspension, it is likely Bellerin will take a place on the bench for the Week 17 match against Liverpool but as a spot starter or injury replacement, Bellerin showed well.

In Week 15, Allan McGregor had a huge fantasy week as Hull City kept a clean sheet but his fortunes sunk markedly in Week 16 as they fell 2-0 to Chelsea.

Such is the danger of goalkeepers outside of the top clubs. Occasionally a goalkeeper on a team that is outclassed as Hull City were by Chelsea will pick up a bunch of saves to offset the negative points associated with goals conceded and picking up the loss. In this case, McGregor only managed one save and registered a negative point total. That makes two significant negative outings in the Yahoo format (-7 and -6) over the past four match weeks. Just a word to the wise if you were thinking of skimping on your goalkeeper to focus your resources elsewhere.

23, 0, 29, and 28 - those are RvP's previous four fantasy totals as the big numbers start to overwhelm the little ones for the first time this season.

When that zero happened, it made the 23 against Hull City look like the outlier because van Persie's season-to-date hadn't been very good. As the past two weeks have unfolded, it looks more like the zero that was the outlier with van Persie among the goals in three out of his past four Premier League matches for a total of four goals and two assists in four weeks. I hope the bandwagon didn't fill up before you had a chance to jump back on.
