Serial biter Luis Suarez had his appeal of his four-month FIFA suspension rejected by the sport's governing body.

With the rest of the World Cup going on, it seems like an under-reported story that FIFA has ventured outside their usual jurisdiction to impose a worldwide ban on Luis Suarez for four months. The Uruguay and Liverpool forward appealed the suspension and that appeal has now been rejected. He still has the option to appeal to further to the Court of Arbitration for Sport who might, indeed, indicate that FIFA can only ban him from playing for Uruguay. Regardless, this turn of events likely has zero impact on Suarez's likely move to Barcelona that continues to rumble forward.

Christen Eriksen broke a 1-1 deadlock late in the match and Spurs made North London two for two in Showdown Sunday clashes as Tottenham beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad.

Spurs' first goal was as controversial as they come with Raheem Sterling questionably called for a penalty that may or may not have hit his arm at the very edge of the box. Harry Kane dispatched the penalty right down the middle of Joe Hart's goal for a 1-0 lead. City equalized through Kelechi Iheanacho's blast. It was down to Christen Eriksen, put in on Joe Hart's goal by an Erik Lamela through ball, to finish things off and he did so with style. Hugo Lloris was required to make one big save from Nicolas Otamendi in stoppage time but Spurs took all three points back to London.

Danny Welbeck returned to the Arsenal squad with the decisive goal deep in stoppage time to see off top-of-the-table Leicester City.

It was billed as a must-win for Arsenal if they wanted to stay in the title race and win they did, but just barely. After going down a goal in the first half to a questionable penalty, the Gunners got a break when Danny Simpson was sent off for a second yellow card early in the second half. Olivier Giroud set up Theo Walcott to level out the Jamie Vardy penalty goal. It looked like the match would end 1-1 until an ill-advised Marcin Wasilewski foul on Nacho Monreal in the fourth minute of stoppage time gave Arsenal a free kick in a dangerous spot. Danny Welbeck got the faintest of touches on Mesut Ozil's cross but it was enough for an Arsenal win on the last kick of the match.

Raheem Sterling will have plenty of reason to complain about the penalty that gifted Spurs their first goal in Manchester City's 2-1 loss to title rivals Tottenham.

While it is technically true that the ball hit Raheem Sterling's elbow in or at least near the penalty area, the awarding of a penalty on the play was exceptionally harsh. The ball glanced off Sterling's back first and his arm was hardly in the proverbial "unnatural" position that usually dictates a penalty in such situations. Spurs took a 1-0 advantage on a well taken Harry Kane penalty and went on to win by a single goal. City will certainly not look kindly on a call that was, at best, questionable going against them in a title race that got that much tighter on Sunday with Leicester City, Spurs and Arsenal separated by two points.

Daniel Sturridge returned to the starting XI and scored the opening goal as Liverpool would go on to trounce Aston Villa on their ground, 0-6.

Sturridge grabbed the opener in the 16th minute, heading in a cross from Philippe Coutinho. James Milner would score from a free kick nine minutes later. It stayed that way until the 58th minute, and then the Villa defense went to complete shambles, as the Reds would score four times over the next 13 minutes. Goals came courtesy of Emre Can, Divock Origi, Nathaniel Clyne and Kolo Toure. Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino each had and assist while Coutinho collected three. In all, nine of ten outfield players had a part in the six goals, something you don't see every day. No need to rush out and invest in Liverpool however, they have a blank in Week 27.

Aston Villa may very well have taken the final nail today in their relegation coffin, as they were demolished in front of their home crowd with a 0-6 loss to Liverpool.

There were many empty seats at Villa Park today and the stadium's attendance only dwindled as the match wore on. The Reds attack, revitalized with the return of Daniel Sturridge, broke through the Swiss cheese defense of the Villans with ease. Mark Bunn was the unfortunate soul who watches six balls pass him by. He had done fairly well since replacing Brad Guzan, keeping three clean sheets in their previous five matches where they had conceded only three goals in total. Just when Villa looked like they might have a bit of fight in them to challenge to stay up this season, today's result pretty much books their ticket to the Championship.

Leicester City, especially Kasper Schmeichel, played well enough to win but mistakes from Danny Simpson and Marcin Wasilewski spelled doom for the Foxes at the Emirates as Arsenal staged a late comeback to win 2-1.

The Premier League leaders had a chance to put real distance between themselves and Arsenal and going into halftime, it looked like they would do just that. Jamie Vardy earned and then scored a penalty in the 45th minute for a 1-0 lead that sucked the life out of the Emirates. Danny Simpson gave the Gunners new life when he was sent off in the 54th minute. It took 16 minutes before Theo Walcott took advantage of the mistake. To heap on additional misery, Marcin Wasilewski committed a needless foul on Nacho Monreal in the dying seconds of stoppage time to gift Arsenal one last chance on goal. Mesut Ozil put in an exceptional cross and Danny Welbeck got the slightest of touches to win the game with virtually the final play of the match.

Pedro has been poor value for the money this season but rebounded with a brace as Chelsea pounded Newcastle 5-1 at Stamford Bridge.

It was a mauling at the Bridge with Chelsea scoring early and often against the relegation-threatened Magpies. Diego Costa opened the scoring after five minutes followed by Pedro, Willian, Pedro again and then substitute Bertrand Traore. It's hard to make any statements about Chelsea going forward because Newcastle were just rotten.

Newcastle will be miserable after dropping a 5-1 decision at Stamford Bridge but at least Andros Townsend got his first goal for the club.

There really weren't many positives to take away from a wretched performance. The Magpies dropped into the relegation zone after Norwich picked up a point against West Ham. The ony bright spot was Townsend who has been good over his past two matches for his new club.

Shane Long scored once again for Southampton and earned his team a huge three points.

Southampton continue to play well and are tied for sixth place with West Ham. The Saints played another solid match, and Shane Long provided the spark needed to win it. The assist came from James Ward-Prowse, a youngster who has been playing well this season. Swansea's troubles deepen with this loss, and they are now just three points head of the relegation zone.

Sadio Mane and Dusan Tadic have been relegated to bench roles as Southampton continue playing well.

Tadic and Mane were the stars for Southampton early in the season but both have dropped in form and were on the bench today. It's hard to trust either in fantasy right now, but both possess enough quality to be kept in season-long leagues. In daily leagues, a great target at the moment is James Ward-Prowse, who is on corner kick duty.

Graziano Pelle started ahead of Charlie Austin today but did not score in his 74 minutes on the pitch.

Pelle and Austin are battling for the starting job at the moment and it seems like Pelle is currently in the lead. The Southampton strikers haven't been great fantasy contributors as of late, but there is potential for them as they face Bournemouth, Sunderland, and Stoke City in three of their next four matches. Both strikers are worth holding onto in season long leagues.
