Germany have won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a late extra time goal from Mario Gotze.

The final scored was 1-0 in favor of Germany. Germany and Argentina both played well in the final, but the Germans proved to the better team. Chelsea's Andre Schurrle came on in the 30th minute to replace the injured Christoph Kramer and had a phenomenal match. Schurrle provided pace down the left hand side and the Argentine defense had trouble containing him. The move also allowed Mesut Ozil to play in his favorite position in the middle of the pitch. At the end, it was Schurrle who plays a magnificent ball to Mario Gotze, who chested the ball down and scored with a nice volley. The Germans were undoubtedly the best team in the tournament and fully deserve the victory.

Manchester United centre-back Tyler Blackett has joined Championship side Reading on a permanent basis.

Blackett, who spent 6 months on loan at Celtic last year, is not part of Jose Mourinho's plans. The 22 year old made 12 first team appearances for United during the 2014-15 season for Louis Van Gaal however the young former England U-21 international only made 8 appearances for Celtic last term. He now links up with former Manchester United player Jaap Stam who manages Reading, where he has signed a 3 year contract. He will hope to continue his development and make a return to Premier League football sooner rather than later.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has joined Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan for the season.

Manchester United have sent the young left back on loan in order to get valuable first-team experience in order to aid his development. The 19 year old made 14 appearances for United's first 11 last term however the return of Luke Shaw from injury meant that he would have been unlikely to play often this season. This loan move does not appear to be the beginning of the end of the young Englishman's Old Trafford tenure as he was just rewarded with a new contract at the beginning of the summer.

Burnley striker Andre Gray has found himself in hot water after being charged with misconduct by the Football Association.

The charges relate to inappropriate tweets from 2012 which surfaced in the wake of Burnley's unexpected 2-0 triumph over Liverpool where Gray was the star. The tweets, which were homophobic in nature, contravened FA Rule E3. The tweets date back to a time when Gray, 25, played for non-league outfit Hinckley United. In recent days, Gray has apologised for the comments and distanced himself from the beliefs expressed describing himself as "not the guy [he] was back then." He has until next Wednesday at 6 pm to respond to the charges, for which he is likely to receive a suspension and/or a fine.

Newcastle United look set to secure the transfer of DeAndre Yedlin from Tottenham, with the defender having arrived recently to Tyneside ahead of the reported move.

The Magpies looked to have beaten Hull City and Derby County in the race to sign the US International, with the other two clubs having inquired about Yedlin last week. Newcastle are poised to move Daryl Janmaat away from the club and Yedlin would immediately be able to step in to occupy the role. Tottenham already have Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier, with the latter unhappy with his playing time, so Yedlin will have an opportunity to develop further after having a successful loan spell at Sunderland last weekend.

Neil Taylor, who has been kept out of Swansea City's matchday squad due to a lack of fitness, is pegged to start against Peterborough in Tuesday night's Capital One Cup

The way things are shaping up, Stephen Kingsley looks to start at least one more league game, this weekend against defending champs Leicester, as Francesco Guidolin will surely not want Taylor to go from lacking fitness straight to two starts in five days. It may take an extremely positive display from Kingsley or an extremely negative one from Taylor to prevent the latter from regaining his spot at left back. Taylor may have been dropped in draft leagues and could drop to 4.4m in the FPL game soon. Swansea have a tough schedule ahead but in deep leagues he may be worth an add after Week 3 passes.

Mamadou Sakho, who has just returned to training for Liverpool, is being considered for a loan away from the club.

They say that time heals all wounds and, with a loan away from Anfield, perhaps Sakho can get back into a groove after a tumultuous few months in which he was charged with a doping violation, suffered two different injuries and was sent home early from the Reds preseason tour for misconduct. Klopp has two new central defenders, Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan, to call upon in the meantime, along with Dejan Lovren and an eventually-returning Joe Gomez. The good news is, whether he stays or goes, Sakho is nearing fitness and Sadio Mane has returned to training as well.

West Bromwich Albion is reportedly closing in on a season-long loan move for Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez this week.

The 27-year-old forward spent much of last season recovering from a serious knee injury as well as the entire 2014/15 season after a breakthrough year in 2013/14 that saw him score 15 goals and earn a call-up into the England national team. Despite fully recovering from his injuries, there seems to be no place for Rodriguez in Claude Puel's first team as Saints are open to a loan move. Tony Pulis' West Brom has been actively searching for attacking options and is in talks to take Rodriguez on loan, which could spell the end for Saido Berahino.

Steven Defour enjoyed a very positive debut, collecting an assist in Burnley's 2-0 win over Liverpool.

It is only one appearance, and an abbreviated one at that, but Defour is looking like a very good signing for the Clarets, who need some class players to help the club stay up this time around. Defour is clearly a significant upgrade over David Jones and we should expect for him to be one of the first names on Sean Dyche's team sheet week after week. He only played 56 minutes against the Reds but he helped Burnley score their second goal by leading a breakaway and feeding Andre Gray. That may be the regular scoring combination going forward and Defour may emerge this season as a useful fantasy option.

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka confirmed that a "minor injury" kept ex-Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes out of yesterday’s Wear-Tees derby.

US international Brad Guzan came in for his first competitive start at the Stadium of Light [following his summer arrival from Aston Villa], but while the result will be pleasing for Karanka, the performance of his back-up stopper won’t be after he let the ball slip away for the Sunderland goal. Fortunately, it looks like Valdes shouldn’t be side-lined for too long after the Boro boss confirmed pot-match: "Victor felt something [in training]," he said. "It isn't serious but I don't like to take any risks with muscle injuries, so he didn't play."

Wide attacker Joel Campbell will join Sporting Lisbon on loan for the 2016-17 season according to the club's Twitter feed.

With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi, and maybe even Jeff Reine-Adelaide in front of him for minutes at the right attacking spot, Joel Campbell has been shipped off to Sporting Lisbon in search of regular playing time. Campbell made a solid contribution to the first team last season when injuries gave him an opportunity but with no stand-out attribute and a bunch of more talented players in front of him, his future likely lies elsewhere.

Everton defender Brendon Galloway has left Goodison Park for the Hawthorns on a one-year loan as Tony Pulis looks to build squad depth for the long Premier League campaign.

The versatile Zimbabwe native can play both center back and left back which, combined with standing 6'1", sounds like a Tony Pulis sort of defender. With injuries to Leighton Baines and Bryan Oviedo last season, Galloway made 17 appearances for the Toffees during the campaign. With Baines and Oviedo back as well Ronald Koeman stocking up on veteran defenders, Galloway wasn't likely to get nearly as much time this season with Everton. The move makes sense even though he is likely to be a reserve for Albion as well. At least he won't be third choice.
