Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has turned down the Brazil job, according to reports.

The story has been picked up by the Manchester Evening News after it was widely reported across the Chilean media yesterday. Brazil's World Cup boss Luiz Felipe Scolari resigned following a disappointing end to their tournament, and the El Mercurio newspaper believe Pellegrini was one of the managers under consideration as a potential successor. However, they report that the 60-year-old intends to honour his Etihad contract after guiding City to the Premier League title in his debut season in England.

Chris Coleman has named Joe Ledley in his 23-man Wales squad, just 24-days after the Crystal Palace midfielder suffered a fractured fibula in the Premier League.

Ledley joined his international teammates in a pre-tournament training camp in Portugal and even though he trained away from the main group, Coleman was sufficiently impressed to include the 29-year-old in his European Championship squad. "Joe looks very good," said Coleman. "He trained on the grass and the work he has put in is incredible and he looks good. With the injury he has had he is ahead of his work in his rehab. We will assess him and we will know more in the next week. But at the moment I think he has a good chance of playing against Slovakia."

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been included in Germany’s 23-man Euro 2016 squad.

The 31-year-old made a timely return to full training following his recovery from a knee ligament injury. Despite playing less than two hours of top flight football in the calendar year, Joachim Löw kept faith in his skipper who guided Die Mannschaft to World Cup glory in 2014. However, the news wasn’t so good for Marco Reus who was axed from the squad on his 27th birthday because of concerns over his fitness. The Borussia Dortmund star enjoyed an excellent domestic season but is struggling with a groin problem. "The medical staff could not give a clear prognosis for Marco," revealed the German boss. "He has massive injury problems and they were very sceptical about his ability to last through the coming weeks and such a gruelling tournament."

Harry Arter has lost his battle to overcome a thigh injury and will not feature at this summers’ European Championships in France.

The AFC Bournemouth midfielder has been dogged by injury throughout 2015/16 but appeared to be winning his battle for fitness after shrugging off hip and Achilles issues. However, this latest setback ended any hopes of making Martin O’Neill’s 23-man Republic of Ireland squad and the 26-year-old left his countries training camp in Cork on Monday.

Young Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been included in England's squad for the European Championships in France this summer.

Just about everything that could go write for Rashford has since his introduction in the Europa League earlier in 2016. He scored twice on his debut. He then starred again against Arsenal in his first Premier League start with two goals and an assist. He ended the season with five league goals and two assists in eleven starts. That earned him a new four-year contract at Manchester United and a place in England's 23-man squad for the Euros in France this summer. Don't bet against him making an impression at some point in the tournament. It's been that sort of year for the youngster.

The England U21 squad was victorious over hosts France in the finals of the Toulan tournament with Chelsea teammates Lewis Baker and Ruben Loftus-Cheek providing the goals in the 2-1 win.

Chelsea's youth set-up has been an exciting group to watch for a couple of seasons now. With Nathan Ake already making their mark as starters on loan in the Premier League and Ruben Loftus-Cheek playing on the fringes of the Chelsea first team, there are high hopes for the current crop of Chelsea kids. With Blues at the core of the Toulan winners, supporters will be hoping that Antonio Conte is more focused on promoting youngsters than his predecessor. Other Premier League players - Calum Chambers, Jordan Pickford, Matt Targett, Duncan Watmore, Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse also featured in the win.

Manchester United's in-house television station, MUTV, has reported that Michael Carrick has signed a one year contract to stay at Old Trafford.

With his health and effectiveness waning, there has been plenty of speculation about Carrick's future. The question of whether he will be staying has now been settled with the signing of his new contract. What is certainly up in the air is how much he will play. Jose Mourinho is surely going to use Morgan Schneiderlin more than Louis Van Gaal did but who partners the Frenchman in holding midfield remains to be seen. Carrick, Schweinsteiger and Fellaini are all candidates but none seem likely to be high on Mourinho's list of options. Look for a new signing unless Mourinho fancies Daley Blind in the role.

Gary Cahill and Daniel Sturridge have returned to full training with the England national team after missing the past week.

Sturridge has yet to feature for the Three Lions in the team's pre-Euro friendlies over the past two weeks due to a calf injury while Cahill was held out of action against Australia due to a hip complaint. But Sturridge's place in the final squad could be in danger with Marcus Rashford impressing in his debut on Friday with a goal in the first three minutes. Meanwhile, Ryan Bertrand was held out of training as he receives treatment for a knock while Fabian Delph looks to miss out on the tournament due to injury.

Defensive woes deepen for Belgium coach Marc Wilmots after Nicolas Lombaerts and Dedryck Boyata were omitted from the Red Devils European Championship squad.

Lombaerts has been struggling since earlier this month due to an ongoing hamstring problem and Wilmots today made the decision to axe the Zenit Saint-Petersburg defender in favour of the uncapped Christian Kabasele. International teammate Boyata is another who will be leaving the Belgium camp after suffering an unspecified muscular problem in training on Monday - the pair join captain Vincent Kompany on the sidelines who recently underwent thigh surgery. However, with Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Jason Denayer and Thomas Vermaelen still at his disposal, Wilmots will not be panicking just yet: "It's not too bad after all," revealed the 47-year-old.

Manchester United has taken a step toward its future by signing Marcus Rashford and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson to new long-term contracts.

The Red Devils announced the duo each signed a four-year contract through 2020 with an option for another year. Harry Arter and Robbie Keane have emerged as injury doubts for Euro 2016 after Martin O’Neill confirmed the pair picked up injuries over the weekend.

Bournemouth midfielder Arter was involved in Friday nights’ 1-1 draw with the Netherlands but was replaced after 83 minutes due to a muscular problem: "He came off with a thigh injury so we’ll get him a scan shortly and we’ll see what the doctor says," revealed the Republic of Ireland manager. Meanwhile, Keane [who was an unused substitute] picked up an injury on Saturday morning: "We did some training and he felt his calf just at the end so we’ll take it on a daily basis. He won’t play [against Belarus] as we won’t risk him [and] see how it goes." However, there was better news regarding James McCarthy who is improving daily following his injury on the final day of the season.

Didier Deschamps is not prepared to risk Anthony Martial in Monday nights’ penultimate European Championship warm-up match against Cameroon after the Manchester United attacker complained of muscular discomfort.

The French coach cited a long Premier League season confirming the 20-year-old "has pain in his thigh," caused by "muscular fatigue." There is no suggestion that Martial could miss out at Euro 2016 and his withdrawal from the squad is purely as a precaution having seen the likes of Raphael Varane and Jeremy Mathieu ruled out in recent weeks. Meanwhile, Mamadou Sakho is available once again after UEFA decided not to extend his 30-day anti-doping ban. However, after more than a month on the sidelines, Deschamps is unlikely to call upon the Liverpool defender who is lacking match fitness.
