Udinese forward and 20-goal Watford loanee Matej Vydra has been linked to West Brom, Sunderland, West Ham, and Swansea with Sunderland apparently willing to risk taking him on loan rather than a permanent deal.

With Andy Carroll in at West Ham it seems less likely that they will have the money to compete with the others for Vydra but West Brom, Sunderland and Swansea are all desperate for a quality forward. Sunderland's willingness to take him on loan - potentially further pumping up his value for Udinese - could push the competition in their direction even if it could hurt long term if the price goes up when it comes time for a permanent move. Stephane Sussegnon's possible departure is likely the motivating force behind Sunderland's willingness to make that deal.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has completed his move to Swansea from Tottenham.

Sigurdsson spent the 2011/12 season on loan at Swansea from Hoffenheim and had an extremely successful spell, scoring seven goals, but the resulting move to Spurs never really worked out. He returns to the Liberty Stadium on a permanent basis as part of the deal that saw Ben Davies and Michel Vorm move in the opposite direction. The move makes sense for both the clubs and the player, and would also be good news for fantasy managers, with Sigurdsson likely to be handed a first team role and set piece duty under Garry Monk's stewardship.

Mauro Zarate scored his first goal for West Ham United in their 2-1 loss to Wellington Phoenix.

Zarate was acquired to support Andy Carroll in attack but with the big man getting injured again, Zarate could find himself leading the line for West Ham at the beginning of the season. He costs £5.50M in the Yahoo game and is listed as a midfielder, making him a bargain for fantasy managers. To make the deal sweeter, West Ham have a favorable schedule to start the season with games against Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Southampton, and Hull City. Enner Valencia also gets a big bump with Andy Carroll's injury struggles.

Ben Davies and Michel Vorm have both completely their moves from Swansea City to Tottenham Hotspur today according to the Spurs official Twitter feed.

Both moves have been in the press as being essentially done deals for over a week but today brings official word that Spurs have a new left back in Ben Davies and a new goalkeeper in Michel Vorm. Based on his form two seasons ago, the notion of Vorm accepting a back-up role to Hugo Lloris would be odd but after a disappointing season that was also marred by injury and the arrival of Lukasz Fabianski, he was surplus to requirements. Davies will be the presumed starter ahead of Danny Rose who has been rumored to be on the move himself. No word as to whether Gylfi Sigurdsson will be moving in the opposite direction.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has made it clear that defender Ron Vlaar is not for sale.

There has been interest for Vlaar after his impressive World Cup performance but the Aston Villa defender has been labeled not for sale. Paul Lambert is under pressure to improve his team's performance and the loss of Vlaar would be huge. Ron Vlaar has a year left on his contract but Lambert is determined to get Vlaar to agree to an extension soon. Vlaar's fantasy value can increase as Villa's defense improves with the return of Jores Okore.

Felipe Luis made his Chelsea debut in a friendly 1-1 draw against WAC RZ Pellets.

Luis Felipe started at left-back in a back line featuring Branislav Ivanovic, John Terry, and Kurt Zouma. He played the entire first half and part of the second and was replaced by Nathan Ake. Luis looks like he'll be a regular starter at Stamford Bridge this season. Jose Mourinho chose to play everyone in the squad in this match as he tries to bring his players to match fitness. Fernando Torres, Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, Cesc Fabregas, and Diego Costa were absent as they were given time to recover from their World Cup participation earlier this summer.

Petr Cech started for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury at the end of the last year.

Cech started in Chelsea's friendly against Austrian side WAC RZ Pellets and appeared healthy. There is uncertainty at the position this year as Chelsea have brought back youngster Thibaut Courtois who was on loan for the past two seasons. Courtois has repeatedly stated he wants playing time but Petr Cech is still in his prime so it's unknown what Chelsea will do. The two most likely options are loaning out Courtois or selling Cech to a club outside of the Premier League. Whoever ends up with the job will be an immediate candidate for top fantasy goalkeeper this season.

Southampton are ready to make an improved bid for Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster as a replacement for Artur Boruc.

Artur Boruc had Southampton's starting job locked down when healthy last season but has been an average goalkeeper prone to mistakes. New Saints manager Ronald Koeman wants to improve the position by signing Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster. Forster has been extremely impressive for Celtic and even had a 13 match, 1256 minute streak without conceding a goal. The keeper is highly valued by his club and is expected to cost at least £10m, a price Southampton can afford after selling many of their prized players this summer. It's unknown if Boruc will play as a backup or leave the club if Southampton can sign Forster.

Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo will return to Middlesbrough on a season-long loan according to Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka.

The Nigerian defender spent the second half of last season at Middlesbrough and featured regularly. Omeruo has earned a lot of praise from Karanka and has developed into a solid player. If he continues growing at this rate, Omeruo can replace John Terry at Chelsea in the near future. The 20-year-old is a versatile defender who can play at center-back and left-back. Expect him to be a great fantasy option in the future.

Andy Carroll has been withdrawn from the West Ham United side touring New Zealand after sustaining an ankle injury in training.

While the club made sure to point out in the press release that this ankle injury has nothing to do with the ankle injury that kept him out for much of last season, there have to be mounting fears over Carroll's ability to stay fit. Having only made 15 Premier League appearances in 2013-14 and not having hit the 30 match mark since 2011-12 at Liverpool, there is a decided trend developing. Reports indicate that his absence from pre-season friendlies will be "precautionary" but cynical Hammers supporters would be justified in their concern about a spell on the sidelines.

Mark Hughes continues to remake the Stoke City squad with the signing of former Barcelona rising star Bojan Krkic.

Krkic has seen his career stall in recent years after breaking Lionel Messi's record as the youngest Barcelona player ever to feature in a La Liga match. Tipped for great things, he has never lived up to the hype despite loan opportunities at Roma, AC Milan and Ajax in recent seasons. This is a high risk/high reward move for Stoke City on a player who is still only 23 years old and could easily still come good on his early promise with an extended run of matches under a less intense spotlight than his recent stops. He's definitely a new arrival to monitor over the first month of the season.

Looking to fill the Romelu Lukaku-sized hole in their front line, West Brom have broken their transfer record to sign Nigerian international Brown Ideye.

Ideye represents a big gamble for West Brom after a year of failed experiments at forward last season. At 6' tall and 155 lbs., the Nigerian will never be mistaken for Romelu Lukaku but he is capable of holding down the middle and letting West Brom's runners like Stephane Sessegnon and Saido Berahino play off of him. Never a huge goal scorer in either France (17 goals in 52 appearances) or Russia (33 in 74), he is coming into his prime at 25-years-old and could still have some upside for the Baggies in addition to providing the focal point that has been missing since Lukaku's loan spell ended. He would have to improve on his Dynamo Kiev goal-scoring rate while stepping up in competition to be a serious fantasy consideration.
