Chelsea are closing in on Vitesse Arnhem's midfielder Marco van Ginkel.

Marco van Ginkel is a highly rated Dutch midfielder who can be a great creator of chances. He has played well for the Dutch Under 21 team and had a great season for Vitesse. The youngster can start for many Premier League teams but Chelsea have a stacked attacking midfield and it's unknown if van Ginkel can claim a starting spot right away at Stamford Bridge.

Sunderland have terminated the contract of Adam Johnson after he plead guilty to two charges related to sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

Johnson has been at the center of a controversy surrounding this incident for some time. The club gave him ample time to exonerate himself but with news that he had plead guilty, they have moved to terminate his contract with immediate effect. Johnson scored the first goal in the Black Cats' late comeback against Liverpool on Saturday but that will apparently be his last contribution at the club.

Despite on-field frustrations, Bojan Krkic has signed a contract extension at Stoke City that will take him through the 2020 season.

Despite his name having been around at big clubs seemingly forever, Krkic is still only 25-years-old. From that point of view, the contract extension certainly makes sense for Stoke City. What is less clear is why they are doing it now given that Mark Hughes has left Bojan out of his starting line-up twice in Stoke City's past three Premier League matches. With the two parties married for the foreseeable future, we have to assume Bojan will get back to starting soon.

West Ham came through a bruising 120 minutes of football this week to guarantee their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup at the expense of Liverpool. However, the win came at a cost having picked up a number of injuries on the night.

Winston Reid and Joey O'Brien look set for a spell on the sidelines after the pair were forced off with hamstring related problems. A scan on Thursday will confirm the extent of the damage. Sam Byram is likely to come in at right-back while Angelo Ogbonna is poised for a recall. Slaven Bilic confirms James Tomkins (calf) "is out for five weeks" but Enner Valencia plus one / two others who suffered knocks "will be okay." Cheikhou Kouyate "is doing well" but because of the concussion guidelines the West Ham midfielder will not available for the trip to Carrow Road. Alex Song is back while Manuel Lanzini will re-join the group on Sunday. Diafra Sakho though, will be slightly longer "maybe five days after."

Roberto Martinez will make a late decision on Oumar Niasse who has been granted international clearance following his arrival from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow on deadline day.

The attacking midfielder has been working on his fitness and Martinez remains hopeful that Niasse will start training with the team on Friday in order to make a decision on his involvement. The Toffees boss will also run the rule over Tim Howard (knee) and John Stones (hamstring) who have stepped up there rehab for past three-days. They "should" be with the first team from today. Saturday will be too early for Mo Besic though, however, the midfielder is close. He should be ready for the FA Cup next weekend.

Alan Pardew confirmed that this weekend's match will come too soo for Yannick Bolasie and Bakary Sako, but the duo is in line to return to training next week.

Bolasie has missed the past six weeks with a leg injury and the Crystal Palace attack has struggled mightily in his absence with only three goals and no wins since Boxing Day. Upon his return, Bolasie could be a shrewd fantasy pickup considering his stellar second-half to last season. Sako is set to join him in full training next week as he recovers from a hamstring injury that has kept him out for a month. The former Wolves forward aggravated the injury upon his initial return after missing a month and has only made one appearance in the past two months.

Joe Ledley will face a late fitness test but Jason Puncheon has been sidelined for a "long period" and the Palace winger will not be available until March at the earliest.

However, there was better news for the Eagles. Dwight Gayle has trained this week and Alan Pardew remains "hopeful" that the striker will be available for the visit of Watford. Connor Wickham has be added to the squad after completing his ban for elbowing Jan Vertonghen. Bakary Sako and Yannick Bolasie are running, both "should be back to face Tottenham in the FA Cup" next weekend. James McArthur "could" play again this season after a specialist consultation confirmed his ankle ligament injury would not require surgery: "It will heal itself," said the surgeon.

Arsene Wenger has indicated that Danny Welbeck's recovery is continuing and that he could be ready for the club's FA Cup date with Hull City next weekend.

With Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joel Campbell all fit, the next question becomes how likely it is that Danny Welbeck will get significant minutes for Arsenal this season or at any time in the near future. Theo Walcott has proven effective at least occasionally in a central forward role and Joel Campbell has asserted himself in the race for minutes as a wide attacker. It leaves Welbeck's spot in serious question and makes a summer move seem like a real possibility if he can remain fit for the final few months of the season.

Arsene Wenger updated Santi Cazorla's status today indicating that the player is on a fitness program and that it will be weeks and not months until he is back playing.

The phrase "weeks not months" isn't exactly informative when it comes to estimating a return date. The implication, if you want to parse the words, is that it is less than two months which would line up with the original end of March/early April timeline that has been the prognosis for some time. Wenger certainly used language that could be interpreted as sooner than that but we'll wait until we hear about a specific match that is being targeted before we get too excited about an early return.

Ki Sung-Yueng is fit and available for selection according to Swansea City's official website, as the midfielder has successfully recovered from a concussion sustained last weekend.

Ki took a kick to the head two weekends ago from Stephane Sessegnon, causing him to miss the match against Palace this past weekend. Alberto Paloschi was given his starting debut against the Eagles, but did not have too much of an impact. It will be a bit of a guessing game to call what Francesco Guidolin plans to do this weekend against Southampton. He could put Ki back in place of Paloschi or someone else may drop out. Given the way the Saints defense are playing right now, no Swans are worth considering for fantasy purposes in attack outside of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Ayew.

Liverpool may have lost their FA Cup replay against West Ham yesterday but they did welcome Daniel Sturridge back to the pitch after he came in for Philippe Coutinho in the 59th minute.

Sturridge didn't do a great deal in his return registering three shots but failing to hit the target with any of them. Still, with Roberto Firmino playing out of position as a target forward for much of the past two months, the return of Sturridge could signal a boost to the Liverpool attack that would look much better with a healthy Sturridge supported by Firmino and an also-returning Coutinho. Of course we must take any "Sturridge is back" talk with a massive grain of salt since his recent history tells us that he's more likely to be out again soon with another injury than making a protracted run of starts.

Phillipe Coutinho marked his return from a hamstring injury by getting a start in the FA Cup replay against West Ham United.

Coutinho had been out of action for just over a month with a hamstring injury but was handed a start straight away upon his return. Liverpool lost the match in the final moments against the Hammers, but it was the Brazilian playmaker who equalized the affair shortly after the second half commenced, driving a free kick under the West Ham wall and into the net. His return will be welcome news to fantasy owners in draft leagues and he may be available at a discount in weekly salary leagues due to his prolonged absence, but he is not a recommended pickup in the FPL game. For one, the Reds have a blank immediately following the Week 26 round this weekend, not to mention he can be frustratingly streaky. Take away the four goals he scored in a three week span from gameweeks 11-13, he has scored just once on the season and that was opening day.
