Seamus Coleman will miss the trip to Thailand where Everton are playing a preseason friendly due to hamstring tightness.

Roberto Martinez stated it was a precautionary move so Coleman still looks set to start in the Toffees opener against Leicester City. They still have one remaining friendly in Germany this weekend so it's possible Coleman may miss that one as well. Should that happen, we should expect further details about his availability for the opener.

Alex Song was one of a number of key West Ham first team members to miss the defeat at Goodison Park on Saturday but the club remain confident their Cameroonian midfielder could return in time to face Newcastle in game week thirteen.

The Hammers were without Stewart Downing [knee], Diafra Sakho [back], Cheikhou Kouyate and Enner Valencia but West Ham chairman David Gold did confirm via his social media account that all five have a chance for this weekend to varying degrees – although there are concerns over the England international who reportedly had a pain-killing injection prior to the Scotland game to get him through the friendly match. Mark Noble will also be assessed after taking a knock early in the second half at Everton – worryingly the midfielder is set for scan amid fears the kick may have caused a muscle tear.

Nathaniel Clyne denied Aston Villa a much-needed win as his late goal rescued a point for a disappointing Southampton side.

What a couple of weeks it has been for Clyne, who built on his two England caps during the international break with another fine performance and the equalising goal in the Monday night Premier League match. The right-back smashed home Ryan Bertrand's cross with just nine minutes remaining after Gabriel Agbonlahor had put Villa ahead in the first half after an error from Fraser Forster. The Saints were far from their best but dominated the second half, and their pressure finally told to provide Ronald Koeman's men a deserved point.

Gabriel Agbonlahor scored for Aston Villa as they picked up an unexpected point against Southampton in the Monday night Premier League clash.

This was a vastly improved performance from Aston Villa, who were well organised from the start and took a first half lead when Agbonlahor took advantage of an error of judgement from Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster. Paul Lambert's men resisted an onslaught from the Saints in the second half, that was until the 81st minute when Nathaniel Clyne scored a fine goal to deny the home side a vital three points. Still, a point moves Villa a little further from the relegation zone, up to 16th.

Wojciech Szczesny suffered a double whammy on Saturday as the goalkeeper was not only taken out by his own defender resulting in the opening goal at home to Manchester United but the injury forced the Polish international off with less than 15 minutes gone in the second half.

In an attempt to clear an in swinging cross from Ashley Young Szczesny came scampering off his line and collided with full-back Kieran Gibbs who was the recipient of an unnoticed Marouane Fellaini push – as both players remained on the floor the onrushing Antonio Valencia slammed the ball back into the box only for the outstretched leg of Gibbs to divert the ball into his own net. Szczesny remained down and following treatment a decision was made to introduce Damian Martinez despite the keeper wanting to continue. Post-match Wenger revealed the problem was not serious – hip injury - although his participation in the UCL against Dortmund is in serious doubt. He joins David Ospina on the sidelines meaning youngster Ryan Huddart could make the squad on Wednesday.

Roberto Martinez will be happy his Everton side were able to come away with all three points this weekend as his injury-ravaged squad were just able to edge out West Ham at Goodison Park.

The Toffees went into game week 12 with up to eleven players at risk or ruled out through injury while Aidan McGeady was another late omission following a bout of sickness. Leighton Baines, Steven Pienaar and Darron Gibson all failed late fitness tests but Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy were able to start the game. However the biggest surprise was the inclusion of Belgium winger Kevin Mirallas - having missed the previous two months – who managed to complete 66 minutes before his replacement Samuel Eto’o scored the winning goal. But as the game was drawing to a close Steven Naismith overstretched for a ball causing a muscular tear – his withdrawal will almost certainly mean a spell on the sidelines although the initial assessment revealed the problem won’t "keep him out for too long."

Newcastle were hoping to make it five Premier League wins on the spin as Queens Park Rangers came to St James’ Park having failed to take a single point on the road this season. However the home were missing a number of key players as Alan Pardew was forced to reshuffle his side.

With Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor both missing central defensive duties were left to the returning Mike Williamson and Paul Dummett but it was in midfield where the Geordies were struggling. Cheick Tiote, Mehdi Abeid and Gabriel Obertan were all ruled out which meant Ryan Taylor was afforded his first Premier League start in over two-and-a-half years following injury and it was the returning defensively midfielder who left the field in tears on 34 minutes. Taylor broke down unchallenged in the first half and following a quick assessment it became apparent he could no longer continue – although tests on his knee are still ongoing – the player himself has confirmed there are "no major problems."

Cristian Eriksen lead the way for Tottenham to a 2-1 win over Hull City.

Eriksen was very active after Hull City went down to 10 men due to Gaston Ramirez being sent off. The midfielder hit a stunning a free kick which bounced off the post and into Harry Kane's lap, who tapped it in for the first goal. Eriksen then proceeded to score in stoppage time to give Spurs the win. The red card really hurt the Tigers as they had control of the game before that and they'll have Ramirez to blame for this result. Spurs are now in 10th place but are only two points away from fourth, providing us with one of the best races for Europe we've seen in recent years.

Crystal Palace shook off an early Liverpool goal and gradually took over the contest, with a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes making the difference as the Eagles win 3-1.

Down a goal after 90 seconds, Palace could have been in for a long day but Dwight Gayle leveled things after 17 minutes and the crowd at Selhurst Park could smell blood. Gayle was gifted a kind rebound from a Bolasie strike that clanked straight off the post and squeaked it past Simon Mignolet. The Eagles went into an extra gear in the second half and again Bolasie was at the center of seemingly every chance. Impossible to contain, he was drawing extra defenders toward him whenever he was on the ball and that opened up space for others. He would find Joe Ledley wide open in the 78th minute and Ledley nutmegged Mignolet to give the Eagles the lead. They would put the game to bed when Mile Jedinak scored his fourth of the season with a picture perfect deep free kick that no keeper could reach. Now out of the relegation zone, Palace will look to build off the win when they travel to Swansea next.

Liverpool continue their poor start to the season by squandering an early advantage and eventually were outmatched by Crystal Palace in a 3-1 loss.

The day began perfectly. Lambert, a Liverpool native, scored his first goal for his childhood club just 90 seconds in. Adam Lallana delivered a fantastic deep lob pass directly to Lambert's foot as he entered the area, and Lambert finished in what looked like footage from Southampton 2013. The wheels began to fall off though as the Eagles tightened up in the back and Pool reverted back to their lackluster attacking display. Pool are facing their worst season after 12 matches since the first season of the Premier League in 1992. Brendan Rodgers has to make some drastic changes post haste.

Newcastle United continued their sizzling form by winning their fifth consecutive league match and sixth overall as Moussa Sissoko unlocked a goalless affair late on as the Magpies defeat QPR 1-0.

For once, we can anoint a hero not named Ayoze Perez in quite some time. All the credit is deserved for such a fine run of form for Newcastle, but it has not always been in dominant and convincing fashion and today was no exception. The defense, minus Fabricio Coloccini, were able to handle a relatively weak Rangers attack but it was a bittersweet afternoon when Ryan Taylor was forced off with what appeared to be yet another knee injury. The goal was a result of a lively build up, and it was a give and go with Sammy Ameobi that freed Sissoko and created enough space for him to beat the keeper. The Magpies travel to West Ham next in an attempt to keep the streak alive in what promises to be a marquee match.

Diego Costa continued his fine scoring form in Chelsea's straight forward 2-0 home win against West Brom.

We might have expected more from both Costa and Chelsea given the number of good chances Costa had (at least three) and the advantage Chelsea had (up a man for a significant portion of the match). Regardless, Costa took a beautiful Oscar cross on his chest and drove it home for an early 1-0 lead. Eden Hazard scored from a short Cesc Fabregas corner later in the first half for the final score.
