Reports indicate that Southampton should know in short order whether they will land Argentina international Marcos Rojo to replace Luke Shaw at left back.

The exodus from the St. Mary's has been well-documented but the signing of a high profile World Cup left back to replace Luke Shaw, and doing so at a fraction of Shaw's price, would go a long way to mollifying Saints supporters. Grazziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic have the pedigree to replace Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana but not much has been done to replace Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovern and Calum Chambers at the back. A move for Rojo would certainly be a big improvement over Ryan Bertrand in rebuilding the defense and fantasy managers would have to be on alert to a potential bargain in Rojo.

Sylvain Distin has picked up an illness this week and will need to be assessed before getting the go-ahead for what would be the final match of his career tomorrow against Tottenham.

The Martinez quote in the tweet that this news is attached to states that "We hope he (Distin) can make a farewell appearance on Sunday." Judging by his turn of phrase, even if Distin is a full go, it doesn't appear he will play any more of a role than a cameo substitution in the latter stages of the match, unless of course an injury or a sending off results in an earlier substitution. For fantasy owners, it is a situation to avoid.

Liam Bridcutt has failed to recover from injury in time to face champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the final day of the 2014/15 British Premier League season.

Bridcutt returned to the starting line-up against Leicester last weekend replacing the injured Jordi Gomez [fractured patella] but the winger was replaced on the hour mark after taking a knock to the knee. It was hoped that Bridcutt could play a part on Sunday but having secured their top-flight status at the Emirates midweek Dick Advocaat will take no risks and Adam Johnson looks set to retain his place. Lee Cattermole could also miss out – the midfielder has accumulated 14 yellow cards this season [joint BPL high] and one more caution would see a suspension carried over to the beginning of the 2015/16 campaign. Duncan Watmore is on standby should Danny Graham fail to recover from an ankle injury.

Emmanuel Adebayor has been allowed to return to his homeland - Togo - for personal reasons.

Adebayor has been practically replaced by Harry Kane in the Tottenham rotation this season so he won't be missed in the final gameweek. Tottenham face Everton tomorrow and will be fighting for points as they battle for a spot in the Europa Cup. Adebayor's future at Tottenham is shady at best and he will have to answer a number of questions in the summer. His fantasy value for next season will largely depend on where he lands in the transfer market.

Wes Brown will miss the last match of the season due to a knee injury.

The 35-year old has played 25 matches for Sunderland this year but will be missing in week 38 due to a knee injury. No Sunderland players are really worth owning in regular formats this week since they face a tough match against Chelsea.

Nigel Pearson praised Jamie Vardy, who has established himself as a consistent option for Leicester.

Vardy has been called into the England squad for their upcoming matches against the Republic of Ireland and Slovenia and his manager, Nigel Pearson, has praised him. Vardy has been fantastic for the past two months and has earned the call-up. Pearson also noted that he doesn't expect Leicester to spend big this summer and will instead rely on the development of his squad for next season. If that turns out to be true, Vardy will be a solid fantasy pick in drafts next year.

Costel Pantilimon will not be risked in gameweek 38 with a knee injury.

Sunderland have successfully avoided relegation and there is zero reason for them to risk their goalkeeper with a knee injury. The injury is not supposed to be very serious and shouldn't be a problem for next season. Vito Mannone is expected to start for the first time this year but is not a good fantasy option against Chelsea.

Mario Balotelli is a doubt for Liverpool's last match of the season, perhaps missing out on the final game of his beleaguered first season with the Reds.

To think that Balotelli was brought in to at least make up a bit of the production that Luis Suarez brought to Liverpool must seem laughable to everyone by now. Balotelli has one league goal on the season and it seems management are happy to use any minor ailment he may have as an excuse to keep him off of the pitch. With his exit this summer all but a lock, Steven Gerrard moving to MLS and Raheem Sterling's future quite unclear, we will likely see a very different looking club come August.

Tim Sherwood is convinced that Christian Benteke will stay at Aston Villa despite the interest of bigger clubs.

Benteke's late season goal surge has resulted in 15 goals for the striker and he once again looks like himself after a prolonged injury absence. The big clubs are again rumored to be going after him, but Tim Sherwood is more than convinced he'll stay. Sherwood says Benteke is happy at the club and wants to be there next season. Regardless of where he ends up, Benteke will have a lot of fantasy value next season if he can stay healthy.

Nathan Baker will miss Aston Villa's last match of the season with a knee problem.

Baker is still recovering from his knee injury and has been ruled out of Aston Villa's match against Burnley this weekend. Villa have already secured a spot in the Premier League for next season so it's unlikely that they risk Baker ahead of their FA Cup final six days later. Nathan Baker's fantasy season is effectively over and he will hold very little value for next season as well.

Tim Sherwood says he won't rest players in gameweek 38 ahead of Aston Villa's FA Cup final just six days later.

Aston Villa have avoided relegation so they have nothing to play for in the final week, but Sherwood insists he won't rest players. Six days is plenty of rest for professional players so we would assume he isn't lying to us. Use Aston Villa players in fantasy this weekend with confidence, especially in an easy match against Burnley.

James Tomkins is hopeful to feature in West Ham's last match of the season.

Tomkins has missed several matches due to a dislocated shoulder but he is back at training and hopeful to feature in the last match. Due to the uncertainty, we'd recommend avoiding him in fantasy. Either way, he should be good to go for the beginning of next seasons and he's been good enough this year to earn a spot in the rotation going forward.
