Kyle Walker is expected to miss the start of the new British Premier League season as he continues his recovery from an on-going groin issue.

Kyle Walker has seen a groin problem not only curtail his season back in March but also denied the defender a place at the World Cup. His fleeting 45 minute cameo against Toronto FC in July has been his last action since Mauricio Pochettino took over. Kyle Walker has trained sporadically with the first team throughout preseason and there seems to be little or no indication of when the full-back may return to first team duties.

Tottenham officially announced that winger Erik Lamela will have surgery to repair a persistent hip problem.

The Argentine playmaker has been out since early November after suffering what was thought to be a minor hip injury. Nearly five months, a trip to Argentina and rehab in Rome later, Lamela is back to square one and will have surgery that will rule him out for the rest of the season. The winger made only 14 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals. Said the club in a statement: "The player has achieved a good level of function, however he has been unable to reach the stage required to make a full return to training. Therefore, following ongoing extensive consultation with specialists, surgery has been agreed by all as the best course of action."

Manchester United fans will be pleased to hear that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is currently holding contract talks with the club.

Manchester United has a club option already activated for next season, but it is still up to the 35-year-old to choose to stay, and rumors have swirled in recent weeks of interest from Los Angeles Galaxy, the Chinese Super League and even Serie A. But Ibrahimovic said he is still in talks with the Red Devils after scoring 15 Premier League goals and 26 in all competitions this season: "I never leave a job unfinished. I always go in, do my job, and in the way that is a fair play, a fair deal, that is what I do. Let’s see what happens, we are talking. I have an option for another year, I want to do great as long as I’m here, so let us see, there is a lot of time."

Jose Mourinho provided a mixed injury update ahead of his sides clash with West Brom this weekend.

As expected, defenders Chris Smalling [knee] and Phil Jones [toe] will miss out, although there has been no official update on how long either will be sidelined. Both players were injured while on international duty amid reports that they could be unavailable for between 4-6 weeks. The United boss also "thinks" Paul Pogba will fail to recover from a hamstring strain while Zlatan Ibrahimović and Ander Herrera serve the final game of their domestic ban. On a more positive note, it looks like Wayne Rooney will come back into contention after a knee injury and Marouane Fellaini is fine following his release from the Belgium squad due to a top complaint. Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia and Sergio Romero will be assessed on their return from international duty, however, there are no obvious issues with the trio.

Slaven Bilic received an unexpected boost following Michail Antonio's return to light training on Tuesday.

The West Ham winger was one of three casualties during the home defeat by Leicester City [GW29], with initial reports suggesting Antonio could miss up-to a month. But, the 26-year-old has made excellent progress during the international break, and he could rejoin the main group ahead of the trip to Arsenal in seven days. Elsewhere, the news regarding Pedro Obiang and Winston Reid is not so good. Only Reid has a chance of playing again this season after Obiang was ruled out until July having undergone ankle surgery. The New Zealand captain could be back in late-April. Diafra Sakho and Angelo Ogbonna are battling to save their seasons due to respective back and knee injuries, however, Mark Noble will be contention to face Hull after recovering from the dead leg he initially sustained against Chelsea almost a month ago.

Manchester United will not be too disappointed that they received no transfer fee for Bastian Schweinsteiger's move to the MLS.

The World Cup winner and former German international announced his move to Chicago Fire on his Twitter account on the 21st of March, but that move was subject to him acquiring a visa and passing a medical. All of these formalities have been completed by the central midfielder at this point, and he will arrive at O'Hare Airport today to fanfare. From his former club Manchester United's point of view, the deal has worked out well too. Both club and player feared that there would be little interest in Schweini by the summer transfer window and so by letting him go now, Man Utd saved £6 million plus in wages as per his contract which ran until 2018, which would have been a huge figure for a player exiled from the first team squad by manager Jose Mourinho.

Out-of-favour Manchester United striker and record goalscorer Wayne Rooney may not find it easy to get a move to the MLS.

The United skipper has been reduced to a fringe player in 2017, with just one PL start to his credit since the new year. After losing his place, he has been linked to his boyhood club Everton, along with teams in both China and the MLS. However, according to Houston Dynamo's president Chris Canetti, MLS teams may not queue up to acquire the England international to try and recreate the hype around David Beckham's move a decade ago: "David Beckham brought worldwide relevance to Major League Soccer. He was a trailblazer for other players to look to come over and he opened a lot of eyes... I'm not sure if Rooney is as big a brand - just because Beckham was so pop culture". He clarified further saying: "But with David Beckham, you don't need to be a football fan to know who he is and what he represents."

Aaron Cresswell has taken a firm stance in support of Slaven Bilic, amid speculation the manager could be replaced at the end of the season because of the club's worrying run of form.

The pressure is on Slaven Bilic to right the ship at the London Stadium after a disappointing run of three successive defeats. In the wake of the 3-2 home defeat to Leicester City on March 18, which dropped the Hammers to 12th in the table, a report emerged that Bilic could be replaced at the end of the term by Reading manager Jaap Stam. Although West Ham have not won since February 4, Cresswell insists the dressing room is backing Bilic. "If you ask any of the players, they would say the same, we are fully behind him and fully supportive of him," the left-back told Sky Sports News HQ. "Hopefully we can turn it around and take that pressure off everyone."

Leicester City striker Shinji Okazaki scored his 50th goal for Japan in a 4-0 2018 World Cup qualification victory over Thailand on Tuesday.

Okazaki concluded Leicester City's international representation on Tuesday in fine fashion. The 30-year-old celebrated his 108th international appearance with a diving header midway through the first-half to become just third Blue Samuari to score 50 goals international goals. Okazaki is the 55th male player to hit the half-century of international goals but is one of only nine active internationals on the list, including Cristiano Ronaldo (70), Lionel Messi (58), Wayne Rooney (53) and Neymar (51).

Liverpool was dealt a heavy blow on Tuesday with the news that midfielder Adam Lallana will miss around four weeks.

The star midfielder sustained a thigh injury in the late stages of England's World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Sunday, and the injury has become progressively worse over the last few days. Now Lallana is set to miss up to a month and has already been ruled out of the club's next three fixtures over the course of the next 10 days, including the Merseyside derby against Everton this weekend. The former Southampton standout is one of Liverpool's top producers with seven goals and seven assists in the Premier League this season. However, Jordan Henderson could slide right back into the starting lineup if deemed fit following a foot injury.

Dimitri Seluk, the agent of Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has raised more controversy with his recent comments.

Toure is entering the final months of his contract and, after reviving his career at Manchester City over the last few months, Seluk said he is in talks with clubs from Italy and Spain over a free transfer. However, Seluk said if Manchester United came calling he would negotiate despite the two clubs' rivalry: "Why not? Jose Mourinho is a very good coach. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was together with Yaya in Barcelona...We waited until March 15 for what Manchester City will say but until now Manchester City don't say anything. Before March, we didn't negotiate with anybody because Yaya does a lot with Manchester City, so we waited. But we cannot wait until the last minute, until June and have no negotiations with anybody."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp put to rest rumors of unrest surrounding the future of Emre Can at the club.

Reports suggested Can was in a contract standoff with the club after demanding the club double his current wage package of £35,000-a-week with Juventus monitoring the 23-year-old's current contract situation. But with more than a year still left on his current deal, Can is expected to sign a new deal with talks ongoing, according to Klopp. "It actually makes no sense to talk about it, but because I obviously heard there was a story out there… yes, we are in talks, what can I say? They are good, because Emre likes to be here. We really like him as a person and as a player. So there are talks, there is nothing else to say."
