Sky Sports is reporting that Manchester United is close to bringing Marcos Rojo to Old Trafford to play as the left defender in Louis Van Gaal's 3-5-2 formation.

After a relatively quiet summer for a club that fell so short of expectations last season, Manchester United could be slowly putting their transfer machine into gear. Sky's report goes on to indicate that Rojo has handed in a transfer request to Sporting Lisbon in an effort to push the move through. Earlier reports indicated that Sporting and United had yet to agree on a price for the Argentine but it certainly sounds like things are going in the right direction for a move.

Francis Coquelin looks set to spend to a number of weeks on the sidelines after injuring his knee during a dominant Arsenal display against Chelsea at the Emirates.

The defensive midfielder failed to shake off the after-effects of a brave block at the edge of his area leaving him unable to continue. Coquelin has started all but one of Arsenal's Premier League games this season but this latest setback could mean an extended period out: "He has a knee injury at the same place he had last year at West Brom," mused Arsène Wenger. "That's the negative of the day." The Arsenal boss was referencing a medial knee ligament injury suffered in November last year which keep Coquelin out for two-months. Fortunately, the Gunners have an adequate replacement in the form of Granit Xhaka, although with the news that Aaron Ramsey is likely to miss out again this weekend, they can’t afford too many more injuries.

Crystal Palace were forced into a slight switch of personnel for Saturdays’ trip to the Stadium of Light following injuries to key players.

Alan Pardew had made a raft of changes for the midweek EFL Cup match at Southampton [eight in total], but of the three first team regulars who played, two left St Marys’ injured ruling them out of the Sunderland game. Ever-present [and joint top scorer] Scott Dann limped off after just 19 minutes due to a muscular problem while Wilfried Zaha completed the match but minor hamstring discomfort meant the winger did not travel to Wearside. Fortunately, the Eagles were still able to secure three-points despite finding themselves 2-nil down after an hour. Christian Benteke grabbed a last-gasp winner deep into injury time leaving the Black Cats firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

Southampton comprehensively outplayed West Ham at the London stadium, heaping even more pressure on Slaven Bilic.

The 3-0 scoreline actually served to flatter West Ham, who were dreadful for long periods of the game, mustering a single shot on target in the whole 90 minutes. They sit in the relegation zone on 3 points. Charlie Austin opened the scoring with yet another goal, a left footer into the bottom corner after a Bertrand cut-back. Austin next put Tadic in one on one with a through ball, the Serb passed by Adrian without touching the ball. Ward-Prowse added a deserved third in injury time. If the Saints were as clinical as they should be, they could have had 7. Lanzini and Noble were particularly disappointing for the Irons, though Antonio and Payet also failed to influence the game too much.

Summer signing Moussa Sissoko seems certain to miss Tuesdays’ trip to Moscow in the Champions League after he was replaced at the Riverside because of a head injury.

"Moussa is a doubt," said Mauricio Pochettino post-match. "He has….. Yes, yes, a possible concussion." If confirmed, then Sissoko would miss at least one game due to the Football Associations concussion protocol which stipulates ‘the player should not be allowed to play for at least 6 days after the injury.’ Erik Lamela is expected to fill the void having found himself on the fringes of the starting XI in the league, no starts since August, after Heung-Min Son became Pochettino’s go to man following a string of sparkling performances.

Kevin de Bruyne is hoping the hamstring injury he suffered at Swansea on Saturday will only keep him out for a couple of weeks.

The City playmaker will have a scan today to help determine the extent of the damage but De Bruyne is almost certain to miss Wednesdays’ Champions League tie against Celtic and next weekends’ trip to White Hart Lane. Speaking post-match, Pep Guardiola had this to say: "From the way her reacted, I think it's a muscular injury but I am not a doctor. I don't know how serious it is so we will travel back and then see what the doctor says." With Nolito suspended until after the international break, the absence of De Bruyne could see Jesus Navas return to the side unless Guardiola fancies a slight change of formation with Kelechi Iheanacho partnering Sergio Aguero in a 4-4-2.

Sergio Aguero returned in fine form after a three-match ban, as he scored twice in Manchester City's 3-1 win over Swansea City.

Aguero once again proved why he is one of the best strikers in the Premier League. The Argentine opened the scoring against Swansea with a superb strike in the 9th minute and added a second with a composed spot kick in the 65th. The victory was then sealed in the 77th minute when Raheem Sterling scored after a well worked counter-attack. Aguero has now scored five in four matches, while Manchester City remain atop the table and unbeaten this season.

Alexis Sanchez scored a goal and recorded an assist as Arsenal disposed of Chelsea at the Emirates, 3-0.

Arsenal were firing on all cylinders in a first half that saw Sanchez wreck havoc on Chelsea's defense. The Chilean made his first contribution of the match in the 11th minute, when he picked up a poor back pass, and chipped Courtois to take a 1-0 lead. Arsenal went on to extend their advantage three minutes later, through Theo Walcott, and again in the 40th minute. The third goal was a work of beauty as Sanchez clipped a ball, over Gary Cahill and David Luiz, to Meshut Ozil who struck a splendid volley over Courtois and in off the post. Sanchez's man of the match performance was central to Arsenal's fourth straight victory, while his goal saw him extend his scoring streak (three goals in his past two matches).

Cesc Fabregas made his first start of the season in Chelsea's 3-0 loss at Arsenal on Saturday.

Fabregas earned the start after scoring twice in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, but his inclusion in the starting XI wasn't enough to save Chelsea against his former club. The Blues were outplayed by Arsenal in the first half, conceding three goals before the interval, while the former Gunner was replaced in the 55th minute by defender Marcos Alonso. Fabregas, who started 33 matches and assisted on seven goals last season, has played just 87 minutes for Antonio Conte this campaign.

Fernando Llorente scored a goal (two shots on target) in Swansea City's loss to Manchester City on Saturday, 3-1.

Llorente leveled the match, with a crack of a finish, when he smashed a half-volley home in the 11th minute - his first goal of the season. However, a brace from Sergio Aguero and a late goal from Raheem Sterling saw Manchester City prove too much for the Swans to overcome. Swansea will look to bounce back next week - in another tough matchup - against Liverpool.

Manchester United squashed all the negativity surrounding their recent three game losing streak by exploding for four goals in the first half and comfortably disposing of Leicester City, 4-1.

There was one significant change for the Red Devils today and it has to be said it was the key to their success. Wayne Rooney was dropped for this one and Juan Mata was given a rare chance in the #10 role and he absolutely thrived in it, as United had a free-flowing attack we haven't seen for some time. They torched the Foxes with three goals from set pieces, the first of which came when Chris Smalling headed home a Daley Blind corner. Jesse Lingard then found Mata who struck with his left foot to make it 2-0. The rout was on from there. Another Blind corner was played short to Mata and he picked out Marcus Rashford who scored from point blank range. Then a final goal came whe Paul Pogba opened his account, heading home yet another Blind corner. You have to think Jose Mourinho will keep this new-look attack intact for United's next match against a poor Stoke City defense.

Salomon Rondon scored from a corner in stoppage time to cancel out Joe Allen's opener and rescue a point for traveling Albion.

It was always going to be something of a grinding affair between a side managed by Tony Pulis and one managed by Mark Hughes. It looked like the Potters were going to pick up their first win of the season until Salomon Rondon came through in stoppage time to win a good away point for Albion.
