Harry Redknapp is confident Loic Remy will be available for Saturdays season opener against Hull City.

The Queens Park Rangers coach confirmed during today’s pre-match press conference that the striker has trained ahead of the game and the early indications are good. Redknapp commented on the player’s commitment and attitude since the breakdown of his proposed move to Liverpool suggesting Remy will be involved in some capacity. However Adel Taarabt is set to miss out having failed to train since his return from a loan spell in Italy; the Moroccan international is hoping to secure a move away from Loftus Road.

Alexis Sanchez capitalized on two horrible Sunderland mistakes for the only goals of a match where Arsenal will be flattered by the 2-0 scoreline.

For the second week in a row Sunderland were in a very giving mood. Arsenal weren't very good on their own but when Sunderland, first in the form of Wes Brown and then in the form of Vito Mannone, gifted Sanchez golden opportunities in alone on net he made no mistake. On either side of halftime the Chilean took a free shot on goal. Other than those Sunderland-generated chances, Arsenal didn't produce much on the day. To add injury to insult, Kieran Gibbs went off with yet another injury, this time apparently to his hip.

Sunderland mistakes effectively threw away a good home point against an Arsenal team that looked completely out of sorts as the Black Cats lost 2-0 to the Gunners.

Vito Mannone's position has to be up for serious debate after his howler late in the match leading to an Alexis Sanchez goal helped seal a 2-0 Arsenal victory. The former Arsenal reserve's mistake compounded the first half mis-kick from Wes Brown which also led to an Alexis Sanchez goal. After giving up eight goals to Southampton last weekend you get the sense that no one at the Stadium of Light is, or should be, safe in their job.

Liverpool dropped points at home to Hull City, settling for a 0-0 draw in which Mario Balotelli once again could not grab his first PL goal in a Reds shirt.

He grabs headlines when he scores, he grabs headlines when he doesn't. No matter how you slice it, Balotelli cannot help but grab headlines. Liverpool fans and fantasy owners would rather see him grab something else - A goal. The opportunities were there. Liverpool enjoyed a better than 2 to 1 possession battle, took 14 corners to the Tigers' just one, and had an 11 to 4 shot on target advantage. Alas, chance after chance went frustratingly unfinished, including a stoppage time flurry that came up empty. The Reds defense were mostly untested but credit is still due for keeping Hull out on their end. The return of Daniel Sturridge is needed to jump start the attack, he cannot come back fast enough.

Sadio Mane scored to give Southampton a 1-0 win over Stoke City and take his team to second place in the standings.

The Saints played another spectacular match and this time it was Sadio Mane who took them to victory. The young winger scored from inside the penalty box on a rebound off of a Grazianno Pelle shot. Pelle was unlucky in this one as he hit the woodwork more than once. Dusan Tadic was by far their best player once again and almost scored himself but kept being denied. All three of the Saints attackers are great options as we go forward with this season.

Arsenal are expecting Aaron Ramsey to return to Premier League action when they face Sunderland in gameweek 9.

The midfielder played the full 90 minutes against Anderlecht and should draw another start here as Arsenal are missing a number of important players from midfield including Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil. Ramsey has been spectacular in the past two season when he's been able to stay healthy and we would recommend him in a favorable matchup this week.

West Ham United continued their fine season to date with a spirited 2-1 defeat of Manchester City, the game-winning goal coming from red hot Diafra Sakho.

West Ham are sitting squarely 4th in the table and unless Liverpool go crazy later today, the Hammers will remain fourth at gameweek's end. Their success this season has to be credited in large by their new attack, spearheaded by Sakho and Enner Valencia who are both proving to be a handful for some of the world's best defenders. It is Sakho who is reaping the fantasy benefits more, scoring now in his 5th consecutive match after he headed home a perfect cross by Aaron Cresswell. Morgan Amalfitano grabbed the game's first goal. There are plenty of attractive fixtures ahead for West Ham. Sakho is looking like a premium 3rd forward to own.

David Silva scored a world class goal for Manchester City today, but the woodwork appeared to be the 12th man for the opposition as West Ham would go on to defeat the defending champions, 2-1.

After their thumping of Spurs last week, investment in City players was understandably high heading into this gameweek, with Sergio Aguero a must-own, but unless you had Silva in your side, you probably aren't too happy with the returns. It wasn't from a lack of chances, to be sure. While somewhat lethargic in the first half, European competition and travel may have something to do with that, they were swarming the Hammer final third for most of the 2nd period. Aguero took seven shots in all, with two on target, but it was the one off-target that smashed the bar from point blank range that will be remembered. Yaya Toure also hit woodwork in a later surge. Only Silva could find paydirt, after finishing a sublime run and strike. Credit to West Ham, who proved today that their place in the table is no fluke. Its the Manchester Derby up next for the Sky Blues.

The latest word from Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho regarding the availability of his prizes striker Diego Costa is that "he has a little chance" of being fit for the showdown on Sunday with Manchester United.

The status of Costa is as cloudy as ever, and many a manger will have to make tough decisions with their fantasy XI's as the deadline looms. One would have to imagine though that the best case scenario for Costa is a start, but no more than an hour of pitch time. It may be a likelier scenario that he begins the match on the bench, Mourinho deploys one of Didier Drogba or Andre Schurrle up top, and Costa comes on at the hour mark. Either way, one is playing a game of chance this weekend. Even if you pick the right starter, whoever that may be does not look to get a full shift in.

Arsenal's defensive woes continue with the news that Laurent Koscielny will likely be out until after the international break if not longer.

Arsene Wenger wasn't precise on Koscielny's prognosis in his press conference leading up to the Week 9 match-up with Sunderland but what seemed clear is that the French international is likely to be absent through the mid-November international break. Calum Chambers will return from his suspension which will ease some of the defensive issues but it seems likely that Arsenal will continue to depend on Nacho Monreal to deputize at center back which isn't ideal.

Ben Foster returned to training following a minor calf problem and Alan Irvine will have to decide between he and Boaz Myhill for the visit of Crystal Palace.

Boaz Myhill helped the Baggies earn a point against Manchester United which might get him the benefit of the doubt if there is even a little concern over Foster's health for Week 9. With Palace the opponent it is legitimate to consider whichever player starts a reasonable fantasy play in unique-ownership leagues or even salary cap leagues where you need a bargain in goal to spend elsewhere. The only thing holding you back from the West Brom keeper this week will be knowing which one will play.
Oct 24 - 4:53 PM

Geoff Cameron will likely return to the Stoke City starting line-up for the Week 9 match-up against Southampton with the only question being where he might start.

The versatile Cameron can play center back, holding midfield and right back and two of those three spots have potential vacancies for the Potters this week. Phil Bardsley is doubtful due to a back issue and Andy Wilkinson has joined Milwall on loan which means the most likely option is Cameron deputizing at right back. The other alternative is holding midfield where Glenn Whelan is definitely out with a broken leg. Either way, Cameron is an OK option in that he's likely to start but not spectacular in that it seems unlikely that Mark Hughes' squad will keep a clean sheet or have the upper hand against the team that scored eight last weekend.
