England youth international Jesse Lingard has been photographed leaving hospital after the midfielder suffered a knee injury during Saturdays’ loss to Swansea City.

Injury problems mount for Manchester United as Jesse Lingard looks set for an extended spell on the side-lines; the youngster was making his first competitive start for his club side in the season opener but lasted only 24 minutes as he overstretched to challenge Ashley Williams. Lingard limped away from Bridgewater Hospital in Manchester today on crutches with his knee fixed in a hinged brace; a support typically associated with ligament damage. Louis van Gaal could now be forced to quickly add to his current squad with potentially up to ten first team players out of next weekend’s clash against Sunderland.

Michael Kightly, one of the few Burnley players with any top flight experience at the start of the season, looks to be a forgotten man at Turf Moor these days.

The Clarets do not have deep pockets to put it mildly, so even though Kightly isn't exactly All-World, when he was signed to a permanent deal from Stoke City after a successful loan spell saw him help Burnley gain promotion last season, it was for them, a major acquisition. However, the bigger impact signing has been George Boyd, who has nailed down a wide midfield position opposite Scott Arfield, and Sean Dyche has shown to keep the changes to his XI at a minimum. When Dean Marney went down injured, it could have opened the door for Kightly, but instead Ashley Barnes is out wide with Arfield tucked inside and Kightly hasn't so much as earned an appearance as a substitute for the past two matches. It wouldn't be surprising to see him request a transfer this summer.

Kevin Mirallas has been sidelined for the past three league games due to a dead leg picked up against Dynamo Kiev but is pushing for a return next weekend when the Toffees host Southampton.

Roberto Martinez expressed confidence earlier in the week that the Belgian would be back in action immediately after the international break but has since admitted that his availability for the match against the Saints is still in question. Unless there is extremely positive news heading into next weekend, it would be wise to avoid Mirallas for fear he may not start. However, his price in the Yahoo game has dropped drastically in recent weeks and is an absolute bargain once he gets his spot back. He is one to monitor for a barndoor move the next time his name makes Martinez's XI.

Leon Britton is hoping to return to training next week after missing the win at Villa Park because of a pre-existing back problem.

Britton has suffered from a bulging disc for the past two seasons and the problem flared up again during training in the build-up to GW30 – the latest in a line of injury niggles this year. The 32 year-old midfielder didn’t begin his season until November because of a bruised patella and a minor groin strain, illness plus further knee issues have restricted Britton to just six league starts but the player is determined to return following an excellent Swansea campaign. Although competition for places is fierce with Ki Sung-Yueng, Jonjo Shelvey, loanee Tom Carroll, Jay Fulton and January acquisition Jack Cork competing for a starting berth Leon Britton is confident he can force his way into the side to finish the season on a high.

Danny Welbeck will return to Arsenal after picking up an injury during Friday nights’ comfortable Euro 2016 victory over Lithuania at Wembley.

Hodgson had already planned to replace Welbeck but a knee injury forced his withdrawal as the game entered its final phase. With a crucial Premier League match against Liverpool coming up England will take no risks given Tuesdays’ fixture in Italy is a non-competitive friendly. Post-match Hodgson confirmed Welbeck had "tweaked his knee" and he will continue to be assessed over the next 24/48 hours although the medical team aren’t overly concerned at this point. England could travel to Turin with only [17] outfield players having seen Leighton Baines, Raheem Sterling and James Milner return to their respective clubs however Ryan Bertrand has been "invited" to join the group.

The knock Simon Mignolet picked up in Liverpool's loss to Manchester United last weekend was not serious and the Belgian international is fit to play for his country during the international break.

Mignolet is behind Thibaut Courtois on the Belgian keeper depth chart but appears to be set to back up the Chelsea man for Belgium tomorrow as they take on Cyprus and then they face Israel on Tuesday. For fantasy managers and Liverpool fans though, what matters is that the Reds' #1 will be between the sticks against Arsenal in their next league game.

Scans on Daniel Sturridge's hip did not come back clean and the striker is looking at up to a month on the sideline according to England manager Roy Hodgson.

A slight tear was found in the hip flexor muscle for Sturridge, so it will certainly take to heal. The timetable seems to open the door for an earlier return so with no league matches this weekend, perhaps one can only rule him out for Week 31's match against Arsenal for now. However long it takes, Brendan Rodgers will need to think about whether to start Mario Balotelli up top, who should be starting in this situation considering his wages, or to deploy Raheem Sterling there as he has at times this season. Ricky Lambert seems no more than depth at this point though perhaps he will enter Rodgers' thinking as well. Sterling is a solid investment no matter where he plays on the pitch, but a striker role certainly bumps his value.

Roberto Martinez is hoping Darron Gibson will be available to face Southampton in GW31 following the Everton midfielders withdrawal from the Republic of Ireland squad due to a minor abdominal strain.

Gibson is one of a handful of players currently undergoing treatment at Finch Farm with Arouna Kone [knee & ankle] and Kevin Mirallas [dead leg] targeting a quick return while Romelu Lukaku [hamstring] is recovering with his national team in Belgium. Martinez confirmed South African midfielder Steven Pienaar [knee] will be back in full training from Monday after almost four months on the sidelines with Tony Hibbert also closing in on a return. Bryan Oviedo is progressing but could be a few weeks yet although he "is getting stronger every day" and Gareth Barry has completed a two match ban for his accumulation of 10 yellow cards.

Newcastle have been dealt a further defensive blow after it was confirmed Massadio Haidara will miss the remainder of the campaign after undergoing knee surgery in Lyon.

It was hoped that Haidara would be back in May following injections to help manage an ongoing knee complaint however the injury has not responded to treatment leaving the player with no alternative other than to go under the knife. Haidara joins defenders Paul Dummett and Steven Taylor – out for the season – while Fabricio Coloccini is currently serving a three match ban. Ahead of next weekends’ Wear / Tyne derby Newcastle will be hoping for at least one returner as Mehdi Abeid steps up his recovery from a thigh strain with Rolando Aarons [hamstring] also due to join the group on Monday.

Winston Reid will miss his international duty with New Zealand since he has still not recovered from a hamstring injury.

New Zealand coach Anthony Hudson stated that the team have given Winston every chance to be fit but he hasn't responded well to treatment and they will not even fly him out to join the squad. He also made it sound like Reid is close to returning, so it is not out of the question he is fit for next weekend when West Ham face Leicester City. Keep an eye out for his fitness levels before deciding on your GW31 fantasy team.

Eden Hazard has stated he would back a Petr Cech exit this summer after the goalkeeper made comments regarding a summer move.

Cech mentioned in recent days that he would consider leaving Stamford Bridge this summer because he doesn't want to spend another season as an understudy to Thibaut Courtois. The news is unsurprising, as the 32-year-old only has a few years of football left and he understandably wants to start, especially given the fact he is still one of the best goalkeepers around. Cech has been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal amongst other teams, but it's uncertain if Cech wants to remain in the Premier League or leave for another league. He is not a fantasy option at the moment and there is a chance he never will be in the Premier League again.

Kelvin Davis is faced with a great opportunity to shine at Southampton after Fraser Forster was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Forster underwent knee surgery earlier this week and will miss at least the remainder of the season and quite possibly a big part of next season. Davis is the next in line at Southampton and will be faced with a big challenge ahead of him as the Saints fight for a European spot. Forster leads the league in clean sheet at the moment, partially due to Southampton's great defense, so Davis is certainly in a great situation to succeed. With Everton, Hull City, and Stoke next, Davis is a great investment in fantasy.
