Jack Rodwell scored on his home debut, but it's too early to get excited about his prospects as a fantasy asset.

Rodwell scored the equaliser for Sunderland against Manchester United and this brought him 10 points in the Yahoo game, but aside from that he did little else that is rewarded in fantasy football. The midfielder finished the week on 11 points overall, and he's not going to score too many goals, so for now he is best used a bench back-up option while he remains cheap.

Hull City has confirmed that midfielder Ryan Mason is in stable condition after fracturing his skull in Sunday's game.

The former Spurs midfielder left the club's 2-0 loss to Chelsea in the 21st minute after a clash of heads with Chelsea defender Gary Cahill, which saw Mason taken off on a stretcher and fitted with an oxygen mask following a significant delay. Said Hull City in a statement: "The Club can confirm that Ryan Mason sustained a skull fracture in our fixture at Chelsea this afternoon. He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where he has undergone surgery. Ryan is in a stable condition and is expected to remain in hospital for the next few days."

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic confirmed that defender Angelo Ogbonna will require season-ending knee surgery.

The Italian defender played a full 90 minutes in a 3-1 win against Middlesbrough on Saturday, but Bilic said he has been playing through the injury due in part to the club's lack of cover in defense. But with the arrival of Jose Fonte this past week, Bilic confirmed Ogbonna will have surgery on a lingering knee injury after making 19 league appearances this season: "I have to praise Angelo Ogbonna, because he has played the whole season with an injury. He needs an operation on his knee to be fit long-term, and it was supposed to be a couple of weeks but we asked him to play. He will now have surgery which will rule him out until the end of the season."

Hull City have released a club statement confirming Ryan Mason has undergone surgery after tests reveal he sustained a fractured skull.

Mason was involved in a sickening clash of heads with Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill on Sunday which left him sprawled on the Stamford Bridge turf for several minutes before he could be moved safely by medics. Speaking after the game, new Hull manager Marco Silva wasn’t able to provide an update but he did confirm that Mason was being assessed in hospital. However, the club did provide further details later that evening: ‘He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where he has undergone surgery. Ryan is in a stable condition and is expected to remain in hospital for the next few days. Everyone at the Club would like to express their sincere thanks for the excellent and swift care given to Ryan by both the Accident and Emergency department and Neurosurgery Unit at St Mary’s Hospital.’

Bottom-dwellers Hull City gave league-leading Chelsea a fight, but that's all it was in a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Hull City couldn't break out from the prison of the bottom three and build on the momentum of a 3-1 win against Bournemouth last weekend despite matching Chelsea shot-for-shot on Sunday evening. The upstart Tigers went with a new look under new manager Marco Silva, starting new signings in Evandro and Omar Elabdellaoui. But an injury to Ryan Mason will surely hurt following the sale of Jake Livermore to West Bromwich Albion. Mason was taken off on a stretcher in the 21st minute with a head injury after a collision with Gary Cahill. The injury caused such a delay that Diego Costa was able to score seven minutes into stoppage time in the first half, while Cahill added an insurance goal in the 81st minute to put Hull away for good.

Granit Xhaka was sent off for the second time in his debut Premier League season and it almost cost Arsenal as they needed a late goal to win 2-1 over Burnley at the Emirates.

Xhaka was supposed to be the combination of style and steel that would finally replace Patrick Vieira. While he has proven adept at crunching tackles, he is proving to be more of a liability than an asset as he again left Arsenal short-handed after being sent off for a rash tackle early in the second half. A controversial late stoppage time penalty call converted by Alexis Sanchez rescued the Gunners from a stoppage time penalty committed by Francis Coquelin. The Gunners will take the three points but the issues at the base of midfield continue.

Andre Gray scored a stoppage time penalty to draw Burnley level with Arsenal but the Clarets couldn't hold on and dropped a 2-1 decision in the 8th minute of stoppage time.

The officials didn't get all of the calls right but the missed calls, like the one where Andre Gray fouled Shkodran Mustafi at the edge of the penalty area that went uncalled, made up for the big mistake at the end of the match. In-between, Grant Xhaka was sent off and Francis Coquelin committed and was called for a legitimate foul in the box. The result was a 2-1 Clarets away loss that leaves their season total of away points stuck at a dismal one. Burnley's home form, third best in the Premier League, has them safely in mid-table but at some point they have to produce on the road if they expect to stay in the Premier League long term.

Southampton let two first half goals help this coast to an eventual 3-0 win over Leicester City, though key defender Virgil van Dijk had to limp off early with an ankle injury.

The Saints put on a professional display today, especially in the area of defense, collecting their first clean sheet in their last six league games. The attack was on point as well though with James Ward-Prowse opening the scoring, finding the far corner after being teed up by Cedric. Thirteen mimutes later, Jay Rodriguez would get on the board, scoring close in on a ball set up by a Ward-Prowse free kick. The scoring wrapped up in the second half with a successful penalty conversion by Dusan Tadic after Shane Lone had been fouled in the area. Still, with the very positive scoreline, much to worry in regards to van Dijk's status, especially with the position thin following the recent sale of Jose Fonte.

Leicester City continue their lackluster league campaign, specifically on the road, with a drab performance in a 3-0 loss to Southampton.

You have to go back about a half century for the last title defending club to be this low in the table at this stage of the season as the Foxes are once again exposed defensively, a head-scratcher when it is the same defensive personnel that guided the club in the second half of last season to the title. Wes Morgan nearly caused an own goal but it was mercifully disallowed and also delivered a foul that led to a goal from the spot for Southampton. The attack suffered the absence of Riyad Mahrez but outside of an occasional flash of promise from Demari Gray, they did little to pressure the Southampton net. Cup involvement can make this another magical season for Leicester but it appears they can't be trusted in fantasy because they are struggling within the league.

Crystal Palace is slowly running out of time to figure things out under new manager Sam Allardyce after another loss.

The Eagles put together a valiant effort against a streaking Everton side, holding Romelu Lukaku and company scoreless until the 87th minute. But they'll look back on the last five minutes of the match with frustration as one counter-attack was all Everton needed to take three points from Selhurst Park after Seamus Coleman scored off a through ball from Tom Davies less than three minutes shy of stoppage time. Loic Remy received his first Premier Leauge start alongside Christian Benteke, but it wasn't enough to jumpstart a Palace attack that has gone goalless in three of the club's last four league matches.

AFC Bournemouth bounced back from going behind twice to grab a 2-2 draw at home to Watford.

Lewis Cook returned to the Cherries' starting line-up while Steve Cook and Tyrone Mings started in the centre of defence as Bournemouth await the return of the still-suspended Simon Francis. Kabasele stuck the Hornets in front after Britos headed a corner aimed at the far-post back into the six-yard box. Bournemouth were rejuvenated by their half-time team talk by Eddie Howe after a languid first-half display and equalised through Josh King, who got on the end of Adam Smith's cross. Smith did brilliantly to create the chance, marauding down the right flank. Watford retook the lead against the run of play through Deeney. Poor defending by Bournemouth gifted him the opportunity to flick the ball beyond Boruc after another corner. Afobe took advantage of Kabasele's cramp to find space and fire powerfully past Gomes to make the tie even again and that was how it finished.

Andy Carroll scored twice and Jonathan Calleri netted in stoppage time as West Ham United moved into 10th with a 3-1 win over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.

After scoring a stunning scissor-kick goal against Crystal Palace last weekend, Andy Carroll once again was the hero for West Ham. Carroll headed home with conviction on nine minutes and then slammed in a rebound from close range to erase Cristhian Stuani's equalizer just before halftime. While the Hammers added a third through substitute Jonathan Calleri in stoppage time, Slaven Bilic's side dodged a bullet in the 65th-minute when Stuani deflected an Aaron Cresswell clearance off the bar. With Dimitri Payet likely to remain absent while his future at West Ham is sorted out, Carroll could not be hitting form at a better time. The English striker has now scored three goals in his last two appearances, and five goals since returning from injury nine matches ago.
