Everton with former Wigan manager Roberto Martinez have long been a rumored destination for Arouna Kone and the pace of rumors seems to be picking up with Antolin Alcaraz also throw in for good measure.

This would be a solid-but-not-spectacular first buy for the new Wigan manager. In Kone, he'd be getting a potential lead forward and insurance in case Nikica Jelavic can't rebound in that spot. In Alcaraz he'd be getting an additional aging center back who would fit right in with Sylvain Distin (35) and Phil Jagielka (30). If the price for both is reasonable then this is a nice move to bolster the squad that has some upside if Kone can improve upon his debut season in the Premier League.

Graziano Pelle was sharp for Southampton today, scoring twice, but the Saints would allow Tottenham to erase two leads as the battle for fifth place ended in a 2-2 draw.

Coming into today, Pelle had scored just one league goal in 2015, but he broke out of his slump in convincing fashion. His first goal was pure determination. Sadio Mane raced into the final third of Spurs but was dispossessed. Ryan Mason took the ball to turn up the pitch but he slipped for a moment and Pelle pounced, slotting a low shot past Hugo Lloris. After Spurs had leveled, he scored from a header thanks to a lovely cross from Shane Long. Spurs would equalize once more shortly thereafter though and the two sides traded blows down the stretch but ultimately a draw was the result, and deservedly so.

Tottenham erased 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to earn a point at St. Mary's in a 2-2 final against Southampton.

Pochettino's first visit to his former club's ground was an entertaining affair. Eric Lamela accounted for their first goal as they answered the one scored by Graziano Pelle just before halftime. Eric Dier sent a cross in that was headed by Harry Kane into Lamela's path and the Argentine finished. After Pelle scored again in the second half, it was Nacer Chadli who then responded. Dier again was the supplier, and Chadli scored from a tough angle to pull Spurs level once more. It would end that way but not without chances from both sides. Spurs dominated possession but they will be happy to have come back twice in this one to grab a point.

Wayne Routledge has been ruled out for the remainder of this campaign after surgery to cure an ongoing and persistent ankle problem.

Swansea made the decision earlier this week to allow Routledge to go under the knife in attempt to ensure the winger is fully recovered for pre-season and his absence will be welcomed by Nathan Dyer who has struggled to nail down a starting place since mid-February. Routledge will now join Kyle Naughton in the treatment room – also out for the season with an ankle injury – while Garry Monk has decided to recall Modou Barrow from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest. Bafetimbi Gomis [hamstring] is targeting a return to action within the next two weeks.

A hip injury threatens to rule Daniel Sturridge out for the remainder of the season after Brendan Rodgers admitted he was "unsure" when the striker would return.

Sturridge has battled a number of injury related problems throughout this campaign [calf / thigh / hip] restricting the England international to just 7 league starts and his absence has been reflected in his sides indifferent season. Missing a striker to deliver at the "top level every week" Rodgers will need to consider his options if he hopes to challenge for the Premier League title. Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert look surplus to requirements while striking duties have fallen to Raheem Sterling with varying degrees of success. Divock Origi will of course return after his season long loan deal at Lille but the young striker has struggled in Ligue 1 and was recently voted the leagues most overrated player.

Peter Odemwingie is coming to the end of his recovery from an ACL injury and could be ready for the bench as soon as Week 34.

This is by no means a viable fantasy option for Week 34 but if Odemwingie plays even a bit part against Sunderland then he could be in line for a more significant role over the last couple of weeks of the season. With little to achieve over the final five matches, giving Odemwingie a little playing time to help push his recovering along before the summer could actually be pretty high on Mark Hughes' agenda. Odemwingie has had some big fantasy days so he could represent an interesting option in Weeks 37 and 38 as one of the few mid-table players with something to play for.

Roberto Martinez has stated that Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar is "very unlikely" to make the squad for their match against Manchester United on Sunday.

It looks like one more week for the South African international. Kevin Mirallas returned and scored for the Toffees last weekend, so Martinez has two in-form wide men to name to his XI with Aaron Lennon also playing well. Martinez also went on to confirm that Romelu Lukaku will be ready to go, much to the dismay of Red Devil fans.

Leon Osman's status for the weekend is still in the air but Roberto Martinez has revealed that the veteran has shown progress in his recovery.

Martinez will not make a determination on Osman's availability until matchday on Sunday, so for fantasy purposes, he needs to be ruled out. His absence increases the likelihood of a start for Ross Barkley. James McCarthy should be ready to partner Gareth Barry in midfield, with Aaron Lennon and Kevin Mirallas out wide. This could be a tough test for Manchester United.

When asked about the status of Daniel Sturridge, Brendan Rodgers admitted he was unsure when the striker would be ready, but has ruled him out for Liverpool's trip to The Hawthorns tomorrow.

Sturridge would have been in the majority of fantasy teams this weekend had he been healthy, but despite the Reds' double gameweek, there won't be any recommended plays at the forward position from their club. Those who play in leagues where you already own him, at least there is some hope that he could play a part in midweek when Liverpool face Hull. Mamadou Sakho and Lucas Leiva are unavailable the West Brom match as well.

Liverpool received a fitness boost this week with the return of Adam Lallana to training, though there is still a doubt as to whether he will make the squad for the trip to West Bromwich Albion tomorrow.

It has been an injury-plagued first season for Lallana at Anfield, but he appears to be on the verge of returning from his latest setback, a groin strain. He cannot be looked at from a fantasy perspective for the weekend but may offer something for investors in the final weeks of the season.

Out of action since last August, Siem De Jong has been deemed ready to make the squad by John Carver as Newcastle United get set to host Swansea City tomorrow.

De Jong's health has directly mirrored Newcastle's play this season - both are ready to be forgotten about as soon as possible. One of the key acquisitions by the Magpies last summer, he has played a total of 99 minutes on the season. He does have a level of pedigree though that should have fantasy managers paying attention. He just may provide the necessary variable to make Newcastle a competitive force again and of course, with an eight month layoff, his price is nice and cheap.

Mohamed Diame suffered a bit of a setback in his recovery this week with the club reporting that his knee was sore after training.

With relegation a real possibility, there is no room in Steve Bruce's starting eleven for a player who might have to be substituted early if his sore knee doesn't react well to playing. Diame hasn't been effective off the bench since his return to the squad and Bruce would have to be extremely desperate to accelerate the player's return given the renewed concerns. Fantasy managers should avoid Diame in all formats for Week 34 for sure and likely for the balance of the season.
