Andre Moritz has left Crystal Palace after he could not be guaranteed regular first-team football by manager Ian Holloway.

Moritz was one of the stars in Palace's push for promotion last season and he had been attracting interest from some bigger clubs, so allowing the Brazilian to leave is quite a surprising decision by Ian Holloway. One has to assume Palace have some big midfield signings lined up if the manager is unable to offer Moritz first team football next season. Stephen Dobbie and Dwight Gayle have joined the Eagles in the past few days and they've been linked with moves for Matt Phillips, Tom Ince and Jerome Thomas.

There appear to be only the details standing between Mario Balotelli and a move to Liverpool.

Reports have the transfer costing Liverpool £16million in addition to £120,000 a week in wages which isn't a huge price if you consider Balotelli a premium forward. The question is whether Balotelli is a premium forward. The physical talent appears to be there but it's hard to see him fitting into a Liverpool attack that is based on rapid-strike counterattacks. "Quick on the counterattack" is not a phrase typically used to describe the mercurial Italian leaving us to wonder how he'll fit in and, if he isn't a regular starter, how that will go down in the locker room. Here's a question for you to ponder...who makes way for Balotelli? Sturridge? Sterling? Coutinho? Henderson? Gerrard? A holding midfielder?

Arsene Wenger has indicated that Ozil will be included in the squad for Week 2 at Everton but he is more likely to be on the bench than start.

Arsenal have been very careful with the returns of Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski after their World Cup-winning summers. Wenger has indicated that his Germans are ready to be involved on Saturday but the implication in his statement is that they are most likely to be on the bench for Week 2. In fantasy formats where you have to make a decision before line-ups are announced then the prudent move will be to wait until Week 3 to include either Mertesacker or Ozil.

Louis Van Gaal's team notes feature fantasy managers' least favorite term - could return - in relation to Robin van Persie.

There was a great deal of excitement about the potential partnership between RvP and his international manager when the hiring of Van Gaal was announced. Van Persie's success at the World Cup (at least in the group stage) just built the anticipation. With the Dutch forward held out to recover from his World Cup exertions uncertainty has been introduced to the equation. Today's United team notes indicate that van Persie could return this weekend against Sunderland but that doesn't seem like enough to commit a starting spot and the requisite budget necessary to have him in your fantasy team. Probably best to wait a week and see how things progress.

Daniel Drinkwater is still recovering from a hamstring injury and will miss Leicester's trip to Chelsea.

Drinkwater played fairly well in Leicester's tie against Everton but finished with zero fantasy points, making us question his fantasy value in the future. When healthy, Drinkwater has a starting spot in Leicester's team but his fantasy value is currently low. Avoid until he shows to be healthy and earning fantasy points.

Thibaut Courtois is the top goalkeeper pick for Week 2 of the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game.

As you may or may not be aware, an issue in the Yahoo database on Saturday led to Courtois, Diego Costa and Alexis Sanchez dropping in price to just to £5.01million . To ensure fairness for all fantasy managers, the price of these players has been dropped down to below £6million ahead of the Week 2 deadline. Provided you're confident Courtois will remain Chelsea's number one goalkeeper then it's wise to grab him at that price while you can, plus he has a home game against Leicester.

Diego Costa is the top striker pick for Week 2 of the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game.

The striker would've been the top striker pick of the week at £12million. At £5.26million in the Yahoo game you should buy him, place him in your starting XI, forget about that slot until May 2015 and watch the fantasy points roll in. The very definition of a season-keeper and surely set to score well against Leicester.

Chelsea's Cesc Fabregas is the top midfield pick for Week 2 of the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game.

Seriously, how good was Fabregas against Burnley on Monday night? The midfielder has slotted straight in to the Chelsea side, looks like he'll be at the heart of everything for Mourinho and was whipping in some quality corners, so you must find a way to get him in your side ahead of the Leicester game.

Gylfi Sigurdsson is well worth considering for Week 2 given his opening weekend performance, and his fixture against Burnley.

Boss Garry Monk allowed Sigurdsson the freedom to roam just behind Wilfried Bony and this led to him causing the Manchester United defence all sorts of problems, as he grabbed an assist, a match-winning goal and a whole load of Yahoo fantasy points. That was at Old Trafford, so you have to wonder what the set piece specialist may be capable of at home to Burnley in Week Two.
Aug 22 - 4:29 AM

Ryan Bertrand could be a wise addition to your Yahoo fantasy defence as Southampton face West Brom in Week 2.

A promising debut from Bertrand for Southampton at Anfield suggests the left-back is ready to come out of the shadows and nail down a permanent first-team spot for the first time in his career. The Saints have a cracking fixture with a potential clean sheet opportunity, so Bertrand is an absolute steal priced below £5million.

Swansea's Wilfried Bony could open his 2014/15 goalscoring account against Burnley this weekend.

Swansea have done well to hold on to Bony over the summer and assuming they can keep him past 31st August (transfer deadline day) the striker will be key to ensuring Garry Monk's side avoid any sort of relegation battle. He put in a slightly disappointing display against Manchester United but we're tipping him to have a much bigger impact at home to Burnley.
Aug 22 - 4:33 AM

Crystal Palace's Martin Kelly is the bargain of Week 2, available at just £1million in the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game.

Kelly was recently signed from Liverpool, is set to start on the right of the defence, has a good chance of helping Crystal Palace keep a clean sheet against West Ham and costs just £1million in the Yahoo game. What more do you need to know? He should be in your squad and on the bench at the very least.
